So disappointing! Unfortunately I have reviewed this restaurant before and was happy with the quality and shocked by the customer service, they tried to scam me with a voucher deal and over charge me. As it has been a few years I decided to give this local restaurant another chance, unfortunately the customer service has not improved an inch and the quality of the food has gone downhill. I ordered the Chicken Tikka masala and there were 4 small piece of chicken in a watery sauce that had no flavour. I had meat samosas to start at £3, I received 2 samosas about 5 cm long, tiny! I opened my Keema naan to see if there was anything inside and saw that there was about an espresso saucer size piece of meat in the middle and that was it. Such a shame and truly disappointing. I would not reccomend.

1st time I ordered it was only delivered after a 45min late follow-up call, food was OK. 2nd time we got an online order confirmation from and later called only to talk to a guy who not only didn’t apologize for his«system being down» but was amazingly RUDE. There’s a dearth decent delivery options, but really can’t wish enough bad on this place.

Gorgeous food and brilliant service. The Oval Tandoori is the only Indian restaurant that I ever order from. The delivery drivers are always polite and you’re never left waiting too long for your food. Also if you fancy something different for your Sunday dinner they do a fairly priced all you can eat buffet.

I wouldn’t say this curry house is going to wow you, or offer anything more than the typical Indian restaurant/take-away, but it does a darn good job of being typical! If you’re one like me, who says they love ‘curry’ but who would flinch at the very authentic Indian food, this place is perfect. I’m a tikka masala with peshwari naan type of gal(and not ashamed of it!) and this place does a jolly good one, to eat in or take away. I’ve never come across it particularly busy but the service is always great, and I’d imagine it’d be convenient for pre-Brixton Academy gig/post-cricket. For me, it’s just across the road, so perfect!

Now that I’ve restarted my salsa dancing in earnest, my salsa friend Hilary and I are exploring more pre-salsa food options. We recently started dancing at a place near the Oval and we spotted a few places to try nearby. Oval Tandoori House has recently been refurbished according to the staff and its nice décor is supplemented by a good array of award plaques and certificates on the walls though we didn’t have time to inspect them more closely. As we had to be spinning and shaking our booty soon, we decided to forego starters(except for the obligatory popaddoms) and go to straight to main courses of achari gosht(lamb) and chicken tikka jeera accompanied by coriander naan and pilau rice. The food was nice with both curries tasting quite distinctive and not too hot(we had checked as Hilary isn’t the biggest chilli fan in the world). The naan was nice but looked suspiciously like it had ginger rather than coriander. I must make a special mention of my mango lassi which had pieces of real mango. The staff were keen for us to stay longer, even proferring a dessert menu just as we were paying the bill. The chewing gum which came with the bill was useful though to make sure our breath wasn’t too unsociable for dancing! They even gave us a £2 off voucher for use on our next visit.
