Ok, short review: It’s cozy! There are little booth-y spots, and tables for two and corners tucked away for day drinking. I’ve never struggled to find a seat, which is so, so nice. Always bustling, never OMGGETMEOUTOFHERETOOMANYPEEPS. The chips are a delight!(BONUS: can get ‘frites’-style or chunky!) The staff is warm and patient with my general boozy indecision! The only issue, the only issue at all, is that the men’s bathrooms are down one flight of stairs, and the women’s bathrooms down another. I have gone down the former, while requiring the latter. I was escorted out of the men’s bathroom. There. Now you know. Let my mistake not be yours. [edited to add: I’d just had one pint!] Unilocal note: go for chunky chips! Also: Keith O.‘s comment about the occasional stench of urine isn’t *wrong*, but I still give it 4 stars? I dunno.

Standard pub but a nice standard pub. Lighting is pretty good, not too bright like some pubs. Dog-friendly. Loos are clean and nice with fancy hand soap. Nice little cocktail list. Music can sometimes suck though if you don’t like bad 90s pop.

We popped in on a Sunday for a roast and the pub itself is pretty nice! They have games for you to play so it’s a nice pub to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. I had a beef roast and it was okay on the whole! Roasts are so hard to do on a commercial scale because everyone likes it «their way». One of my main criteria is crunchy toasties and sadly they were not like this but the roasted beetroot and carrots were really nice! The beef was well done(again, not my preference but for some people that’s great) and the Yorkshires were pretty decent too! On the whole I thought it was good value. Please note, they do not offer anything for vegans on a Sunday afternoon.

Lovely spot for a date, if you don’t mind the stench of urine. While the above sums it all up, its only fair to say that I liked the Spread Eagle, but I spent about 10 minutes tactically finding seating, and texting my date to come in a certain door, so I would be the first thing to greet her; not the overpowering smell of urine that must have been originating from the toilets. Which is a vast pity. The décor is lovely; woods, blues, and soft whites; comfortable arm chairs to sink into; a small sunken recess by the bar for amourous chats; overall somewhere very nice, unless the sterile harness of the Earl opposite. Their drinks/wine menu is good for a pub; sporting the normal range of beers and some craft like Meantime, Brooklyn, and a local Camden Pils; and a fairly extensive, if pricey, wine list served by the 175ml(approx £6−7), 250ml(approx £7−8), and bottle options. While I didn’t have the food(comprising of a bar-snack menu, and main meals) I don’t think I need to; it is ‘great British pub food’, at fairly decent prices, and others around us looked pleased. Their ‘Camden Burger’ inspires a bit of a nosebleed at £16(with a normal option at £12), and comes with parmesan fries and onion rings. All in all, It would be lovely in summer, outside on the street, with a cold beer and good grub. Not on a humid night, sipping on wine, with piss wafting around the inside. (Don’t worry, the date went well.)

Everynow and then I end up there for lunch, generally for a «treat yourself its Friday lunch»! Fish finger sandwich is a delicious! Very indulgent but delicious! Fries are thin and crispy… They also offer variety of healthier options — with quinoa salads for example… Price is a little inconsistent, fish finger sandwich for example is great value for money and reasonable for a lunch offering. But then your glass of wine is going to cost you the same… Décor is nice, they also have a few tables outside which is always a bonus if the weather is nice. Service is very friendly but very slow. For the hour lunch i know, i tend to have to wait 35/40mins for food which i will then now really have the tine to enjoy slowly… Obviouslt, this is nor an issue if you are not on a timw restriction.

Stopped by to grab a quick pint and bar snack before a gig. They had ran out of my first choice, which I know sometimes happens but weird for it to have run out mid week. I also ended going for one of their scotch eggs. It was reasonably priced but nothing special. Afterwards I couldn’t get it out of my head and more of a concern than anything that it had been sitting there at the edge of the bar uncovered and anyone could’ve sneezed, spat etc over it.(25/05/2015 — Evening Drink)

Quick pit stop for a drink after dinner and a walk around Primrose Hill. The Spread Eagle is a very pretty, pub — even the toilets look good. Shame the lighting is a bit too harsh … I was lucky to have a lovely glass of wine bought for me — and parmesan cheese straws. Nice touch, makes a change from crisps and nuts(btw, I missed out on that dinner, just so that you know). Probably a good indication of the quality of their food. Overall, a bit too gentrified for me, though — may well default back to the Dublin Castle across the road.

I had a really good veggie soup here — husband had sausage and mash… Loved it.

I love the wooden finish of the place tables, floors. The place has it’s certain class over lunchtime but gets way too packed for my taste at dinner time. However, the food is great and you can have a nice time for sure.

I’ve been sitting on this review for a while, having written something a bit boring and waiting for something brilliant to come to me. You see, I visited this pub and had a perfectly enjoyable time supping two pints of Dogfish Head ale(on tap), but it was just a normal old pub. Not particularly special. So why have I been sitting on the review, you ask? Because the pub’s name is ‘Spread Eagle’, and apparently I’m *that* immature. Nothing clever to see here, no. Carry on.

Grab a pint of real ale and cosy into this wonderful Youngs pub. I love the candles on the table of the evening the old wooden floors and tables and watching the world go by at the window table(my favourite spot)

we came here on saturday night in a group of five as we wanted a place to sit and chat, and not scream over music to hear each other. it served us very well! nice ambience, friendly staff and good people watching if you sit by the big windows. it’s a little pricey, so it definitely wouldn’t be my local if i lived nearby, but it fit the bill for us at the time, so we were happy to pay the prices. they stock bitter lemon, which seems to be a rarity in london these days, but seriously there is nothing nicer than a gin and bitter lemon, so when i get one of those, it makes me very very happy :) it’s also the type of bar that stocks a variety of board games, so we enjoyed a long game of scrabble whilst sipping on our beverages of choice! such a civilised saturday!

I’ve been to the Spread Eagle twice now, the most recent visit was on Tuesday post-work /pre-food and gig and I have to say it’s a great pub! The staff are friendly & efficient, the selection of drinks on offer are great and the location is brilliant. A short walk from Camden and surrounding loads of other pubs and eateries so it’s ideal whatever your fancy! We made the most of the nice weather and sat outside which although is on a busy, main road is a fab place to watch the world go by and people watch. I also noticed a good range of boardgames, always a sign of a good pub in my book! Would definitely recommend and return.

I can’t believe we’ve been hanging out across the street nearly every Friday without ever having gone here. Spread Eagle always has a good crowd, but we tended towards another place because… well, just because, I guess. Spread Eagle is cute, pubby, and has good hangout space indoors and outdoors. Their beer selection is respectable and the staff was really friendly. I’m sure we’ll go back. Oh, and there were two girls washing a pair of Converse All Stars in the sink in the ladies’. I’m not sure what this has to do with anything, but I just wanted to tell somebody.

Love the name, love the pub! The staff is friendly and a great place to just sit and watch the neighborhood pass you by. I ducked in here to escape the rain and sat and drank a Guiness and read for hours. The seating is comfortable and I really like the décor inside. Spread the good word on Spread Eagle!

This was one of my favorite places. If I go back to a place almost every night, it deserves 5 stars. The staff remembers what I like to order, there is free, fast wifi and the food and drink is great! I love this place.

I used to go to the Spread Eagle fairly often when I lived in London and wasn’t at the Dublin Castle across the street, so on my recent vacation with about half an hour to go til our dinner reservation around the corner, we stopped by for a half pint. Maybe my memory is hazy, but it really looks as if they’ve upgraded the place. The furniture looked newer and the bar looked fresher. It was nice to just hang out and relax for awhile. I remember playing board games there. Wonder if they still have them?

This is a Young’s pub that serves 2 guest beers. This makes a big difference to me as I tend to find the limited choice of brewery tied pubs frustrating at times. Not that I don’t like their beers, I do tend to enjoy their seasonals in particularbut I like the choice. Here it was Tribute and Titanic’s Iceberg. This made for 6 available ales! I stuck to my favouritethe Tribute. The pub looks alright, but the décor is nothing special. They offer reductions to local Camden wedge cardholders. This pub is a good bet in Camden.

The Spread Eagle is a few minutes walk from Camden tube station and in the opposite direction to the busier parts of the town. You probably won’t have to fight off the crowds to reach the pub which is nice when you know you have no interest in the surrounding markets. The pub itself is nice to relax in. It was fairly lively but that has to be expected for a Sunday afternoon. Despite that we had no problem getting served within a reasonable time or finding a seat. The only other thing that I can really say about the pub itself is that it was just a good place to have a relaxing drink and talk with friends which is all you really want from a pub. It was large, spacious and generally just cosy, providing an escape from the world outside. Parking is available in Albert Road just outside the pub. It is a pay and display street but being out of the way of the main Camden attractions I found plenty of spaces available.
