Serene Spa

No frills spa where it’s almost always easy to get an appointment (even on Saturdays, which is rare). Really nice staff and less expensive than most other places in the area.

Sorry for the haters! I love this place! Fitted me in right away! And gave me a tea… and then my hour long message (for only £40) was glorious!!! I’ll be back!

I got my second massage here tonight. After the first time, I thought the place seemed a bit seedy, but I decided to give it a second shot. The woman massaging me gave nothing close to a deep tissue massage that I asked/​paid for. I’m not sure what she was doing, but she kept running her nails all over my skin very lightly in an almost sensual way; at one point she came way too close to my groin area doing this «massage» technique. She also tried massaging my front without anything covering my groin; I had to convince her to put the towel on me before I would roll over for her to continue. As far as I knew, This place wasn’t the type of place that offered a bit extra!
Apart from the above, my massage was only 45 minutes rather than the 60 minutes I paid for. When I asked about it at the front, they offered to give me £5 back because they charge £35 for a 45 minute massage and £40 for 60 minutes. I challenged and said I should get ¼ of what I paid back since the massage was ¼ short. They refused to give me the £10 and again offered £5 or to add 15 minutes on my next massage. I knew I wouldn’t be going back, so I settled for the money and left.

My husband and i decided to visit serene spa after a reccomendation from a friend. On entering the spa we were welcomed by the owner Edith whom was sitting at the reception. She gave us a tour of the spa and i booked a dermologica facial and my husband a massage at the same time which was booked for the next day. My facial was heaven with soft music and the sound of a waterfall .My husband had a swedish massage from a young Swedish girl called Julia, Both treatments lasted an hour and we both agreed the treatments that we received were far superior to any of the spa treatments that we have had from any other spa. I must say the total cost was £80.00
which was amazing as because of the ambience of the salon i was expecting to pay in excess of this. Thank you Edith for the wonderful experience .We are now hooked and have decided to book 6 treatments in advance for the both of us with a good discount.

Sorry guys, I really wanted to like you and you are awfully nice, but every time I visit something is not right. Last time I had an eyebrow fax (my first) and you burned a bit of skin near my eye. Not good. Not good at all.

With a noisy water feature, nice smells, moody lighting, clean white tiles and lots of plants, this is a bit like stepping into a little piece of rainforest-​y calmness in contrast with the busy Balham High Road it’s on!
However I went there for a wax and it was a bit rough and overly thorough. Waxing is quite delicate and the process in this salon wasn’t particularly gentle, although it was effective.
