I have only ever been to The Love Shake when its been a bit quiet before about 8pm as somewhere to meet friends, they do amazing hot dogs and have offers on bottles of beer. They also have Free Wifi and are usually playing amazing old school films, like the James Bonds’(which as a man, I approve of) You could miss it because it doesn’t have a massive sign out front, but it well worth popping in, during the day and I’m betting it’ll be a good place to hang out as somewhere to chat and drink before having a big night in Shoreditch.

The outside of the love shake offers some on street drinking space, which is nice, but the inside is the real star. Definitely a little run down and ‘vintage’ feel to the place, but the décor is straight from the American 50s diner era. The food menu consists of hot dogs only, but these are above average. There is a good selection of bourbon though, as well as other spirits, but the real star of the show is the milk shakes which come Virgin or with spirits. Good for a start to a Friday night out(or the end of one).

Ah The Love Shake. My go to place to delicious milkshakes. It’s very cute and chill inside. Nice and quiet during the day, but it’s hoppin at night. 1950s American memorabilia cover the walls, and there’s always some cult classic film playing on the TV. Best thing about The Love Shake is that it gives no f**ks and doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. You want a drink? G’won, but it’s only bottles(2 for £5), wine, and cocktails here. The staff are hilarious and occasionally come up with their own creations. You want a burger? Tough luck, have a hot dog. Pork or beef. Nothing special, but they hit the spot if you’re into that sort of thing. You want some chips? Not happening mate, have some pretzels or crisps. They do pancakes during the day, which are class because they’re proper American ones. Come check it out if you’re about. The Love Shake glows red from the neon lights, so you can’t miss it.

Kind of an odd venue … Things it is fantastic at it rules at things it doesn’t rule at it sucks at. Milkshakes brilliant … Suspect this place has had a fair amount of my salary just to serve me the shakes … Plenty of ice cream and wide selection of rich rather than just sweet choices. Milkshakes available as hard or soft. Décor fantastically retro kitche … Booths, sofa or bar stools surrounded by 50’s memorabilia … Vibe nil as the only time this place has people is when everywhere else is full. Hot dogs … Basically the only food available … Pretty much straight from the jar and it shows … So basically brilliant to sit and have a peaceful milkshake … And worthless if you wanted to be hanging out with the cool folk of Shoreditch. But why are you looking to go to a place with shake in the name?

My English-speakers friends will forgive me, but this place is fun enough not to write down some words in Portuguese too. ;)

Oh LoveShake. I came here with my girl friends after one of our cheeky noodle dinners(on this particular occasion we hit up Kingsland Road). We were looking for something desserty to finish up for the night. As the milkshakes come out American style(with extra on the side) we decided to split two among the three of us — one peanut butter and one oreo and my decidely amazing decision to mix these two together. Delicious choices. I’ve yet to try any of the actual food for fear of disappointment. I wasn’t aware that Loveshake also functions as a late-night bar. After a friend’s popup dinner we popped down here around midnight and found bouncers stationed at the door. They weren’t the friendliest of the Shoreditch crowd and this wouldn’t be my top choice of a late-night bar given the more cramped spacing inside. We’ll keep it to the Shakes for now…

Not amazing, but fair enough. After seeing their nachos special posted near the entrance, I was excited to grab some nibbles. However, once inside the sign said nachos and chips were only served until 7pm(it was about 9pm or so). Boo. Yummy milkshakes and comfy couches. The others with me enjoyed their beers, although the Blue Moon wasn’t served with the standard orange wedge. I wouldn’t plan to go back, but if in the area again for other reasons, I’d stop by.

i like the ambience of the place and the 2 beers for £5. I’ve been in there on a few occasions, mostly to drink since its so cheap and if the weather in London is ok, you know what? Might as well sit outside, sip and stare around Shoreditch. I’ve tried the hot dogs, they’re good but that’s about it. No tears about it. I’m disappointed they don’t do chips after 7PM — this is London, we eat chips any time of the day, please fix this. I’ll go back to sample their shakes.

Popped in here after a Unilocal event to grab a quick bite to eat. Taken in by their adverts of hot dogs and beer for £5. We ordered the hot dog which literally got the the table before we could return from the bar! Not sure how they are cooked, but that was quick. Not particularly tasty and a cheap sausage and roll. I know, I know, what did I expect for the price! Probably would not select this again. We didn’t really spend any time here, had our beer and dog and left however, I thought the bar was decorated funky and fun to look around what was on the walls. They had board games for the clients to play and mainly boothed tables which I always like. Maybe should swing by again when I just want a beer. Expect I could rate it a little higher if just for that.

With drunken heads and empty bellies, our team of entrepid alcoholics made our way here after everyone else had shot the bolt post Unilocal event at the really rather splendid Translate across the road. But, with bellies screaming ‘food… we need food!’ and the liver screaming ‘I am bad… punish me, punish me!’, the offer of beer and hotdogs was just to good not to act on. Was this place immensly memorable? Nah. Was this place there and comfortable and dark and a wee bit dingy and thus hitting all the marks for a continued lunge in drunken mutterings and post pub emails of work mate love(purely platonic of course) and largely responsible for my now apparant and I’m sure annoying inablility to structure my sentences in an understandable and grammatically correct manner? Probably. Curry dog, chips and beer. I think you’ll find I’m sold.

i really want to love the vibe of this place, sort of third café/third bar/third diner, and in parts i do… it’s a really good mid afternoon chill out spot for a small group. maybe you want a glass of wine, but your friend really wants a peanut butter milkshake — that can happen here! last time i came i was in a group of four and we ordered some nachos to share. i don’t think food is really their thing. i mean, it was okay, but it was nothing special. when i eat nachos, i want them to be special! i’m not quite sure if they have worked out the essence of who they are yet? they’re sort of a mix match of things, but they should maybe pick one thing that they are good at and excel at it… i don’t have any suggestions for what that should be, i just know that whilst they’re good and i enjoy coming here, they’re not strong in any aspect(that i’ve experienced so far!) and it could just work a bit better than it does!

Hmm, maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I got a peanut butter shake, and while it WAS thick(American style), a rare thing in this country, the ice cream wasn’t very rich and tasted more like iced milk(or like cheap ice cream). And it wasn’t really sweet enough for me either. And while the size was quite generous, it just didn’t taste decadent. I’ll try something different next time. I LOVE the concept of a late night place with more than just alcohol(and alcohol) with a chill vibe and friendly fellow clientele and bar staff. This could have a good thing going for it(though it is quite small, not good for large groups).

Don’t mess around with anything else on the menu. Ask for the peanut butter-chocolate milkshake. It’s thick, creamy & tastes like reeses pieces. PERFECTION.

I love this place! We needed to find a quieter venue to sit down in and hear ourselves think, which was not being achieved in a bar across the road. So we found The Love Shake. It’s a funky retro diner bar. The décor was eye catching and entertaining. The staff were friendly, nice and helpful. They stocked our favourite cider. I would love to have this place in Dublin.

50s style diner, short and cheap menu. Hotdog and peanut milk shake were classic and faultless. Until new year, the booze license stops at 6.30pm.
