I was in Twickenham for work for two weeks and it didn’t take long for this coffee shop to become my daily go-to(only took one drink to be exact). The owner George was friendly and easy to talk to. He’s also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to coffee, and he’s clearly made it his life passion. I really enjoyed chatting with him in the morning. The coffee(I always get a latte) was always lovely. There’s a couple other coffee shops on the same block but trust me, your money is better spent here!

This independent coffee den is certainly a contender for the best coffee on the local high street. Marketing itself at the serious coffee connoisseur with the tag line«intelligent coffee», it throws down the gauntlet to the usual chains proclaiming«Tired of bland, mass produced coffee? …Well, look no further!» Underlining its theme of coffee as a science, its minimalist décor is accessorised with distilling bottles and measuring jars, enhancing the image of experimental recipes and chemical precision in its brews. Coffee comes in two sizes and various technical methods of preparation for filter/drip style. And if you fancy a bite with your caffeine injection, there’s a small range of pastries, cakes and sandwiches, plus breakfast classics such as toast and spreads, eggs and bacon, to eat in or take-away. It still looks a little rough around the edges, which adds to the impression that it’s genuinely someone’s heart-felt basement project rather than a slick new gimmick. With friendly service and a very good cup on offer, it seems to be on to the right formula!
