Went to London a few times last year and ate here the first time because I couldn’t decide on anything. I like the sandwiches, specifically the avocado/bacon baguette. I liked it so much I’d make sure to stop there whenever I was around the South Bank area. My travel-buddy was into the jacket potato. Everything is reasonably priced, so we were happy campers. I’ll definitely stop by next time I’m in London.

I’ve heard many people say that this is a great sandwich shop, so I thought I’d go try it out. They have a good selection of sandwiches and a good blend of flavours but I wouldn’t say it’s as amazing as people say. I tried the chicken and avocado sandwich for lunch and I have to say I thought the bread was a bit hard and dry. The filling however made up for that so overall it was ok. The best part of the shop is actually the outside seating so you can enjoy the sun when it’s warm. However, it’s not enough for me to justify going back and I would much rather get a sandwich from Eat and sit on a bench instead.

Awww. How can Sarni’s have such a bad rep. Sarni’s. Says what it is on the tin really. Simple As. If you don’t want to pay and arm and a leg, fight the tourist crowds or have a full sit down meal then Sarni’s is a good alternative in the area. Been to the National Theatre, Southbank, river? Peckish? Oh darn, it’s a bit of a walk to a tesco or asda… *let the light shine down on Sarni’s’

Sarni’s has some competition as it’s not the only sandwich /expresso snack /lunchtime place in Gabriel’s Wharf on the Southbank. From the outside, this place seems pretty cheap and cheerful. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and pretty cheap so if you are on a budget, this is really perfect. However, there are so many great places around here, this really isn’t the best. For superb bagels, for instance, somewhere like Bagel Street just does it better or there are a plethora of Japanese Cafes and French Patisseries around the place. Sarni’s doesn’t offer anything I couldn’t just make at home for free so I’d rather give this one a miss unless you are really starving…
