Like many Thai restaurants, the interior is deceiving. It looks a bit tatty and yet the food was quite delicious. Our party of three plus toddler all enjoyed our food, and I tried out the sweet milk tea which was interesting and tasty. I can imagine the workers in this area of town are quite happy to have this restaurant on their doorstep. We’ll be back.

Ordered several starters between us, which came on a fancy platter that looked good and fit on the table much better than a bunch of individual dishes. I liked the approach. The food was tasty if not memorable. The staff were helpful and quick. There was a strange chemical smell that occasionally wafted over. It smelled clean but not exactly a great accompaniment to the food.

Succhard st Thomas street next to bermondsey street is not fit to eat food. I have not been to the Tooley street one which is probably the one getting the better reviews but this is the only place to leave a review, they are connected and they are nearby. Service was terrible from the start. The pint of Guinness I ordered was sent back as it was stale with no head. The older guy who should not be allowed near customers indicated it was fine as he has served 10 pints before to others. Later the waitress apologised saying it was the end of the barrel. A bottled beer from London Pride was the highlight. Chicken wings for starter was clearly poor quality unfrozen chicken refried as it was like tasteless leather. My main was unedible congeeled chicken special fried rice with chilli, garlic and basil but tasted bland. I explained this to the old man who said he would speak to his boss when he took my plate away. My dinner disappeared along with my waiter permanently. I wonder how his discussion with his boss went, the chef presumably. Could his boss or the chef explain the whole embarrassment? We paid in full with no apology fom any staff. This sums the place up.

It was just a nigthmare. So expensive consediring the food’s poor quality, which is the same as most of thai/chinese places you can find in Camden or Chinatown. Who taught the cook how to make tempura? Tip: AVOID the old man. Incredibly rude.

I cant believe I havent reviewed this place as its a staple for me. Being the only thai restaurant in my area, I was really nervous that this restaurant wouldnt live up to the high expectations I have with all the great Thai restaurants in SF Bay Area. This place isnt the prettiest of places, but they really do keep the flavors legit. When you ask for spicy, you better know what you’re asking for! Food comes out quickly, and is presented very nicely. If you’re starving youre in luck as food comes out very quickly. I recommend: the spicy fried rice, the laab e sarn, and the green curry. Love it!

They do keep it real with the spice and that’s the first thing I can think of! I have lived in Thailand and I am Indian but even I struggle at times albeit my I like authentic and a native like me should eat authentic stops me from asking them to tone down the spice! Speed of services is a strong point and this to some extent makes it the kind of place were you would go for a quick main course after an extended evening of drinking around London Bridge. Staff are friendly and they are always looking out towards the tables keeping an eye out for anyone who needs attention. Prices are reasonable and you can have a good meal for £10 and you will think that was middle ground between getting a take away and having a proper sit down meal. My only gripe would be that the menu is really long and I can’t really find the things I am looking for on the menu I just asked for it and sometimes they have it sometimes they don’t. But all in all good, fast, fresh, tasty thai food delivered in a nice comfortable sitting.

This is one of my favorite thai restaurants to go to, specially when I’m craving for a good old red curry but service can be questionable. I’ve had both good and bad service during my multiple visits to this restaurant. However, I keep going back because their ‘gang dang’ curry is simply delicious.

Man, does this place get busy! Luckily I met my friend around 6:30 for dinner before the crazy dinner rush. They really pack in the tables so it gets a little tricky leaving the restaurant ‘cuz the servers are all over the place. I had the worst case of food envy that night. I was really boring and ordered the chicken green curry but clearly everyone else was ordering things that looked so much better. The curry was okay — nothing to rave about and most likely won’t get it again. Because the tables are so close, I kept looking over and wanted to ask what the dishes were called. I want to come back and try some of the other non typical dishes… Suchard, I think you deserve 4*s but will be back to see it through.

Not too shabby. So glad to know they don’t go nuts on the coconut milk like so many do in this town. Slightly disappointed with their fried fish — much too sweet, not enough spice(see photos). Presentation is sharp, staff friendly and attentive. Absolutely helps to steer clear of lunch hour to miss the suits and skirts.

Always good food. Always hot and tasty, I have been here many times and have not been disappointed. The menu has plenty to offer, wine is reasonably priced and servive friendly. The décor is basic and the tables are packed in, but you cannot complain about the food. I would recommend anyone to try it if you are in the area.

I’ll forgive that the waiter brought me the wrong brand of whiskey because the food came quickly, and was delicious and plentiful. The sweet and sour chicken wasn’t overly greasy or fried, and had a nice sweet and spicy sauce complimenting the crunch. I loved the hor fun and would definitely go back for that alone. They also use real cilantro(not coriander) in the dishes, which make she flavor that much richer and more authentic for me. It gets busy around dinner time so you might want to try to reserve or show up early!

With more and more pubs doing average Thai food, it was nice to eat in a place where the food was top draw. Cosy and intimate upstairs, with more seating downstairs, the place has a relaxing atmosphere, staff were great and the food has all the subtle flavourings that Thai food should. Reasonably priced, and in a good spot near some nice pubs and the train station. If youre in the area, then don’t think twice, eat here.

Me & a friend stumbled across Suchard when looking for somewhere for a quick bite before seeing a show at Southwark Playhouse. The restaurant was packed heaving in fact, and everyone inside looked happy, which is always a good sign in places that you don’t know! Service was extremely quick, if not completely courteous and the food was extremely tasty, hot and fresh tasting good sized portions too! I can’t remember the name of the dish that I had, but it was lamb and in the house Specials section and was totally scrummy! Good value, quick, tasty what more could you ask for especially pre-theatre!

After a walk through the area, Suchard seemed to be the only appealing place. The food was lovely and the service was nice too. I’d go there again :)

Suchard does not impress from the outside but hidden behind a not very inviting façade is in my opinion one of the most authentic Thai places in London. Everyone who has been to Thailand will probably agree with me that you find the best food there in the most basic places. Suchard serves this kind of food. No fuss or pretense, big portions and deliciously Thai. I go there every couple of months and I have rarely been disappointed. On my last visit I had of course their very competitively priced and utterly delicious som tum(papaya salad)(4.50). Tangy and fresh green papaya interspersed with runner beans and tomatoes, topped with peanuts and a generous amount of chilli. We then tried the Pla Choo Chee(9.50) crispy whole trout fillet with red curry sauce. The fish was moist and delicious and went very well with the creamy red curry coconut sauce and fresh coriander leaves on top. The weeping tiger(9.50) consisted of unfortunately overdone and dry sirloin steak. However this disappointment was contrasted by the lovely sauce it came with: it had the distinct taste of BBQ sauce while somehow still tasting Asian and spicy; very interesting combination of flavours I haven’t come across yet. I was intrigued by the Thai honey baby chicken(8.50). Like the fish the chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and tender. I assume it had been marinated in some kind of honey dressing because you could pick up the sweet flavour in the meat. lovely and highly recommended! I can also recommend their curries, the gaprow and the tamarind prawns among others. Avoid the starter platters unless you like everything fried and want to prematurely die of heart disease. Even though Suchard has increased their prices some time ago they are still very cheap for what they offer, the rice is included and the tip is not! Be aware though that they don’t compromise on spiciness. 3 stars means 3 stars and even I who bravely eats the most spicy dishes and actually enjoys them, nearly passed out once eating their gaprow.

This place is good for a thai fix around the London Bridge area. It is a place for a good meal after a day of work when you just wanna hang out and have something nice to eat.

Délicieuse nourriture thaï. La viande utilisée n’est pas non plus du meilleur choix, mais rien à redire globalement, pour le prix c’est une bonne valeur.

The great thing about the London Bridge area is that is has some lovely cosy pubs and restaurants. The Suchard Thai restaurant is definitely another addition and is a fantastic little place on Tooley Street which is always busy and bustling yet remains intimate. The main floor has individual tables whereas the downstairs area has a larger capacity and can cater for private parties. This would definitely make a good place for a birthday meal. The menu is vast and absolutely delicious. You can also get sharing starter platters if you fancy a taste of a few variations. The only criticism is that due to the popularity of the restaurant, the meals come out very quick and you are also expected to eat quickly in order to seat the next customers. I really hate feeling rushed to eat a meal especially when it is so good! This was a shame but it didn’t stop coming back for lunch the following week when I needed to be speedy anyhow!

Recently a group of 12 of us descended on this little Thai place on Tooley Street to celebrate a mates birthday. Seeing as the upstairs was both tiny and full we descended into a larger downstairs area with adequate space to house both us and another party. After ordering several really good Thai beers we all ordered some great food. There are a range of sharing dishes which came in handy for us and several people went with the duck pancakes. Speed of delivery was excellent and our waitress kept the beer coming so we were happy. The mains were excellent. I asked for spicy and that’s what i got. Everything was really good and you couldn’t help but sample others food. Most of all it was very informal so we could all just relax and enjoy. Prices were also very good and I’d definitely return here anytime. Recommended!

The Suchard Thai restaurant is a fantastic little place on Tooley Street which is very popular of an evening. Upstairs is very intimate with many table’s squeezed in but there is a downstairs which is capable of holding large parties. The menu is vast. Loved the duck starter to share or one of the many starter platters which give you a good sample to begin with. The mains arrive quickly and are equally excellent with some very hot dishes for those of us who like that thing, which i do. You can wash the food down with some strong thai beer and the service throughout is quick. Pricewise it won’t break the bank and you’ll probably find yourself becoming a regular here very quickly. Great place!
