Better than average JDW house. Modern, spacious and clean. Friendly but woefully understaffed like all Wetherspoons. Good range of well-kept ales and value for money food. One of the better pub options in Raynes Park.

OK pub, but nothing special. The beer festivals would be the main reason to pay a visit to the Edward Rayne I think. Otherwise it completely lacks atmosphere much like many other Weatherspoons pubs. Service was friendly and quick when we were there, but still not my pick for somewhere to relax over a few drinks.

As far as Wetherspoon’s go, this is OK. As far as pubs in general go, it’s not. It has the classic Wetherspoon’s problems — weird layout, too big… it has the feel of like, a bingo hall or something. No atmosphere, no nothing. Cheap drinks though, easy to get served and there’s nothing wrong with coming here for a pint if you sit at the front and ignore the weird hall-like bit at the back.

The Edward Rayne is a pretty standard Whetherspoons pub located a thirty second walk from Raynes Park train station. It has an open fire surrounded by comfy sofas to keep you warm and toasty through winter nights as well as regular tables and booths. The food is reasonably priced and, although cannot compare with a lot of pub chains, has improved over the years. In my uni days, Wheterspoons was just considered a cheap alternative as the student loan ran low, however, the menu has improved and is far more edible than in days gone by. The Edward Rayne stocks the usual supply of bottles and pints on tap along with a fair amount of guest beers so there should be something for everyone.

I wouldn’t advise eating here on your lunch break, the food is standard weatherspoons prices but the service is slow to say the least. I had to wait nearly an hour for my lunch(which when your on a lunch break from work is your entire break!), then when it arrived not all the food i ordered was there! The bar staff might as well be monkeys for all the charisma and brains that they have. On the other hand drinks are cheap so if you have plenty of time on your hands might be okay.

This is the latest pub to open in Raynes Park. Its a Weatherspoon pub but a new version. Previously you had the Raynes Park Tavern which was not very good and a few other bars which made you rather take a bus to Wimbledon and go for a drink there. However this new addition is very welcome. Its to the right of the station and very easy to get to. It is new and has a very modern feel to it. The drinks are very good value as they always are in a Weatherspoons and you can get champagne in there for about the same you would pay at the off licence round the corner. They do the usual Curry nights and drink specials. The people in there are a very mixed bunch but each time I have been in there its a good selection of people. I went there with a group of lads for a bachelors bash and the staff were very friendly and we had a great start to the evening. The food is good quality for what it costs and there is a nice feel about the place with fireplaces, lots of open space and the toilets are always in great condition.
