I think the bad reviews must have been written by the owner to keep out the tourists. This is a first class pub. It is well run with great drinks. I had Gin and Tonic with Hendricks! Doesn’t get better. And the clams with linguini were fresh and home made. Ten stars. Also we ordered the roasted pork also was a ten. Words can’t do enough to compliment this great pub.

Stepped in on a busy Saturday afternoon this slightly noisy and busy gastro pub near Regents Park was always going to be busy! Anyways we shared some small plates of calamari, prawns and a Greek salad along with some ok Italian wine. Nice surprise to be able to get it by the carafe. The food was very tasty and enjoyable. Service efficient although the staff could smile a bit more. Maybe it was late in their shift! Nice spot to park up after wandering around on a Saturday afternoon.

See the reviews below if you want to know about food, as I only ever use this pub for a drink. The pub is located a few minutes walk away from Great Portland Street and Regent’s Park. It seems to be quite popular in the neighborhood, as I pass it multiple times a week on the way to the gym and there always seems to be a good amount of people drinking outside. The interior is cozy and has the traditional English pub atmosphere. There are mostly regular tables, but if you are lucky, you can snatch the one comfortable big sofa. I like that they don’t overdo the music here, so you can hear your friends talk. I wouldn’t go out of my way to take my friends especially to this pub, but while I’m in the area, it’s a nice place to sit down. Ale lovers will enjoy themselves there, but I could use a selection of better lagers(so that’s where one of the stars comes off).

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have higher reviews. Sure, it’s tucked away and it’s just your average pub in terms of ambiance and feel. The service isn’t anything to rave about however the food is ridiculously delicious. Shockingly good! My friend and I went because we were hungover, and it was close. We had a couple tapas, the slow roasted lamb, and the homemade gnocchi. It was the best lamb and gnocchi we’ve EVER had. It’s officially going to be our new go-to. Eating there puts you in the kind of situation where you’re so full you can’t eat another bite – but if you stop, you know you’ll regret it later. I’m still thinking about that gnocchi and I can’t wait to go back. Besides the food they have plenty of great wine, beer and a wonderful outside eating area. I HIGHLY recommend going for casual dinner and drinks. You won’t regret it!

I have been to this pub many times, and while I mostly go for a drink, I have also tried some of their great food. It can get very busy in the summer months, close as it is to Regents Park, and having its outdoor tables face south and west. For me, it really shines(no pun intended) on cooler days, though, with its wood interior, good wine selection, and comfy couches.

A cosy, comfortable pub in an area that doesn’t boast much competition. It has a tapas menu to choose from, we didn’t eat so we were the people getting a little annoyed that practically all the tables were booked(but empty upon our arrival) so we had to stand and look at the empty seats we wanted to sit on. Yep, it’s one of those places. Are you a pub or a restaurant? Still, if you can grab one of non-booked tables and grab a seat, it seems a pleasant enough place to while away an evening.

Came here last night. Can recommend the Prosecco and the service was good too! Tapas: Good ones were the chicken skewers, the manchego spring rolls, curried chick pea thingy. Indifferent were the haddock fish cakes and the lamb patties. Plain bad were the pork meatballs. I like the atmosphere here. It’s always busy; we went on a Monday night, and although it’s a normal pub downstairs, there’s a dining room upstairs which is very pleasant. All in all a reliable mainstay.

Really nice pub which is quite comfortable both outside and inside. Enjoyed a few points initially outside and went back inside when the temperature dropped a bit. Affordable pints at 3.5 quid. Had the Roast Organic Beef for dinner which was very tasty, albeit a bit small for American stomachs. However, they charged a 4 quid service charge, not sure for what.

Good tapas, nice place, service hit and miss. No baby change, but otherwise a decent option with kids.

Been here a number of times and the first few were excellent. Manchego spring rolls, charcuterie and the artichokes were favorites. Basically went through most of the tapas menu. Also the fresh tagliatelle was top notch. However the last few visits have seen a big drop off in the food quality. Not sure what changed but this is no longer on my radar as a top gastro pub. Still a nice place near regent park to grab a beer as they have a nice selection but they need to bring back the chef from a year ago to rate on the food.

We went here to meet a friend for a Thursday lunch. First time here and I’d definitely return. We set downstairs(ground floor that is) and were offered both the restaurant menu and the tapas menu. One of us ordered from the tapas menu(deep fried cauliflower, meatballs and potato bravas), the other the free range chicken breast(off the restaurant menu) and our friend ordered the pork(from the restaurant menu). The food was delicious and the portions actually quite big. The tapas were filling! Kind of pubish, kind of restaurant oh yes, it’s a gastropub, but done right as they reserve some tables for lunch but actually leave a large amount of tables free for those just wanting a drink or walk-ins. I think the food is great for the price. However the wine is a bit pricey but good choices.

This is my favourite venue for Sunday Roast. The beef is absolutely excellent, the quality tops every other restaurant or gastro pub which I tried up to know. The staff is really friendly and helpful and everytime I went I had no problem in finding a good and spacious table. To reccomend!

This could be considered a local pub. I have tried dining and drinking there numerous times and every time I feel it could be better. a year ago, it was completely free on Friday night, you can find a seat and get served quickly, but things have definitely changed in the past few months, I suspect it is something to do with the management — it is very packed nowadays and to food is getting better and better. I would keep on going there but it can’t be my favorite

We walked here after Zoo Lates, and the cosy pub atmosphere really warmed us up after being in the rain for 3 hours. We got there a bit later, and there was a younger crowd there, which was nice, b/c we got to see a couple making out while standing on a table, and they accidentally gave us a free glass of wine! Win!

Definitely a 2-star establishment. I’ve definitely experienced better pub food in London. The menu SOUNDS really interesting, but when the food comes to the table, it’s just not as great as it looked in print. A starter salad had the potential for greatness, with halloumi and grilled fruits, but the flavour was actually pretty bland. My main of pumpkin stuffed with spinach/blue cheese and lentils was okay, but the pumpkin was actually dry and pretty flavourless. The stuffing saved the dish, but it still wasn’t anything great. The service was spotty at best, and our server messed up a few of our drinks orders. I wouldn’t go back unless I was starving in the neighbourhood and had no other viable options. It might be a decent place for a pint though as it had nice atmosphere and buzz.

THISPLACE = A JOKE. Myself and about 20-odd other people from a pretty well known company in London sat outside the Queen’s Head & Artichoke this past Friday afternoon. Having just enjoyed a day out in Regents Park with their company, everyone decided on this pub as an after-party spot, and we quickly spent about £200 on beer, wine and spirits. I joined the party a little late, went inside to order a pint of Erdinger, and the man who served me behind the bar was… awkward. He was cold, unfriendly, and was pretty condescending.(As if I should have been psychic and just KNOWN that they were out of the Landlord Brew, which I had asked to try before order the Erdinger.) Moments after joining our large crowd outside, said awkward man stormed outside and started shouting at the members of our group who were eating strawberries. As our group had been at Regents Park all afternoon, they had a few crates of leftover food with them. «GO. You have to go now. You CANNOTEATTHATHERE. Go. GONOW.» It’s not like this place sells strawberries. And it’s also not like we were all sitting around, tucking in to the leftovers from the picnic. A couple people had a handful of strawberries — after spending £200 at this place already. This man did not ask politely if we would stop eating strawberries. He did not appreciate the fact that having a large group of people standing outside his pub, laughing and having a good time made his business look fantastic to passers-by. He also didn’t care that we all explained to him that we would stay there all night and would spend a LOT of money there. He was beyond rude, and despite a good number of our party trying to reason with him, he insisted we left.(After trying to actually take the crates of food away from us.) Did I mention he also lied and told us he was the highest member of staff in charge that night, despite the owner being upstairs, later finding out what happened, and begging us to stay? This smug little man laughed in our faces when we told him that we were all going online to give this place a bad review. He scoffed at the notion that we would take our business elsewhere. And he literally held up his fat little hand(as in TALKTOTHEHAND, SISTER) when one of us tried explaining why we had food with us to begin with, and that we wouldn’t eat the rest of it there. This pub is a disgrace. They don’t care about customer service. They don’t care about business. And they most certainly don’t care about keeping their customers or their potential customers happy. So, here you go, Queen’s Head & Artichoke. Here’s your crappy review. My advice is to never waste your time going to this palce, and take your business to The Albany instead.(Which is what we did, in the end, and had a FANTASTIC time.)

I probably would have had a different experience if I ate a full meal, but I was just looking to sit(at a non-busy time!) and have something small to eat and drink while I worked on my computer. The small plate of asparagus and tomatoes I ordered as a starter was soggy and swimming in oil, and they charged me GBP7.50 for it. I just didn’t get a good feeling from the place. I had the small plate of asparagus and tomatoes, a large glass of wine, and a small glass of mineral water — — total bill GBP17.50

Went here for lunch on a weekday. We wanted to sit outside since the sun was actually shining but ended up going back inside as no one showed up to take our order like they said they would. The place seems a bit understaffed and even inside we have to wait quite a while to order our food. I have the rib eye, medium rare, which to my disappointment was quite rough and served medium raw and slightly cold. Overall I found the place quite expensive and the quality not that high. Would not go back.

i can’t tell you what the prices are like, since one of my vendors took me here for lunch during a work trip out to london a year or so ago. all i can tell you is that this place was amazing — from décor to food to service. the establishment is, like all joints in london, this tiny little old school place with old paintings on the walls and old school tables/chairs on the floor. through and through, very british and filled with a «culture-filled» tone. liked it very much i ordered the scallops to start, followed by pork belly with carrots and bok choy. random veggie, but it worked. was a little salty, but who cares, it was a giant ass piece of BACON. check out the associated pics here. it’s a frickin microscopic cross section of a piece of bacon. it was delicious… very comforting flavors
