I came here the other night for Gemma M’s Unilocal takeover evening and had a really enjoyable time. It was a Monday night, when they have a special on the burgers of 2 for £10 offer including fries. They also had a special on the San Miguel beer of 5 in a bucket for £15 and 2 for 1 offers on selected cocktails. We all went for the beer option. For the burger I went for Beef on Beef burger, which was a burger with a chilli topping. It was quite tastey but the chilli was a little on the dry side. It was also covered in loads of Jalapeño slices, which was abit too much for me. There were tons of sauces to choose from at a 50p supplement. I went for the blue cheese sauce, but asked for it on the side, as I wanted it for my fries. Not a huge burger, but managable for me. John W was the only one who did not go for a burger. He went for the ‘Son of a Bitch with No Soul’. This wa 6 wings covered in Shaker’s insanely hot son of a bitch with no soul hot sauce. He had to complet it without taking any liquids. There was not a time limit, and he completed it in 18 minutes to get has name on the fame board. If you sign up to the mailing list, they will also send you a voucher for a free cocktail. I had a ‘Blue Neon, which consisted of Gin, aromatic wine, blue curacao, lemon juice topped with prosecco. This would normally be £8. All in all, this was a fun place and the company was good too which helped. I would come here again.

I’ve been here twice now and have no complaints! The staff are friendly, helpful and prompt! I went once on a Monday to take advantage of their two burgers for £10 deal(crazy cheap and delicious), and believe it or not, it ALSO comes with fries! So you’re paying £5 for an amazing burger with a sauce of your choice(their sauce list is endless!) and then with fries too! Going on from my review of The Old Queen’s Head, it’s one of my pet hates when places don’t give you fries with your burgers, especially when the burgers are expensive. But yes, Shaker & Company have done it RIGHT with only £5 for a burger AND fries! High five Shaker & Company! The other night I went on a Wednesday for the Wingman Wednesday! This night lets you have 1kg of chicken wings for £9, served in a yummy hot sauce with blue cheese dip and celery. This visit was a bit more disappointing as the wings were quite small(despite, I assume, still being 1kg), the pieces of celery were tiny, and there was certainly not enough blue cheese dip to go around! After politely asking for a bit more blue cheese dip, I was astonished to see that on the bill they’d in fact charged an extra 50p for this tiny pot of dip… I would definitely go back here again for their burger deal, but not for the chicken wing one. I do recommend the place though, it’s got a good atmostphere, nice cocktails(nothing incredible or memorable) and yummy burgers.

What a hidden gem this place is! Id never heard of it until Gem invited me out for cocktails and damn I’m so glad she did! It’s honestly a lovely little cocktail bar, just a short walk from Euston station. It’s on a bus route — stop: Robert street — so ideal for getting the bus home after a few cocktails. What did I like about then? Super friendly staff, a great cocktail menu and a really chilled vibe! Yeah it’s safe side I was loving this place! The indie music also sold it to me. Probably not fitting with the Mexican theme, but it hooked me. Cocktail wise, I got a blue neon, which was a mix of prosecco, lemon and gin. It was the colour of the ocean and so refreshing. A total winner! After that we got a nice, sweet tequila cocktail, which was very easy drinking and in happy hour, came in at a tasty £5(2 for £10 deal). Food wise, options were kind limited burger wise as I don’t eat beef, but I got a bean patty burger, which was quite nice, with skinny fries. Not the best burger I’ve ever eaten but the portion was massive and at under a tenner, not too shabby. Gotta say, they have a stupid amount of choice for the sauce on your burger, from mango & chilli to hbk sauce to hot sauce. This impressed me a lot, I’m all about the sauce and making it hot. So this was great to see. I noticed they do wings and different food challenges, so it would be interesting to try this on my next visit! Note, I’m already talking about my next visit, a clear sign it’s a place to be in a city of full of amazing cocktails!

First night in London we stumbled upon this place. Fabulous drinks and an amazing atmosphere. The bar tenders we’re welcoming making the whole experience the highlight of my stay in Euston.

This is a cocktail bar with a pub vibe. The staff are lovely, the pizza yummy(and triangular) and the cocktails are simply gorgeous. It doesn’t have the pretentiousness of many city cocktail bars, relying on their excellent bartenders rather than irritating themed décor. If you do desire that speakeasy drinking den vibe, the basement is more stylised and is available for private hire, which had very interesting burlesque-themed party guests when we visited. In general the staff are great, the customers are friendly and chilled, and the cocktails spectacular. This will become a regular haunt for me. (Just a side note: the toilets are unisex which personally I think is brilliant, just don’t think you’re in the wrong place if you see someone of another gender in there!)

A nice little place with a good selection of beers and cocktails. One of the best in the rather lacklustre Euston area anyway. There’s a lovely long bar that should be easy to get served at, but in reality it’s generally just mobbed due to the long and thin shape of the whole place. Top tip from me is that there’s quite often seats at the back as people tend to just get stuck at the bar!

A great pub, very cool vibe about it. Any time ive ever been in it it has never been too packed so you can usually grab a seat. Good music and grest cocktails. The toilets are mixed which i personally hate — but luckily its never too busy that you have to que.

Great little bar just up from Warren Street station with small selection of interesting cocktails. This place is a hidden gem, Monday’s they have a free film night and Tuesday is comedy night. They often have promotions on cocktails and pizza. The staff are friendly, the cocktails are amazing and the pizza is tasty. The prices aren’t too bad here especially when there is a promotion on. They often have other themed nights, recently cam here for New Years Eve which was golden era theme. You can also hire the venue for private parties.

I can’t believe I haven’t gotten round to reviewing one of my regular Friday haunts yet! I really love the vibe in this bar, it is very laid back and the cocktails are really good. The staff are all great, always helpful and warm but not overbearing. There are check in offers and they bring you fresh popcorn while you drink, they have amazing sweet potato fries and they offer you a 10% Discount if you work in the NHS– what’s not to love? I have tried quite a lot of the cocktails(it is important to be thorough!) current favourites for me are the Battenburg Crusta, Barrel Aged old fashioned and I love their Negroni also. You can book tables for free, and I would recommend doing so for larger groups especially on a Friday, and they do offer table service. The Monday cocktail cinema club is always a good time too! I would really recommend shaker and company as an excellent place for leaving drinks.

Lovely bar with v friendly and helpful staff! Not what you would expect on this road in this part of central London. I highly recommend their free film club on a Monday eve– there is a happy hour and cheap yummy pizzas. Even the virgin cocktails taste great(espesh the mojito)

In the middle of almost nowhere(which is to say there is very little else around it — and I can imagine it’s more a destination and doesn’t get that much footfall from passers by), I found this good looking, highly stylised prohibitionesque cocktail bar which serves up storms into teacups(ain’t they all the rage?), long glasses, short glasses and glass containers of every size in between — all this made by really knowledgable bar staff who come across as both friendly and full of genuine intelligence on what they’re serving. Unfortunately I happened by quite early on, on a Saturday afternoon and there weren’t that many people around to be able to judge what the clientele or ambiance is like, but if the drinks and staff are anything to by then I can’t imagine it’s ever that empty or without a buzz. And how do you really judge a bar? By it’s toilets, and S&C has amongst the best I’ve ever been in… high ceilings with stained glass aren’t what I expect to find in a loo — even in London. One of the best cocktail bars I’ve ever been in, serving some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Loving it.

Super friendly and smart bartenders, a friendly manager, and a kickass speakeasy den. I got an absinthe concoction that was incredibly pleasant and citrusy. I’m always keen on bartenders who just listen to what you like and whip something up. The downstairs den is fantastic, aesthetically pleasing and frequently hired out. Awesome wallpaper, antique furniture and an awesome looking gramophone on the bar. Get in if you can!

I was lucky enough to get to try out a cocktail named after us for London Cocktail Week called Total Qype Out. I have to say it was delicious and the added bonus was learning a bit about how the ingredients are carefully selected. What I was even more impressed with was the ice cube with a curled slice of orange inside which releases extra flavours as you drink. The bar itself was nice and quirky with cocktail related decorations. It doubles up as a school during the day and has made me want to try it myself! Planning to go back on Monday as they are planning something special.

This is a cocktail bar and those in our party drinking them said they were good. However, the pleasant surprise to me was the three real ales and interesting bottled beers. Add this to a very nice place and good service and it’s a winner!

Totally a hidden gem. Wonderful cocktails and lovely welcoming bar staff who work very hard to ensure you arent waiting for long. Table service also means your glass is never empty for long. Wen here recently for a leaving do, the staff were really halpful and reserved us an area and the food was also lovely. Possibly the biggest portion of sweet potato fries I have ever seen. Massive fan of the happy hour as its one of the very few happy hour menus that includes clover club! Will come back time and time again!

I came here last night as my boyfriend«needed» to watch the england vs france football match before a gig at koko. i thought shaker and company could strike a happy balance for both of us, as it was somewhere new for me to try out(that i had my eye on) and he got to watch the game. win! when my bf e-mailed to book, they offered a special match day offer, which was either 5 beers and a burger for £25 or 2 cocktails and a burger for £25(or you could sub the burger for a combo platter). to be perfectly honest, i did at first think that the offer was to be split between 2 people, so thought it was £25 overall — but obviously it was pp. i think this should be more clearly stated(and if it is already and i just missed it, then obviously i am silly, and i am sorry!) we took them up on this offer. the football is shown in their downstairs«sports bar» which i believe is a pop up for the euros. it definitely does feel like a disused space being made use of(downstairs, by the kitchens), but i thought this was clever and definitely appreciated the idea, if not the execution. the screen was large, the sound loud, and all the seats faced the front — i guess ideal for a football match. it’s pretty small so it’s something you could easily fill by bringing a large group(bookings are obviously recommended!), which would be pretty cool if you knew enough people that liked football enough to want to do that(i do not, thankfully!) since this review is already getting mega long — onto the food, drinks, ambience and service. FOOD(&SERVICE) — i asked if i could have the salad in place of a burger or combo meal, and also add on the sweet potato wedges. the guy who took this request was charming, friendly and it was absolutely no problem at all for me to do this, which i really appreciated, given that this was not what was advertised, or agreed by me beforehand. i do think he may have been the manager or owner, because the service we received from other members of staff was inconsistent and spotty at best. when he took the food to us later, he also turned round one of the chairs so that i could use it as a table, which i thought was a nice touch :) so for him, definitely great service! my chicken, avocado and beetroot salad would have cost you just shy of £8 regularly, and whilst it was good, quality ingredients and i enjoyed it, the portion size was a bit small for a main meal. the sweet potato wedges were SOGOOD. i’m definitely glad i got those as an add on(and at no extra cost — really good customer service!) my boyfriend had the burger and enjoyed it(& the thick chips that came with it) but would have preferred it to have cheese, or the option to add this on. DRINKS — we had 10 drink tokens which = 10 beer bottles(from a specific selection, which the staff seemed to have different ideas of!) had i understood what i was paying for, i would have opted for the 2 cocktails and food deal, rather than the beer combo. i still had 5 tokens left, and didn’t want to drink another beer(i’d already had one) so asked if i could swap the tokens for cocktails instead. the guy behind the bar asked his girl co-worker and she said no, absolutely not. i thought this was a bit shoddy — sure she may have misunderstood his query, but surely she could have came over to me to ascertain the facts and check whether she could indeed help me? marks down for not great customer service. i ended up buying cocktails separately(through an offer from designmynight which was 2 for 1 on all cocktails — good deal!). i went for the cox’s gravespinner and the mumbai cooler(off the top of my head) — both were beautifully presented, and really interesting flavour wise. these cocktails are definitely different, and definitely pack a punch. i will be returning to sample more for sure! AMBIENCE — the bar has a really nice vibe, in an area where not much is going on. i don’t know how long the place has been open for, but i get the feeling it is relatively new and they are still ironing out some quirks/getting a feel for what kind of establishment they are. i think a place like this needs super slick service(the guys behind the bar are dressed like dapper young gents, which gives the impression that this is what they are trying to achieve) and i hope that eventually this is what they will build themselves up to. the length of this review is RIDICULOUS, i know… but i really liked this place, and want it to do well, so hope that my comments on it can be used to build on what is already a great little business.

I’d have to agree with everyone — the sweet potato fries rock! I didn’t get to try the cocktails but will definitely have to come back again to try. I was there for a Tuesday night comedy gig for Party Piece which had a good line up, but get there early if you want to sit!

I attended the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Shaker & Co. Overall, a really great cocktail bar. Lots of seating, very tasty drinks, and nice atmosphere. Normally I would’ve awarded it 4 stars, but have to mark it down due to them not giving a proper«last call» such that a couple of us who had purchased drinks vouchers(special for NYE) went to redeem them at what we thought was«last call»(lights up), only to be told the bar was closed — too bad. To us, it seemed like they took advantage of the captive audience on a special night. So I lost out on some cash and, in turn, some drinks. Other than that, though, it seems like an up-and-coming little cocktail spot.

Sweet potato fries SWEET.POTATO.FRIES. I am from the south(well, Kentucky, which isn’t REALLY the south if you want to get technical, but work with me here) and this place rocks my world. They have fried okra, they have spicy dipping sauce for chicken strips and they have crispy yet tender SWEETPOTATOFRIES!!! I happen to like the location(10 minutes from my house) and the cocktails were amazing… I suggest trying all of them. Seriously. A little slice of home for me… just in London. Such a win.
