Simply coffee is all you should order from here– the food selection isn’t very exciting and what they do have is pretty ropey. To be fair though, they didn’t call themselves Simply Sandwiches or Simply Cakes, and their coffee is very good and very reasonably priced as well. Probably the cheapest and best coffee on Church Street, SC is small, cosy and cheerful café ideally equidistant between the two bus stops on Church Street and so perfect for a pit-stop on the way to work.

I haven’t been to this place since they made me rubbish cheese on toast. It’s less than a 2 minute walk from my house so receiving sup par cheese on toast was a real slap in the face: I should of just made it myself. The cheese was not melted properly, it was luminous yellow and had the greasy, anaemic look of partially melted cheese. The bread was also of the thin, cheap variety. I asked the man behind the counter very pleasantly if he wouldn’t mind awfully putting it back under the grill for a bit. He was very, very rude and looked as if I’d asked him for his firstborn child. Having said this, they are called ‘Simply Coffee’ so perhaps it was foolish of me to order cheese on toast. The coffee here is very nice so in the future when I am too busy to make my own cheese on toast, I will seek out a café called ‘Simply Cheese On Toast’ to ensure that I will never again be so bitterly disappointed.

Simply Coffee is overlooks a pleasant corner of Church Street, and has bright and cheerful décor like a decent local café. They make good coffee, and the sandwiches are simple but fresh. They make some really good fruit smoothies and juices too. Prices are pretty reasonable, and comparable to most café’s on Church Street. Its pretty small, so its better to get takeaway from here. On the times that you manage to get a seat, its a really good spot to enjoy the morning sun from the large windows, and look out on the passing folk. Its a coffee and food pit stop for shoppers and walkers.
