The Old Frizzle sits smack in the middle of the Wimbledon Broadway. It became my local when it took over for the lackluster rugby pub that preceded it. And since then, The Old Frizzle has come a long way towards a great menu and great atmosphere. It’s a really nice, fun pub with a good crowd and nice eats. The whole menu has taken a turn for the gastronomic of late, with tons of options for good meat, fish and other English pub favorites. Their beef burger«main» plate will cost you £13.50, which by most standards is quite pricey, even for London. The small plate version is £7.50 and both sizes come with fries. The burger is served with bacon, cheddar, lettuce and tomato as standard. But for the price, the Old Frizzle serves a huge burger, bristling with melted cheese and fresh toppings on a fluffy, fresh bun. The burger itself is one of the thicker, more generous servings of beef that you’ll find out there. Beef aside, The Old Frizzle offers up some other nice burgers that spice up their«on a bun» section of the menu. They do a nice lamb burger with mint, greens and tzatziki sauce; venison with tomato, lettuce, chorizo and mozzarella; or a buttermilk and spiced panko crumbed chicken patty, topped with brie, salad, and avocado. Overall, the Old Frizzle is just a really nice, comfy pub to spend a day in — hanging out with friends, watching the football or rugby, or shooting the shit at the bar. The front room is more of a quick eats style, with tables and benches. A nice, curved bar swing around to the left of the kitchen and goes into the back room, which is my favorite. Its walls are lined with bookshelves and it has a nice vaulted ceiling. All the projector screens reside in this room, and it also has a little stage for live music and trivia nights. I write more about it on my blog, if you’re ever in the Wimbledon area!

I was lured in by the pretty fairy lights, and this place didn’t disappoint. The service is quite slow but this is usually because the place is nearly always busy, and so has a great atmosphere. The pub quiz on a Sunday is a lot of fun — one of the best in the area.

Great ambiance, decent beer selection and nice décor. 2 issues: bathroom needs re-arranging, too close for comfort, and service is BEYOND slow.

we went along on one of their mid-week Date Nights, where we got a 2 course meal and a cocktail for £14.99 per person, which seemed a pretty good deal from a cost point of view. When the food arrived, I was reminded of the old saying, «you get what you pay for» When the food eventually arrived, the fish/batter ratio on my fish and chips was all off. It had WAY too much batter for the piece of fish, so much so that I ended up leaving most of it. It’s not like I am against batter. I spent 7 years in Leeds where you can order ‘scraps’ of batter to be sprinkled on your chips, but let’s just say this was too much of a good thing. The dessert we ordered was an Eton mess, which was also very disappointing. Lots of cream, some fruit and just 2 of the smallest crumbs of meringue you’ve ever seen. The cocktail, a classic mojito, was tasty at least, although it could have done with some more muddling if I’m being picky. The venue itself was very nice, with a good atmosphere, fairly reasonable drinks prices and great entertainment in the form of a musician equipped with an acoustic guitar and a loop pedal. I would probably return there for a drink, but if I’m eating in Wimbledon, I’ll be heading to Tortilla instead!

Best Pub in Wimbledon hands down. Spacious place with friendly and professional staff. Great choice of food and drinks available. Raising the bar for Wimbledon which is a welcome addition to the broadway over the usual boring and bland chains.

Not too shabby. Slow service, but friendly faces and kind people. Could do with more eyes on the customers and their needs. Haven’t tried the food, but the menu looks promising and friends have said that the food is quite tasty. They have one beer on the entire menu which has been likened to a Corona… and it’s pretty good. Had a glass of pinot grigio and I found myself quite pleased. I’ll be back!
