I’ve worked near Oxford Circus since 2006, and whenever the suns comes comes out at lunchtime, I — like everyone else working near Oxford Circus — head straight to Cavendish Square. Now that’s a lot of people. And very little grass. So we all vie for space and nab whatever miniscule patch we can find. All amongst the cigarette butts so kindly left behind by whomever sat there before us. But my life has been flipped, turned upside down. How? What? Why? It’s all on account of the discovery of the roof gardens at John Lewis on Oxford Street. This place is a little Oasis, away from the crowds and the fag ends. Head to the top floor of John Lewis during the Summer months and you will find juices, smoothies, uncrowded grass(admittedly of the astroturf variety, but who cares?),(real) flowers, living walls and amazing views of the city. So while this heat wave is on, I guess I’ll see you there!(Just don’t tell everyone else on Cavendish Square, eh?)
