The Kia Oval

Great venue for a corporate event, we had a staff away day there and the room was well set up and the staff were very helpful. Food was great, good cake break in the mid afternoon, and lots of coffee to keep up going!

We sat in block 10 which apparently is good for a good view of the wicket?
Lots of bars around the edge of the seats so no real queueing for beer

The Oval, sometimes referred to as the Kia Oval due to commercial sponsorship, is an international cricket ground at Kennington, in the London Borough of Lambeth, south London.
The Oval has been the home ground of Surrey County Cricket Club since it was built in 1845.
It was the first ground in England to host international Test cricket, in September 1880. The final Test match of the English season is traditionally played there.
In addition to cricket, it has hosted many other sporting occasions and can lay claim to being the most historically important general sports ground in the world. It staged the first FA Cup final in 1872 and was the home of the FA Cup final between 1874 and 1892. In 1870, it staged the first England football international, against Scotland. In 1876, it held England v Wales and England v Scotland rugby internationals, and in 1877 rugby’s first Varsity match.

«Because it’s the Oval!!» my companion looked at me as if I had just sprouted an extra nostril… «you don’t know the Oval?»
«Nope». apparently this is a very famous cricket ground. fair enough.
I was just there for a corporate gig — the place was well kept and the facilities in good order, not a cricket or any other sort of insect to be seen anywhere.

I am very pleased to report that this location has seemingly not resorted to ‘ripping off’ hungry punters, somewhat worse off for booze and constrained by the fact that they are ‘trapped’ in the ground.
The choices of food is good, chips, fish n chips, burgers teas coffees etc etc.
Although the food stalls seem to be churning out food like there was no tomorrow, the quality of the fish n chips was good, the portions wholesome and all very reasonably priced at around £7.
