I’m a pretty big fan of this place and have only gone once. The bento boxes are a really good deal especially with the amount of food you get and then it doesn’t hurt to add some side sushi dishes to fill that craving. And yes, I love to fake«floor» seats… Looks authentic with the touch of extra comfort. The dessert menu is a little disappointing though… Only sticky rice with coconut milk and some generic ice cream options. Overall, good meal and good service though!

Tucked away in Chinatown is this unusual, because it’s in a Chinese quarter, Japanese restaurant. The four of us were seated immediately by a charming young lady and she gave us plenty of time to peruse their extensive menu. A menu full of Japanese surprises as well as a few Chinese and Thai dishes. If you are unsure of Japanese cuisine this is the place to go. Try a bento box, with a vast choice of flavours. Three of us chose various boxes of eel, tempura seafood and Tonkatsu Fantasy. Delicious. My partner, being a little wary, chose Chicken Massaman. She stated that it was really good but preferred my version of this Muslim Thai dish(quite a compliment as Sukis version tasted great). All washed down with a bottle of warm Saki. What could be better? If you are in the area, check it out. Comfortable surroundings, great service and the price a no brainer. Four of us, with Saki, came to £78.

On a pu commandé rapidement. On a un peu patienté pour être servi. On a pris chacune pris un bento. Le mien était très bon, joliment présenté. Le plat est copieux. Par contre, les serveurs né font pas attention lorsque vous les interpellez, petit détail à part.

To be honest the food is good but the service is really bad! Staff is very rude! I won’t come back again! There are definitely other places in London where you can have good food and be treated as a normal customer! So bad experience!

We were in London to celebrate our 33rd anniversary of being a committed couple, and our 1st anniversary of being legally married. We almost always celebrate our anniversary by going out for a Japanese meal, and that’s what brought us to Suki. There are a lot of choices when it comes to Japanese and Chinese restaurants in Piccadilly Circus /Chinatown, and we chose Suki because the menu looked good and the atmosphere was inviting. The interior was dark and had a «club» feel. We both ordered a large Sashimi sampler, Miso soup, and we shared a bottle of Sake. It was a wonderful meal. The presentation of the Sashimi was a bit over-the-top, but it was all fresh and delicious. The service was a bit lacking by American standards. It was slow(just like almost everywhere else we dined in London), and the server didn’t express much warmth or personality … but he did his job. Overall it’s a solid choice when you’re in the mood for a taste of Japan.

I’ve been to Suki on two separate occasions and have enjoyed both. I agree with some of the other reviews that the staff can be a bit abrupt, but I’ve found the food excellent and reasonably priced. A word of warning to the inflexible or the infirm, the tables are recessed down into the floor, so some contortion is required to get in and out. Even though I’m fit and limber, my height and frame made it a somewhat tight squeeze. On my most recent visit I had a big bowl of beef ramen, accompanied by California rolls. Both dishes were excellent. I don’t agree that the time to wait was too long. While we waited slightly longer than was perhaps ideal for our drinks, our food came fast and hot. The cost of the meal was good too I thought, with our drinks, meals, and sides came to £28 including tip. Overall I’d go again and hope to enjoy it just as much.

I see other reviews but I might have been lucky, because my experience was FAR from terrible. We arrived there at around 2pm and were given a table, ordered our food and it was ready in under 20 minutes. I had an amazing meal, coconut rice and tofu steak over teriyaki sauce and it was delicious. and what about the price? Totally reasonable. Service was ok and all the staff were kind with us so… I will definitely come back to Suki :)

The restaurant looks really nice, if you are seeking for a nice place to chat with friends, this might be a good place. However, its ramen was disappointed. Not far from good Japanese instant noodles…

One of the longest-standing restaurants in London Chinatown(over 10 years!), Suki(formerly known as Ikkyusan) on Gerrard Street is an interesting Japanese restaurant that also offers mix-and-match food style with the addition of Thai/Chinese/Malaysian/dim-sum dishes on their predominantly Japanese menu. I particularly like some of their sushi rolls(freshly handmade by their sushi chef at the sushi counter): Dragon Roll, Spider Roll, and Volcano Roll — innovative sushi creations. «Juicy lamb in iron pot» and«Japanese pork curry cutlet» are also my other faves from the restaurant. The service is pretty okay, but when the restaurant gets busy(like weekend nights), it could be quite difficult to staff’s notice. The manager — Ellen — is always very helpful and patient though. We’ve been visiting Suki many times and always like Ellen’s service. The interior of Suki is also very lovely, if you like the dark-wood style. Another really cool speciality of Suki is that upstairs(2nd floor, I think), the entire floor is dedicated for serving Japanese Hot Pot. There are so many fresh ingredients and yummy soup stock bases to choose from. Hotpot is SO delicious and there are not many places in London that serves Japanese hot pots. Suki is definitely one of the best places to have authentic Japanese hotpot, right in the heart of Chinatown.

Terrible. Everything about this restaurant is terrible. From the service to the food. I made a reservation here for my friend’s birthday on Saturday. When we arrived, the table was not ready, we had to wait a good 20 minutes before the other 4 guests finished their food. I even reserved the table a week before and called them up a few hours before I left to confirm. Fail I am not sure where they find these waiting staff, because they don’t look like they want to work there. Every time we called them over to order something, they’d either ignore us or took ages to come over. And when they did come over, they were rude. I was here once before, and I don’t remember neither the food nor service were this bad. That was the reason I came back to Suki with my friends. They all were disappointed with the whole experience. I will not be coming back here ever again.

I have been to Suki a few times and each time I have had good food. Last night I went with a big group and we ordered different dishes. One of them was the red curry with chicken, I have had this dish before with prawns which is good. However there was far too much chicken and it didn’t have it’s usual flavour. Which was a little disappointing. I had the Masaman curry with prawns which was ok and a few others had Singapore noodles and for me there wasn’t any taste to it. I have had the sushi here before and enjoyed it although the dumplings are too gelatinous for me.

There other night I was DYING for some Hot Pot(Shabu Shabu) and in London it is not a super common type of cuisine to find, so after some walking around my beloved Chinatown I spotted Suki and decided to give it a go. Now, DISCLAIMER: I have ONLY had the hot pot, so I am not able to judge the sushi or the chinese delicacies. For those who don’t know, Shabu Shabu is basically a massive flavored broth pot in which you cook all sorts of raw meats, fish and veggies. The portions at Suki are MASSIVE. I mean, my better half and I are good eaters, and we were both hungry, and yet we barely finished half of what the set menu brings you. The meats(we had beef and lamb) were delicious if not slightly fatty, and we had prawn, salmon and sea bass(I think) and LITERALLY a plethora of veggies including mushrooms, corn, fried bean curd, spinach, as well as glass noodles and chinese noodles. You know, Shabu Shabu is all about the broth flavor and the meat/fish/veggies freshness, and all the ingredients here were really great. You also get a lot of sauces at your table, including peanut and chinese bbq, and I cannot stress enough how much food you get for 25 gbp per person. Like, A LOT. Try this type of cuisine if you never have, it’s fun, healthy and innovative!

Came to Suki on a Saturday night for dinner because I had a hankering for sushi. Asked for a table for one and was seated right away — they had this one sad little table that could only fit one chair and not that many people go out to eat by their lonesome. Works for me! I had the house white wine, which was good, and ordered gyoza and a roll that had prawn and tuna. The gyoza came out right away and was delicious. That’s the end of the good part. I waited for my sushi. And waited. And waited. And then I died, was reincarnated, grew up, went back to the sushi place, sat in the same seat, and was still waiting for my sushi to arrive. In all seriousness, it was over 45 minutes. The woman who appeared to be the manager that night brought me over some sashimi, which I guess was a nice gesture, except I wanted my already-ordered sushi and I didn’t want to fill up on something I hadn’t even asked for. It took at least another ten minutes after this before I even got the sushi. Worse than that, the sushi wasn’t even GOOD! Perhaps it’s because I am used to shrimp instead of prawns, but it just wasn’t a good roll. One glass of wine, small appetizer, and an hour-long wait for a mediocre roll cost £28. No accommodation for the poor service. Even if I lived in London, I’d never be back.
