Tuesday is currently the Steak night. Specials include Rump+potatoes+salad+wine or dessert for £12.95 or Rib Eye + the same for £17.95 No complaints with the food. Perfectly cooked meats(we had a medium rump and rare rib eye) — could not fault. Rump served with a beautiful Bordelaise sauce and the Rib Eye a Bernaise. Both were delicious. Sides were also good — new potatoes and hand cut fries. Salad well dressed with a simple vinaigrette. We took the wine option and then shared a dessert. Total for 2 people — under £40 Very nice meal Thank you

Excellent place. The food is great but mainly go here for drinks and great music. They have a glorious downstairs outdoor area which is perfect for socilaing and smoking. It is heated and covered from rain so even better. You can hear the music out there so great for dancing if you get carried away and overheat. Cocktails are good, not the best selection but they generally will make something up if you ask. A few nights i have been and the DJ is absolutely great(dont judge a book by its cover). Will def keep coming back for a great night out.

Popular restaurant within the Crystal Palace Triangle which has now been established for a number of years. Serving good food with a variety of more upmarket dishes at reasonable prices and a fall back on the burger for those wanting a more simple meal. The fish is done well not dried out. Lots of big fat chips none of this 5 perfectly rectangle pieces of potato. Good dessert selection from cheesecake to chocolate fondant which is done rather well and a pudding I often select. Staff are generally polite. There is a bar and a believe a small garden downstairs but never made it that far in the restaurant. The staff are just as polite and accommodating to children also rather than ignoring them which some places do. The décor is tasteful and you do not feel overwhelmed by the restaurant. Suitable for a casual catch up location or a more formal meal.

I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Food is consistently good and a good rotation of menu, their cocktail lounge in the basement is quirky and great for meeting friends or for ore/post dinner drinks. The service is friendly and welcoming something Joanna’s could learn from.

What a find! I went here for lunch with my sister, and we only had an hour as parking in Crystal Palace is terribly restrictive. We had a very friendly welcome and were given a lovely table in the middle of the dining room. It’s very well done here, with gorgeous chandeliers, lots of interesting features and tables that manage to look like antiques, yet smart! The food was fab — I had the chicken with crushed potatoes and spring greens, whereas my sister had the vegetable risotto. It was all delicious — the chicken was both crispy and juicy, the risotto was light and very flavoursome and the spring vegetables were crunchy and delicious. Unusually, I liked the sound of several of the desserts and was persuaded to have one(it actually didn’t take that much arm twisting!). I had the pear tarte tartin and my sister had the kiwi and orange cheesecake. Both were absolutely dreamy! The thing that tipped this over onto the 5 star category for me was the service. There was only one waitress, covering the whole restaurant, yet she was friendly, calm, efficient and had the whole thing completely under control. She even kept track of the time for us so that we didn’t run over our measly hour that you get for parking in Crystal Palace!

I went to the Exhibition Rooms first week of opening and it was great. I have been back maybe 20 times since and it has always impressed. There was a short time when the food was way to rich and I found some of the fish dishes a little buttery, but this was short lived I have enjoyed 2 new years eves here now and will be back for a 3rd. If they have the Chicken Livers on the menu as a starter I would recommend it. The ER burger is another treat. The bar downstairs is good. Its a lovely little cocktail bar and the bar staff are great. They have a good selection of cocktails and are creative at producing their own. It can get a little busy so later in the evening getting a seat can be hard on weekends.

I love the Exhibition Rooms. So much, that I am reluctant to review it favourably and share the excellent place. But, a bad experience at another local pub last night made me realise how superior the Exhibition Rooms is to many of the other local pubs and restaurants. I am a regular at the ER, for both food and drinks. Yes, it can be pricey in there, but the quality of the food, the cocktails and the service makes it worth it. Check out the several brilliant midweek offers in the restaurant, not to mention happy hour cocktails 6−8pm every evening(even Saturday!)

Visited tonight for the first time. The staff were very welcoming, polite and knowledgeable. The place is grown up, but still feels homely. It’s all open plan, which could go some way to explain why it was a touch chilly for us(although it was freezing outside!). Prices were not a hefty as expected, with some affordable £10 mains going up to £17 for the rib eye. Starters were perhaps a little pricey at £6 but were a good size. My terrine was a bit too chunky for my liking but the chutney was lovely. For mains, the other half’s posh fish n chips were close to perfection but the peas were a tad dry. I had scallops served on black pudding with lentils in a hugely rich sauce — a real light & dark affair, probably not something I’d have again, but still enjoyable, and presented beautifully. The dessert was the highlight, praline cheesecake, absolutely delicious. In all, a very welcome addition to CP’s brilliant restaurant scene.

One if the best new places in town. Excellent food and great cocktails. Not as personal as numidie but would recomend. Try the belly pork. Mmm

Quiet on a Sunday evening but the atmosphere was welcoming and service attentive. The food is very good and well presented. The menu is based on french hearty cooking with quality ingrediants. The cocktail bar downstairs has a more modern feel to it but it was quiet so didn’t stay long. The garden area is surrounded by ventilation pipes and noisy extractor fans so wouldn’t recommend this part. Overall a very good experience.

I went there for drinks with friends. The bar is downstairs and quite cool with several alcoves, good chairs and modern deco. It also opens to an outdoor patio, which is surprisingly big, with a large wooden deck. Music is random electro, nothing crazy. Good selection of cocktails and drinks, a bit pricey to my taste but I guess I might not be used to these anymore. Most cocktails go for £7. Service was a bit slow but the staff was nice. Overall, nice one for a party, crowd is the trendy crystal palace one. One of my friends told me the restaurant upstairs was really good.

A Saturday evening stroll up the big hill, for dinner at The Exhibition Rooms turned out well, I’m pleased to say. My neighbour, and dinner companion, a veteran of all food places in Crystal Palace, was dubious about returning. She had been before and had been put off by the slow service — 30mins between one course ending and another starting. However, I’m pleased to say this was not an issue for us last night. In fact, we were offered tap water before we had even sat down! A new breed of keenness perhaps? Menus, bread rolls and dipping oil were delivered swiftly. And whilst we indulged, I was able to glance round at the fab décor(inspired by the Crystal Palace) and the great mixture of people within. The atmosphere was great. Gentle music, happy chatter and friendly staff. It wasn’t completely packed but most of the tables were busy. [Importantly the Hen party downstairs were very well behaved!] A rather delicious Sauvignon Blanc accompanied the Seabass for myself and the ER burger for my friend. The Seabass, on a bed of baby pots and artichoke root was good but a tad too small. It definitely needs some side orders. Especially compared to the burger, which was towering with mushroom, bacon and cheese, alongside a good mound of wedges. Consequently I finished way ahead of my friend and was left dangerously alone with the wine. Desserts(a raspberry-pastry affair and a strawberry tart) were tasty but the latter was perhaps a tad too expensive(£5) for its simplicity. An observation, not a complaint I hasten to add, that’s tinged with a touch of menu-choice envy! The only real downside is that the toilets are a bit dire. The ladies/disabled loo was untidy with a stack of chairs in it. However, the lasting memory was very positive, helped no end by the the personal goodbye from one of the staff who even remembered our names :-) Definitely worth a return visit.
