Just a nice, friendly gastropub that will serve you great food and drink and then leave you in peace to enjoy it. Just down the way from Oval Tube station.

Love the Oval Lounge for its friendly atmosphere, great staff and comfortable surroundings! The drinks are not too expensive and it doesn’t get too busy on Cricket Match days. Pop in!

We found this place by accident and so happy we stopped by! Great service and food and such a fun crowd. Near Vauxhall it gets a good mix of locals with very few tourists. Would definitely recommend if in the neighborhood.

Having been here twice, and both times being incredibly hungover, I can say that the Oval Lounge has taken care of me in my time of need. Both times I have been in it has been busy so I assume they are popular for a Sunday morning hangover cure. And there food is perfect for a hangover. The two plates I have ordered myself are the fill English breakfast and the pancakes with bacon and syrup. The full English is very clean and generous portions. It doesn’t feel like a greasy spoon fry-up which is good. But the highlight is the pancakes. I only wish the portion was bigger! But they do always give too much syrup which I am not complaining about! Friends have ordered breakfast smoothies, eggs benedict and salmon and the vegetarian full English. One down side is the price, as everything does seem a bit expensive even though it is good quality. There is a solution though! At the time of this review, Oval lounge are offering £30 for £15 so this brings the price down!

Great pancakes with either blueberries or bacon and maple syrup. Well priced.

Sadly it’s outside space with dappled shade and reasonably interesting interior décor are let down by inexplicably expensive(or disappointing, depending on your perspective) food. I came for weekend brunch but after a heavy night could only manage something small so decided on some toast with jam. £3, fair enough one thinks, sadly a single serve Hartley’s jam and two toasted slices of baguette don’t really add up. The two toast itself was fine, it’s hard to get toast wrong. My companion’s full breakfast was, I’m told, ok, but it didn’t seem to be much more than what one could find at a greasy spoon(it came, with toast, to £8.50 if you’re interested). With Italo 10 minutes away, I know where I’d rather go. In fact, I did straight after for an almond croissant that came to less than that toast.

Today was my first time here, I’ve passed several times in front but never had time to stop. So I decided to treat myself on my day off, I don’t regret it. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing(the both fairly sunny and cloudy day did its trick as well). They serve the breakfast menu until 5pm on Saturday(and other days I don’t remember) and it’s a good selection, I had the full English Breakfast, which I enjoyed very much, a large portion but wasn’t too heavy and still had room for some dessert. Food service it’s just a little lengthy, but if you’re not on a rush, that’s alright… it was my day off after all! and I was enjoying my book. The staff is very friendly, and it seemed an enjoyable place to be. Will definitely come back and try some of their cocktails(the variety seems inviting!)

Went to The Oval Lounge for breakfast recently with 3 friends. I really didn’t want my first review to be bad and I was really excited to try this place but we were pretty disappointed with the experience. The restaurant itself is nice, low key and comfortable. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a rubbish time with the service — we waited 20 minutes for our orders to be taken(had to remind a member of staff we were there). We then waited almost an hour for our 4 breakfasts to be served(had to ask twice how long our meal would be). The breakfasts themselves were tasty and the eggs came with a hefty portion of smoked salmon. However, everything was lukewarm. Delays can always happen and we weren’t a demanding group but I was really disappointed with how the delays were handled. I found one member of staff to be very curt, we weren’t told that there were any delays on food and we received no apologies, acknowledgement or explanation as to why we had waited so long. The food did seem like it would be really good so I would be willing to give this place another try but the service needs to be improved on a Sunday morning.

Very friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Food was good– they cater well for vegetarians like my best friend. Décor could be refreshed a bit, it’s a bit tired. Will be back, it’s nice for a low key evening.

The Oval Lounge is right across the street from my old flat(alas I have just moved) but it was a frequent spot for me to get a full english breakfast following a heavy night. The atmosphere is really relaxed and you do get nice morning sun in the windows at the front, if you can get a table there. The full english will get you a sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs(no choice for fried), beans, mushrooms, a tomato and the MOSTAMAZINGTOASTEVER. I don’t know what it is about their toast, but it’s really nice bread and their chef seems to be a pro at grilling. Lightly toasted to perfection. If I could buy this chef just to make me toast I would. All in all The Oval Lounge is good food, not too expensive and a great atmosphere. There’s not a whole lot in Oval, but it’s easily the best place to eat should you be there.

I’ve been here a couple of times and I am loving it so far. My wife also seems to like it because she even sent here her regards to the chef for the wonderful dinner we had the other night.

There was really no reason for me to go to a café at Oval(which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere for me) on a Saturday morning for brunch. But a friend insisted, and so I went along. The restaurant wasn’t bad. It’s a short 2 minute walk from the station. The dining area is big and they also have a small patio with limited seating(which was still closed at after 1pm when we reached). I ordered the English breakfast. It’s a common and simple order and it allows me to easily compare between different restaurants. I wanted to get something else instead of the grilled tomato. But I was told that I would have to pay an extra £1 for the swap. Very few establishments are so inflexible regarding this … One star was lost right here. The customer here also does not have the option to decide how to have the eggs cooked(it’s scrambled eggs), which is highly unusual(I prefer fried). Among the components, the bacon was good, though there was visible fat on the rashers. The egg was nice though the sausages were not upto the mark. My friend ordered a burger. I just had a bite from it and it tasted ok. Along with one drink each, breakfast came to be £14 per person for us. That’s not too expensive, but not too cheap either. I would have dropped in to the Oval Lounge once in a while had I lived in the area. But they have given me too many reasons not to do the trek.

I live very near to the Oval Lounge and go there all the time, but not just for that reason The staff are incredibly friendly, and always attentive and polite, even when busy(which is often, as it’s a very popular place). The food is absolutely delicious Think gourmet meets bistro but completely unpretentious. I have made a habit of going there for breakfast when I have a day off and want to treat myself. Their cocktail menu is also outstanding. They’re very gay-friendly(there’s a big gay presence in the area) but are by no means a gay bar; people of all ages and persuasions come there to eat and drink. I love the Oval Lounge. Yay.

Chilled out atmosphere with fabulous décor. Smells of fresh coffee when you enter and feels cosy. Great for a snug winter drink but feels like summer has arrived by sitting outside and watching the world go by.
