Have you heard about barefoot running? — Well, there’s a book called«Born To Run» and the author, Christopher McDougall, writes about how he discovered the benefits of barefoot, or in other words non-cushioned, running. The theory goes that Nike and other big-name shoe brands have made us believe that our trainers need to be well-cushioned to soften the impact on our body. Apparently though, these well-cushioned shoes have given us a sense of false security and so when we run these days, we strike with our heels first, instead with the mid– or even ball of our feet — which has a much lower impact on our bodies. Anyway I read the book, I kind of came to believe that some of this is true and so I actually went out and bought a pair of trainers that have minimal soles and thus make your body believe he’s walking on bare feet.(And to be honest, they look much sleeker than the bulky tennis shoes that you get these days.) The nice thing about this store though, is that you not only get trainers for workout and running, but also«real» shoes that don’t conjure up the idea that you’re trying to live the Silicon-Valley life and imitating Steve Jobs… Go check it out: they have a 14-day free return period(you can wear the shoes all you want and if you don’t like them, they’ll take ‘em back) and they have a long-ass warranty period(can’t recall how long exactly though…).
