WOMP. Disappointing. This was our big splurge meal in London and it was wayyyyy too rich for us. So maybe it’s a preference thing? Beef Wellington is so heavy that I didn’t want an appetizer because they had already given us bread and we ordered two sides with our main dish. But our server was super pushy and we kind of felt forced(and judged) into getting one. When she offered the tasting menu I replied, «No thank you I don’t eat seafood» and she was not happy about that. Like lady, clearly you want us to buy the expensive wine pairing with tasting menu but I DON’T EATSEAFOOD which are 4 of your courses. Then again with the appetizer«they’re small you should get two» Yeah… then I won’t eat my actual dinner. Ambience nice, and they were super attentive with refills. But the food wasn’t worth it and our server was way too aggressive with the upselling. The crêpe for dessert is delicious though! Much lighter than I thought it was going to be and actually a nice balance to our super heavy food.

I’ve been looking forward visiting this Gordon Ramsey restaurant in London for years. And tonight here I am, all dressed up and ready for the experience. Interestingly enough, I was underwhelmed. First off, kudos to the entire staff: Attentive, friendly, professional and eager to please. Top notch and excellent service! The main dinning room was smaller than expected. The ambience was a little lacking. Maybe some music in the background would help? We were introduced to a cart of cold Champagne right away(Yes Please!). Didn’t care much for the escargot snail, which was blend and Unflavorful. My main entrée, the scallops dish with pea green sauce was tasty. However, the three scallops were small bite size. That was another appetizer, right? I indulged in my wife’s Beef Wellington, which was cooked and sliced perfectly. The sides of mushrooms, mash potatoes and spinach were small and under seasoned. The dishes were two dimensional and appear to be missing additional ingredients and seasoning. The baked Alaskan passion fruit space was however heaven with very fresh ingredients. The food was overly good, but was lacking the Waw factor. Oh well, been there, done that. Next…

Can’t understand the outstanding reviews here. The Savoy may have been wonderful in the past; I remember coming here for fantastic meals years ago, but those glory days are long gone and the Savoy continues to trade on its previous good reputation. I don’t think the celebrity chef has added anything but his name. The service was disappointing. We were the second of two couples to arrive and we were hardly acknowledged. Staff at the door chatted with one another and we had to interrupt their discourse to ask for menus and for our coats to be taken away. From the menu I chose the smoked salmon and then the beef, both of which were tasteless and lacklustre. I won’t be back.

Last visit here was a few months ago, however, it was such a pleasant experience I had to drop a few words here. A friend and I dined from the special set menu, which was very prescriptive but oh so amazing. The 3 courses were sublime, starting with scallops, main was lamb with seasonal vegetables and desert was a fruit flambé with fresh vanilla ice cream. Although the menu sounds simple, it was executed to perfection. Service was great and all staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend a visit

My girlfriend and I were here last summer and it was one of the best dinners we have had. We had the escargot and I had the meat pie and she had the salmon. We had just had a full tea at 5pm and we didn’t think we could eat more but we went for our reservation at 7pm since it was our last day and I am glad we did. We just talked about it yesterday and said we could have paid double our tab and it would still have been worth it.

We came here a couple of weeks ago and were seated next to Tom Jones! Anyway. about the dinner! The food here is absolutely delicious. To start with my husband and I shared the foie gras and escargot. The foie gras was very flavourful and creamy, but what really stood out for me was the escargot. The flavours were exceptional; every mouthful was a savoury delight. For the main dish I enjoyed the dover sole which was cooked superbly. They de-bone the fish at the table which was impressive. My husband greatly enjoyed his rib-eye steak too. On a previous occasion I have ordered the fillet steak, which was also fantastic. The stand out side dish for me was the cauliflower cheese. We happened to be having a late anniversary celebration, so we were very impressed when they brought out a variety of several small cakes to finish. Yum! For me, the restaurant loses one star as I enjoy a little more creativity on the menu than what is offered at the Savoy Grill. I also feel that although the service was very attentive, the servers were a little cold towards us. It has to be said that Gordon Ramsey does a fantastic job at maintaining such high standards of cooking at this restaurant. It really is a treat to come here for a special meal!

Gordon Ramsay has it all figured out… English Asparagus appetizer was amazing and then out came the ribeye… one of the best I’ve had, my 10&12 yr old daughters shared the Beef Wellington and being fans of Gordon, have looked forward to tonight for such a long time and were blown away by it. cherries jubilee prepared table side was incredible… the waitstaff were all very friendly and knowledgeable and since my girls were talking up how amazing dinner was and how great the chef had done, they invited them back into the kitchen and took pics with the chefs… a night they both will never forget… thank you Savoy Grill!

We celebrated my wife’s birthday, and enjoyed an awesome evening at Gordon Ramsay’s Savoy Grill — an iconic London landmark restaurant, dripping with history. The Savoy Grill is a «go to», destination spot — and an outstanding dining experience. From start to finish, service is impeccable, but not overly formal. Art –deco inspired, the SG exudes old world charm, in an upscale and intimate setting. Food was amazing. For appetizers, I started with lobster bisque, which was finished with brandy butter, while my wife had the artichokes with pickled beetroot, and goat cheese — both were expertly prepared. For dinner –we decided on the Beef Wellington for two — a Gordon Ramsey specialty(at SG, and HK!). It was beyond spectacular. Richly presented, perfectly cooked, with a flaky crust. Sides of mashed potatoes, and English peas with bacon lardons, and confit shallot were the perfect complement to our meal. A surprise dessert treat from the staff, and drinks taken care of, from a special friend — capped off an awesome evening. The Savoy Grill is no doubt expensive, but worth every penny!

Came here for a special anniversary and my expectations were met. Servers were so attentive and funny. Dinner was delicious. The ambiance was busy yet the intimate setting was maintained. We were given a happy anniversary dessert which was a nice surprise. Beef Wellington and cheesy cauliflower were yum. Definitely enough for 2 ppl.

this was a very special birthday dinner for me and our last night in London. we had planned ahead and made reservations 3 months in advance. they were totally booked. as they are every night. their service redefines perfection! the food was absolutely amazing, delicious, great portions with an amazing presentation style. here in the US we have several of the Gordon Ramsay TV shows on and we watch them all. we now totally understand what he and his team strive for — very much appreciated, one of the best meals and experience of my life. Thank you to all that helped make this the best meal we have ever had.

There is a lot that is good to say about the Savoy Grill — the service for one, the surroundings for another. As a large group(hen do but, you know, the tamer kind) sitting down for the set lunch the service was amazing — water kept topped up, food all brought over at the same time and all of this with efficiency and friendliness. The surroundings were pretty amazing too. You’re in the Savoy so wouldn’t expect much less but it’s still pretty astounding. The food itself was good — tiny portions as to be expected with a dessert of profiteroles the standout(though too rich for some of the party). We should have got some sides to split between the table — for your £30 you still need to add sides to your main. This wasn’t a huge problem but it did feel a bit of a sting when the cheapest bottle of wine is also £30. But then again, no one expects a cheap lunch at the Savoy. There was usual large group quibble over the bill at the end — once again, proving an optional service charge is never really optional in these places. But service was so good there weren’t any complaints. For a fancy, occasion lunch this really ticked the boxes.

Having been a regular in New York at the London Hotel outpost I’ve had a love hate relationship with Gordon(I was delivered $ 200 moldy chocolate covered strawberries from room service, and have yet to forgive him). THATIS, until back to back sensational dining experiences at the Savoy Grill this WEEK! Service was flawless as were both cuts of beef. The first night a flavorful well seasoned, perfect temperature Rib Eye and for the second, what as a Yank, I call a perfect New York strip. The cocktails were great and sommeliers poured generous portions of wine by the glass as I went solo. The chefs went out of their way allowing me to order the foi gras that was a special the first night and not on the menu the second. First time I’ve had it with a mushroom preparation. Superb! In short, the strawberry incident is forgiven and the crusty bugger that is Gordon Ramsey has redeemed himself in my eyes by delivering two exceptional, memorable meals during my stay. Kudos.

I ordered off the theater menu and must say I was disappointed. I had the meat pie and figured it would be the best place to try such a dish since I’m from out of the country. I wish I would have order the Wellington instead. The service on the other had was amazing! Loved our waiter. He made the experience for me.

From the doorman and the coat-check girls and every member of the wait staff, the service here is fantastic! Both our chateaux brieande and apple tart were plated at table-side(and both were perfect!) Every other place we’ve been has claimed to have«a bar» but this is the first we’ve been to in London where they would actually mix my wife a Mojito. After she had hers, everybody at the next table ordered one!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had! Fantastic service, excellent upscale atmosphere, pricey but worth it. A wonderful place to come for a special meal while visiting London, and enjoy the history and décor of the Savoy Hotel. The Beef Wellington for two is a must-have. My friend and I had dessert, but were also served some odd petit fours at the end of our meal. Beautiful presentation, but they all tasted quite weird. Otherwise, we enjoyed a wonderful meal — definitely place I would recommend and come back to.

I am a fan of Chef Gordon Ramsay! I had the famous Beef Wellington from the trolley(on Wednesday). Absolutely delicious! It comes with red wine juice, horseradish sauce, and a side of seasonal garnish and roasted potatoes. Love it, love it, love it! :) So happy! :) The Savoy Grill restaurant is pretty(glad I had a cute little dress). The staff is sweet and helpful.

Lobster bisque was bitter with grains of sands in it. The chateaubriand was dry and tasteless. Sommelier recommended a bottle of 2009 wine, but brought back a bottle of 2012 and almost opened it without informing us. I wonder if Gordon Ramsey knows what’s going on in his restaurants, or he is too busy on TV?

Delicious, but DON’T go for pre-theatre dining! The website states that reservations prior to 7pm are limited to 90 minutes, and so we got a 5:30 reservation prior to a 7:30 show that was a 10−15min walk away. But that isn’t at all how it went down. The meal started nicely and attentively. The Arnold Bennett omelet was warm but not hot, but the entrees were delicious. However, we started to notice the time was running short, and at 7pm(when we had planned on leaving) we had to ask for the dessert(that came with the prix fixe menu) to be served along with the check. We didn’t see anyone again until 7:20 when I finally had to ask for the check without having the dessert we paid for, because our show was about to start. By the time our card was run we had to hustle to Cambridge Theatre and we missed the first 10 minutes of the show — we were lucky to be let in! I was disappointed because I expected 4 or 5 star service from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and he clearly doesn’t spend as much time on his actual restaurants as he does on his Hell’s Kitchen ones.

This was my second experience as an American Tourist at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in London. I admit that it lived up to my expectations. It is located in the Savoy hotel, and definitely appears upscale, but I admit that not all of the gentlemen customers were wearing suits and ties — they cater to the theatre crowd as well. Nice selection of wines. Appetizers were interesting. The omelette Arnold Bennett was amazing. We could have eaten it alone and left happy. This is a grill, and will grill several cuts of meat for you, cost based upon weight. We did not partake of this offer, but it looked good if you were interested in steak alone. The beef wellington was impeccable, done to perfection. Although the diver scallops were not numerous, they were flavorful. The dessert selection was a bit limited but good. I would recommend this for all Gordon Ramsay fans touring in London.

Very very very disappointed with my experience at the Grill. Although the food was to be expected, the experience was horrible. The air conditioning was too high. After numerous complaints to the staff and management, nothing was done. I was shivering as a result. The food got cold very quickly. When you pay the price the Savoy wants, freezing conditions, cold food and a poor manageress(who stayed silent when I complained to her, waiting for me to find a resolution) is not acceptable in any way. The ONLY reason that the Savoy has two stars is because of the food and the food alone. Despite the fact that he soufflé had coco pounder around the rim, which tasted bitter, the lobster bisque was very enjoyable, albeit very cold. My steak was over cooked and became rather dry as a result of this(medium rare came out as medium). Overall, this was a huge letdown and a major disappointment. Let’s hope they get the heating right in the summer. NB: bring a winter coat to survive the air conditioning and a stern voice to deal with the manageress. Enjoy

Food was mostly good. Steak was as expected, excellent while the mashed potatoes side dish were overly salted. An order of duck was decent while the side dish were dominated by the sausage in it. Pick out the sausages and it were excellent. Service: this is where they failed for me. Sommelier were indecisive and seemed reluctant to make any actual recommendations for wine with the duck. Our server at one point came over, looked at our duck plate and asked how the lamb was and gave no indication she realized she messed up before we pointed out it was in fact a duck. For the prize in such a place you expect service to be spotless.

Very tasty! My husBAND is a huge Gordon Ramsay fan so we had to eat at one of his restaurants while in London… we chose Savoy Grill. Savoy Grill is located in the super swanky Savoy Hotel. The restaurant is equal in grandeur to the hotel. Just simply gorgeous!!! The service is top notch and the food was very tasty. We started with the lobster bisque and tomato gazpacho, then moved onto the seabass with new mint potatoes and tomato and onion salad. I have to say, we were not even remotely full at this point as the portions are kinda small. So, we ordered dessert. We got the chocolat marquis with ganache center and peppermint ice cream and chocolate profiteroles. OMG… soooo good. At this point, we were about to explode!!! We left so full and satisfied that we went back to our hotel and crawled into bed. At 11 pm!!! This is unheard of for me!!! I would definitely recommend a night at Savoy Grill if you are in the area!!!

Unilocal comes through again… Gordon Ramsey style. I was tasked with finding a suitable dinner location(that took reservations) and could get us swiftly on our way to a show at the Noël Coward Theater by 730pm. A quick Unilocal search led me to The Savoy Grill, an upscale eatery within a beautiful hotel that had a history of getting theater patrons off to their shows on time. Done and done, reservation easily booked, and we were in business. We arrived promptly at 530, enjoyed a beautiful meal and arrived to our show with time to spare, easily catching a quick taxi from the hotel. Couldn’t have been easier. The food was absolutely lovely — a refined British menu. Simple, yet fancy. Well priced for the area(ignore the price rating — it’s truly not so pricey for London). I enjoyed the ham and chicken pie with a decadent cream sauce, mashed potatoes and a few chips I stole from my husband. The table also enjoyed a New York strip, halibut and the lamb roll. There was not one bit of descent from the crowd. Everyone was happily satisfied and stuffed. The service was excellent from start to finish. Welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable. Quick with drinks, wine and the food, which was important as we were on a timed schedule. Though they never made it feel rushed. It’s got the old school charm of a classy restaurant — without being stuffy. The crowd was mixed with hotel guests, theater goers, some tourists, young, old. The menu will surely strike just about anyone’s fancy — perhaps, maybe not vegetarians, but I’m sure there were even a few things for them. Would surely return. My first Gordon Ramsey restaurant — and I have to say, it lives up to the legend. Headed to a show? This is your spot for a nice dinner beforehand. Thank me later and send me some chicken pie!

I was looking so forward to having a meal at one of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants. I guess all that anticipation led to a bit of overhype for me. My thoughts and expectations of what the meal would be was much higher than the actual meal was. From a value standpoint, I have to say the name has given the establishment prices that are absurdly high. I honestly could have passed on the whole thing. Dinner there started with the farmhouse terrine. I got sucked into it as an appetizer because of the foie gras parfait that was served along side it. It was a solid dish. The meat was succulent and you get the decadence that is added by the foie gras. The green tomato chutney adds a bit of acid to bring everything together and brighten up everything. The dim lighting of the restaurant kind of obscures the ability to see the elegant plating of the dish. I think my fault came in when it came to the entrée selection. I think I would have been much better off if if I went with one of the many selections from the«Roasts, Braises and Pies» section of the menu. Don’t get me wrong my Rib Eye steak was pretty good. Cooked to the perfect temperature and was very juicy and didn’t need much of the sauce. However when I look at the menu and I compare that steak at £34 to a lamb wellington at £26, I kind of feel like an idiot for my selection. You do get a nice flavor from the wood grill, but that particular steak was slightly overpriced in my opinion. Though I was ready to burst by this point I still decided to try out dessert, I went for the raspberry soufflé. About as light delicate and perfect as anything in I can remember, I suddenly felt betrayed by my stomach’s inability to finish consuming it. It was a really good dessert non the less.
