Great local pub — the comedy is brilliant value and really intimate, but the rest of the pub is pretty decent too. Lots of homemade seasonal drinks round Christmas(i.e. mulled wine, I’m sure there was something else too but I forget what), chatty bar staff and comfy chairs not too tightly crammed in. Plus they let you get chips from next door and eat them while drinking — they can do no wrong. It was in this pub that I decided I would like to live in Forest Hill and I am happy with that decision each time I visit. I am hoping to go to the quiz soon. I’ll come back with another 5* review if I win.

Great pub, and a wonderful destination for those Forest Hill bound. The pub itself offers a nice selection of beers and a reasonable wine list. The key to The Hob are the social activities such as the quiz evenings but most especially the EDC — East Dulwich Comedy who moved here some time ago. Some BIG comedy names come through The Hob and it is definitely worth making the time to come and visit.

The Hob, although not a student pub, would fit in well to that genre with it’s cheap and chearful atmosphere and regular comedy, quiz and live music nights. It is a fun pub with a mixture of ages and faces. The comedy nights are put on by the East Dulwich Comedy Club who are able to draw in some names and it has a good variety of music acts playing which can be a nice way to spend a sunday afternoon. Drinks are varied and reasonably priced and they bring in many guest ales to spice things up.
