Please don’t eat the food at this bar. I’ve tried to love it, but its simply appalling after my 2nd attempt tonight. If you want to go to a beautiful bar on the Thames with lots of charm and vibrancy them this is your after work hangout. But if you get offered a menu, please throw it as far as you can…

Excellent pub. Wish we had stayed here longer. Did not eat here but the menu looked very tasty.

Oh Unilocal!,how I love you when I travel. I was visiting Europe and had walked miles and miles around London, seeing the sights. My girlfriend and I were famished, but everything around the square was packed! We tried a few places, but couldn’t find anything we liked. I found the banker, and having just accepted a new job as a banker, I though«What a perfect fit!» So we checked it out. The Banker was everything we needed. They had nice little plates of food that allowed us to try tons of different things. Great selection of beers that allowed us to try some new things. Our favorite thing about the place, however, had nothing to do with the food/drinks. It is located RIGHT on the river! The patio has a beautiful view, and inside there are massive windows that allow you to view the river line and feels very cozy with the low, mood lighting. We loved every minute here. It isn’t cheap, but it isn’t a bank breaker, either. Definitely highly recommended. Word to the wise — you order everything at the bar, then they give you a number and find you with your food.

Five stars for location and interior and outdoor patio(though small). The prices are a bit high but the service is good and there are plenty of places to sit. I love the back area overlooking the Thames(seriously, the Thames runs underneath the overhang) but I’d grab a couch in the cave section without too much sadness if I had to.

Accidentally discovered this place during my recent visit to London. What a was a wonderful accident! We actually passed this spot(already casually busy at 10 am) when walking between an Underground stop and The Globe Theatre(just on the other side of the Thames). I stored it away for future use, and it came in really handy. We decided(totally tourist weary after 10 straight days of walking around Stockholm, Paris, and finally London) that our final day of our European excursion should be sent off in a real deal British pub. When we arrived around 4:30pm on Friday afternoon, it wasn’t too busy. Moments after settling in with our first beer– the pub started filling up with locals fresh off finishing up their work week. I’m not quite able to tell if The Banker has been around forever or if it’s a more modern establishment… it seems to be a legitimately good mix of both. Draught beer was fan-freaking-tastic and food options were unique, tasty and beyond what I’d seen in other London spots. People watching alone was 5 stars.

Yeah — totally a pleasant surprise. Helpful hint — you order everything at the bar. Go find table, make it home, and then head to the bar to get your beer and eats. I originally laughed at the menu because everything has a fancy name and description. I had the haddock battered in something specials(aka fish & chips) — as it turns out, the meal merited the elaboration! It was easily the biggest side of fish I have ever had served battered and fried. The batter was amazing and the hand cut chips just put it over the top! I paired my meal with a London Pride — yum!

Great pub. Sitting under the London Bridge and looking out on the Thames with my pint was great. Had some nice food from a well-curated menu. I really enjoyed the high ceilings and arches, as well as the fact that coming in via Cousin Lane feels a little bit like I am discovering a lost land in the middle of London(a lost land that serves Fullers.)

Ah. Mah. Gah. Seriously, go out of your way to have lunch at The Banker. If you’re a meat lover, you’ll thank me for this. The lunch menu is MILES better than the dinner menu. Freshly cooked rotisserie and carvery dishes served right before your eyes at a bar counter. They’ve got the working lunch thing down. If you have time after you’ve stuffed your face with roast pork or lamb, why not play a free game of pool(UK-style of course) upstairs? If you can move, that is. The portion sizes are GENEROUS to say the least. Save room and enjoy. They’ve done something simple in a great way.
