The Sylvan Post is a lovely little bar/pub with a great, cosy interior, which is hidden by the brutalist concrete building that houses it. A converted old post office, you can actually sit inside one of the safes/vaults as you sip your reasonably priced pint. The food menu today(Sunday) was a little restricted, however that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes too much choice can be a negative aspect.

Came here on Sunday, sat outside so didn’t really experience the vibe inside, looked really cool tho. The food was superb and really well priced. The pork belly roast was £10.50 and huge, fresh veg, decent potatoes. Impressed. Lovely service too. Sitting outside is a bit noisy and close to the road but i think this pub is more for the cooler months. Anyway the food alone was worth 4 stars and much better than expected.

So — This is what happens when a load of choir geeks get peckish in a pub — Sylvan post looks like a post office. But it’s a pub. It’s quirky, fun and full off good stuff. With award winning Cider on tap and friendly bar staff this place is a winner.

The Sylvan Post is an amazing new pub near Forest Hill station. Beautifully decorated with old post memorabilia and vintage furniture … especially fun is the feature wall plastered in stamps. Its interior is cosy in the back and vibrant and fun in the front room. There a several booths in the main room or some big leather armchairs to relax with a drink. The shelves offer free board games, for you crazy gamers out there. There is a very decent range of wines and beers on offer. This is not a cheap«Old Man Pub». Prices can compare with pubs in central London, but the great atmosphere and the happy bar staff make it worthwhile. They have a great Sunday Roast with a great offer for Vegetarians and also several meat options. I’ve also seen some serious man-sized BBQ equipment outside on a sunny Saturday afternoon and they always seems to have new and exciting additions to the menu.

The Sylvan Post is a neat little pub tucked back off Dartmouth Road it’s part of the Antic pub group, and inkeeping with their penchant for unusual pub conversions, this one’s on the site of a former post office! The décor gives plenty of nods in this direction, through a combination of stationery cues and some original post office trappings(e.g. all the telegrams on the walls in the gents’ toilets). The main draw for us was the beer on offer a decent selection of unusual breweries represented on the handpulls, a guest cider and a couple of interesting lagers and a keg pale ale! Flavoursome and well-kept; from chatting with the barmen they’re on top of their beer. One tiny drawback is that the furniture’s all shiny formica tables(probably picked up at yard sales) and a hard floor, meaning if a loud group comes in(like the ones occupying the table football last night) then you’re hard-pressed to hear yourself think. The cushioned booths at the end of the room make it more bearable, or if you can bag a table in the quieter room out the back, you’re laughing. We didn’t try any of the food, although it looked decent and reasonably priced. Overall, a decent boozer!
