Loved it. Beef pie was spot on. The wife had the sirloin… Also great. Bartender was great. Nice spot.

This place is a classic English pub but cleaner. There was a fire place and couches which make this place cozy. I can’t add anything on the food as I didn’t dine here but I am willing on having a try!

I will start off by saying that I never had the chance to eat or be served here, this review is in regards to the manager on Christmas Day. My family and I made reservations for Christmas Day through Open Table. When we arrived all dressed up for Christmas diner with our reservation confirmation number, we were surprised to find that while the restaurant was full, the kitchen had closed and they were no longer serving. I do believe that it was due to a glitch in the system with Open Table that we were allowed to make the reservation and not the fault of the restaurant. It was what happened next that was so disturbing. We waited in the doorway while the manager told us that the kitchen staff was no longer serving and we could not get food. Fair enough. He did not invite us in to the restaurant, so the five of us stood in the entryway with people shoving by us, while he wanted to see our reservation number to figure out the glitch. I can understand his wanting to understand the problem, but it was Christmas Day, raining, we had said goodbye to our taxi, and we and our three children had nowhere to eat. We are from the US and we know a little of London, but not enough to navigate this one. Most things were closed and transportation was scarce. He never offered to help us find a place to eat, to get a taxi, to help us in any way. He told us there was a hotel about 5 blocks away and sent us out in the rain to walk with sketchy directions at best — with three children! I want to note that at no time were we rude or unkind. We never raised our voices and I think we simply had looks of shock the whole time that we had no Christmas diner, three children in need of food and no one was willing to help us. Our stunned silence was about as nasty as we got so his reaction was not in response to our being rude in any way. This was Christmas Day for heavens sake and there was no room in the inn, so to speak. He just let us scramble in to the night, happy to be rid of us with no where to go for Christmas. It was really sad.

I was famished and needed some sustenance quick. So I whip out my handy dandy Samsung S6 Edge Plus. Tap on the Unilocal app and found this Gem of a place. Big plus is that it’s only a couple of block from my hotel. The dining setting is industrial meets homey atmosphere kind of setting. With arm chairs, couches and proper tables everywhere. It feels like it’s a very trendy place to be. It’s a bit dim, but not too dim that you can properly see the menu. I ordered the hagis and black pudding scotch egg for my starter. Then the steak and ale pie for my main event. The scotch egg had really great flavors, the coating had a tiny hint of the hagis taste and the rich flavor of the black pudding finishes the dish. Egg was done medium which is perfect. The steak and ale pie was actually very good. The flavor of the ale surfaces quite well with every spoon full, plus the flaky pie crust meshes so well with the roux. Anyways, come eat here because it’s such a pleasant place to be. My service I experience was very nice and I would come, eat and spend money here again.

Brilliant neighborhood pub just south of Kensington Road. My bangers and mash were quite tasty — especially when washed with a pint of Camden Hells lager. Service was spot on and it was a great first time pub experience for the gals and Michael.

Perfect suburban pub! If you want Ale-battered Haddock and Chips with a nice pint of whatever ale suits you, then this is the place to go! Atmosphere is relaxed. Lots of different seating areas. Bar staff is very nice! I was by myself and felt very comfortable at this pub!

A little off the main drag, this Young’s pub was recommended to is by a couple of its regulars. We were not disappointed. The beer selection and the food on the menu were a cut above a number of other London pubs we have visited. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to any friends visiting this wonderful city.

Very rude people work there. We went twice and both times the guys behind the bar were rude.

I wanted to love it, because it’s so attractive, but the food was a but of an expensive disappointment. The fish(species?) was oily and left my fingers smelling really fishy. The chips were just ok. The squid salad was tasty, but small small for £7.5. The cesar salad was good, but also expensive. My mate had the steak pie, which he liked a lot. It looked really good. His wife had the burger, which was just ok. All in all, a nice place to have a glass and the meat pie

I quite liked this place but the missus did not. Perhaps it was too quiet when we were there. I liked the comfy furniture, the general décor, and the staff were friendly. I especially liked getting Meantime London Lager on tap, I just love that stuff. There was a real mixture of clientele — the old geezers stood silently at the bar glancing at a TV in the corner, a young couple with a toddler, two oldies who had just been shopping, and some 30 something couples. Pretty subdued and just, well, quietly relaxing. I think this is one of the better pubs in the area, but I doubt it will actually win a «Best W8 Pub» prize just yet.

Traditional English Pub. Fish and Chips and Sticky Toffee Pudding are divine. Simply lovely.

soul-less pub, usually very nice food, occasionally has an off day and comes up average. a reliable place to meet friends or colleagues for an easy after work bite to eat and catch up. not too loud so can always have a decent conversation, and service is reasonable too.

Great local pub with delicious refined(and often organic) takes on traditional pub food, and a popular quiz night on tuesdays. Large space with a conservatory at the back for better weather — staff is friendly and helpful as well

Preface: I didn’t actually eat here, I just met some friends for a drink. Its a charming pub off of high street kensington that has a very friendly atmosphere. Apparently its been renovated recently and it is quite cosy with lots of tables, some more relaxed sofa seating and a fireplace. The menu looked good, and I can certainly speak fots nice wine selection. When we left there was a crowd gathering for dinner so I think its worth a trip to try the food. Its a nice place to meet for after work drinks.

Like dmj1962, I think the refurbishment has spoiled the pub. Most Young’s venues have three hand-pumps for their real ales, one for Ordinary(Bitter), one for Special and the other for a guest or seasonal ale. The fact that only two hand pumps have been installed in the new bar seems to say a lot about the direction they seem to want to take the pub it — ie, becoming more of a restaurant. That’s a pity, as before it used to be really busy on most nights of the week, and it now seems much quieter. It seems rather soulless — too clean and modern for my tastes — whereas before it had some character, and by that I don’t mean sticky carpets and smoke-stained ceilings — it was your average traditional pub. Oh well, that’s progress, I suppose

The Brittania, Allen Street, is a Young’s Pub tucked away just off Kensington High Street. It’s a large and spacious pub, and used be a favourite haunt of real ale drinkers in the area. It had a major makeover a few years ago, which involved removing the bar partitions, painting everything a very trendy dark grey-green, and installing lots of leather furniture(including lots of very high stools with high tables). While the result is very slick, and the different spaces work well, I can’t help feeling that it’s rather lost most of its character: it just feels like any other upmarket bistro, rather than a pub. On a recent visit, it was eerily quiet and a bit lifeless. Despite listing Young’s extensive range of beers on their menu, they only had Young’s Bitter available, having run out of their summer ale(Waggledance). One area that has also changed is the food: the restaurant is definitely more upmarket, with starters from £4.50-£6.50, and mains from £10-£17, with 12.5% service charge added on top. We’ve not eaten there, but the food looks decent, and is claimed to be organic(they list their suppliers on their website), and there is an extensive wine list. Expect two courses with wine to come to about £35 a head. They also do bar food in the rather more affordable £6-£7 bracket, 10−30−17h only. So, worth considering for a special meal out, or maybe a quick drink with friends if you are in the area, but the nearby Scarsdale has rather more character, and more beer choices, for my money.
