I fancied a burrito so thought I’d search Unilocal, where I discovered Santana’s. The review recommended the Chicken & Chorizo Tinga, so for £6.50 I gave it a try(also has guacamole and coleslaw added) The guys had only just set up and I was the first customer, which was lucky, as they were saying that the queues for this stall stretch half way up the street. I can understand why, they don’t scrimp on the servings, and a friendly too. As for the final product… Put Mexican heaven! Top quality ingredients that were well put together, this beSt was huge, and I relevantly had to leave the last quarter as I was so full. As a previous reviewer stated, this place and Daddy Donkey’s are two of the best places I have ever been to for street food. A must visit for any true Mexican food fanatic

For the longest time I had been saying that Strutton Ground needed a mexican street food stand — and low and behold about year and a half ago, Santana Grill arrived. I quickly became a regular as frankly, there’s nothing bad on the menu but some things are just really exceptional. For one, the chicken tinga is the best I’ve had — period. It’s slow cooked with slices of chorizo and is so flavourful it’s unbelievable. Just thinking about it now is making my mouth water. The pulled pork is also really good and is right up there with my favourites anywhere — you can tell that they haven’t just dumped the same spice mix on both — and although they don’t advertise it, they’re more than happy to give you a half and half if you want both. But their burritos are more than just that — they make their own guacamole and it’s just brilliant, and something I don’t normally praise at a Mexican place — the salad accompaniments are also really good. The cabbage slaw is a particular favourite and goes really well with the pork. Their hot sauces are also made in house and the chipotle one is just awesome. This area has an over abundance of Mexican burrito places now with three within a few minutes walk — but the fact that you will have to queue for at least five minutes to get served at Santana Grill is a testiment of the quality that they produce. If you’re like me and don’t want to try to eat a messy burrito at your desk then you can get it in a box too — and trust me, they don’t skimp on the portions! I’ve eaten at quite a few different Mexican places around London and I rate Santana Grill and Daddy Donkey as the two very best.
