The Quarters is fine, despite I have visited it just twice and both times the service was slow. However, last time I came, I had delicious chicken noodle soup and I’m still talking about it to a friend because they don’t offer food any more. It was like seeing an unicorn and knowing you won’t see it ever again. The place is very well decorated, despite it’s not actually my taste. Obviously the person responsible for the interior doesn’t share my decorating believes. The staff is very welcoming and a pleasure to talk to, really. They offer nice coffee, but you may consider your visit, as like I said, they no longer offer food.

They do not serve food anymore!!! And you only get a free americano if you spend over 7 pounds on pre-packed muffins… There’s only seating space for 7 people unfortunately. The good thing was that i did have a very nice coffee but i would NOT recommend this place!

I’ve had the veggie noodle salad and the veggie dumpling salad and I can’t wait to try more on the short menu. The veggie dumplings are amazing, just perfect and every time I eat them I think about them for 2 – 3 days after. My husband loves the noodle soup with chicken, though be warned if you ask for it Vietnamese style it will be fairly spicy! Hopefully you’re into that, my husb has a pretty low spice tolerance(I’m trying to help him work through it). I’m obsessed with this place but trying my best to be careful and not go too much so it doesn’t lose it’s special appeal to us. Can’t forget to mention the lemon cake! So thick and sweet and syrupy, if you like lemony desserts, don’t overlook!

First, the food: so good. I came here for lunch and had pork dumplings, mmmmm so spicy, so delicious, a meal both light and satifyingly filling. I still followed it with a square of lemon drizzle cake I’d been eyeing since I’d come in because it looked so moist and yellow and tasty. And it was even better than it looked. I also had a perfect lemon, honey and ginger drink — exactly the right balance of flavours — not too sweet, not too weak. YES. I left feeling extremely happy. The décor is fantastic too! They sell antique furniture and things there too, which decorates beautifully while it waits. There’s always something to look at and the atmosphere is so nice and friendly and unpretentious. Love.

I had a lovely noodle dish here(those thick springy udon ones!) It was spicy and quite a large portion which I ended up slurping all over the place. The décor is cute and the staff friendly. I was here with a couple friends for book club and it was a nice place to chill. The cakes looked stunning but I managed to abstain. Next time ;)

There’s a trippy, Berkeley-esque vibe(that means I dig it) up in Highgate and it’s to be found at The Quarters Café. I went in to get out of the rain as I was doing one of my usual walks around Highgate Wood and Village, not quite ready to pop back on the tube and come back to SE London. The windows were fogged up; I couldn’t really see inside, but it looked a bit like an antique shop through the wet glass. I opened the door to a cosy and full-of-folk front room with mostly two-top tables surrounded by tchotchkes for sale.(–a tad bit expensive, but great to look at as I drank my espresso.) The back room sounded full of patrons, I never poked my head around the corner to check it out. I found the service to be efficient, friendly, and, in a nod to B-town, pretty chill. –want a place to visit up in Highgate that isn’t, as a friend of mine here says, ‘up itself’? Get on up to Quarters!

Nice cozy coffee shop with some cool artwork inside. Had a carrot juice smoothie with a veggie sandwich. Chilled out and enjoyed the scenery.

I love and visit this place way too much not to give it five stars. One of the few places in London that earn such high marks from me. I’m stingy.

I popped into the café one day out of curiosity. I was intrigued by the name as I had travelled through Laos some years back. I found the staff welcoming and genuinely interested in what you have to say. The service, I have to say, is excellent. They do a fantastic range of oriental loose tea. Being an avid tea lover I often find it hard to find a café that specializes in this range. The café itself is nicely furnished with a cozy sofa and a range of different styles of seating arrangements. It’s quirky front window display seems to change on a regular basis with the ower’s own creative touch. What I like most about the Laos Café is that it doesn’t have the expensive price tag nor the up-market feel of its neighboring Highgate village. I have no doubt the Laos café will grow in popularity.

I learned about the Laos Café via the review of another Unilocaler while riding the bus and reading the«nearby-section» on my Unilocal App… in fact, about 30 minutes after she’d posted her review on Unilocal,I was already inside Laos Café and had a nice little chat with Rob, the owner of this lovely place. Since then, I’ve been back about 3 – 4 times and every time I come back I like it more and more. And there’s good reason for that: for one, Rob always gives me a warm welcome. But, it’s not all just talk, the staff just offer high quality stuff here for reasonable prices. In fact, twice now I have tried their lunch options and both times I loved it: the Japanese vegetable curry was just like my partner makes it for me at home. And speaking of him: yesterday I brought my significant other along… but before I continue, let me tell you that he always laments about the fact that there is no good Chinese/Asian food in Archway/Highgate…well he no longer has reason to moan: we ate the homemade Taiwanese Pork Dumplings and he said that they reminded him very much about the time when he grew up in Taipeh. Very authentic indeed! And, what reminded him of home even more, was the container that the vegetable soup was served in a quirky, plasticy-looking bowl with an odd handle… but according to him this is just what they had at home! Nice little touch… The menu at Café Laos is not extensive, but I would like to argue that it’s good that way: I’d rather have a limited choice, but therefore delicious food. Further, the food is prepared in an open-kitchen and so there’s no way of cheating! Final verdict: whether you’re in the mood for tea, coffee, cake or lunch… at the Laos Café you can have it all! The atmosphere is comfy, cozy and absolutely down-to-earth. Alas, the shop is located on a busy road with not much food traffic, so the owners might have a harder time establishing themselves… yet, on the other hand, I would like to argue that since the customers don’t actually come here because of the convenience, they rather come by because they like it so much and are not afraid to make a detour! Also: word-of-mouth goes a log way!

Best ever coffee in London and a proper hot chocolate are not only the things which bring me here at least once a week. Homemade food, good music and friendly Rob make you really enjoy of it.
