The Ottomans

OK, I will put my clouded judgement aside for a moment and just tell you how good the food here is.
Try the seafood mixed grill for a sure winner. The staff here are very friendly indeed. Used to go here regularly when I lived in finchley.

When I first saw this restaurant, I got really excited and planned on going with my girlfriend. I love my Turkish food and it looked really nice from outside and couldn’t wait to go.
It is a small restaurant, with traditional Turkish ornaments inside creating a soothing Turkish vibe, the menu is not as vast as I had hoped and expected to see the old tradition Ottoman/​Turkish dishes, but it basically had the same menu as all the other Turkish restaurants.
I went on a week night and there weren’t many tables taken up, I think there were just two other couples eating away, so it was very quiet. Though passing by many times since, I have seen it packed.
You can have a nice meal here, and be pleasantly served. It has a full bar and a decent menu at very good prices.

I went to the Ottomans with a group of friends. The restaurant organised a special low budget, easy for group to pay menu of £10 for a starter, main and dessert. I had a couscous salad which was really about 3 tablespoons worth. It was tasty and fresh. For mains I had lamb which was delicious and tender. My ice-​cream was unexciting and tasted like it was bought at a budget supermarket. Portions were small but expected at that price.
The waitress who served us was very pleasant and patient. Groups can get a bit out of hand. Unfortunately there was only one other couple dining that night so there was not much of a vibe. I think on busier nights it’s a great place to go.

My partner and I discovered Ottomans on a long walk to Finchley Central. On our first visit of many we choose the lunch special which is a starter and a main for 5.95 (a steal). I had the hummus (seriously as a chickpea connoisseur I can seriously say this is the best hummus around) followed by the delicious Turlu (Vegetarian stew). The staff are very nice and they substituted her rice for new potatoes. I drank a peach juice and looked happy. We have returned many times. This place rocks!
