Is so far away from the main road, and all the big shop next to it are always empty, no wonder some are already closed

This place is huuuuuuuuge! Certainly too much for me to deal with if I’m not wearing my specs — the overpowering whiteness and the vast expanse of the place would play havoc with my peepers — but pretty great for finding anything and everything you could possibly need or want foodwise. I was pretty excited recently to find packs of jumbo seeded pretzels, perfect for snacking on the bus home, plus their range of vegetarian frozen goods is really impressive, unlike my local Sainsburys which is pathetic in that area. Beware the lovely deli counter, where you could spend far too much money on one glorious picnic.

I really like this branch of Sainsburys, because it is massive. I have never had any problems with this store. I like the huge amount of choice and variety. I really like the roast chickens that they cook on the spit it’s very tasty indeed. I also like their bakery and deli too. Very good quality and value indeed.

This massive Sainsburys has always been my life saver and I love going here. Because it is so huge it turns into a day trip when I go there with my friends, and because it is right next to uni halls it is always full of students, buying all the basics fare. I never do(even though sainsburys basics muesli is actually quite good) because if you go late at night(or before 10 p, m the closing time) you can always find amazing reductions at the counters(sea bass sea bass sea bass!) and on the reduced aisle(that would be 27). I know all of the staff, especially at the deli where they are very generous with samples. Sainsburys has some good policies, they give out good recipie ideas and generally seem excited about food, without raising their prices to extortion. Therefore I am glad that this branch is my local.

Shelf units exude a combination of blood and ‘fish juice’. Meal moth grub garnish? Try something new today? No thanks! An update — I have a letter from the CEO of Sainsbury’s(power of Qype?). It offers an insipid apology but no reference to the issues raised(in this review — see below — and in my direct letter to him). Avoid Sainsbury’s. They clearly care nothing for their customers.* The Sainsbury’s at New Cross Gate, a huge supermarket, suffers from many of the same problems that jojeba and johnsibly have pointed out at the Borough branch. Shelves, trolleys. .. almost everything, looks run down at this branch. But, there is far worse. The shelf unit that carries the fish cakes, smoked salmon and haddock etc.(not the fresh fish counter) is rusty and has what can only described as a combination of blood and ‘fish juice’ dripping off it. That suggests broken packets of fish that have gone off in less than optimal storage temparatures. It really makes me wonder about their fresh fish counter. The shelves carrying(other) meat products are just as bad with beef blood and lamb fat visible on their respective shelves. Recent reports from other shoppers whom I know well allege that there are meal moth grubs in the packets of dry goods(rice, pulses, pasta etc) — if true, this raises questions about storage within their supply chain. People are supposed to eat food from here? Despite several complaints, Sainsbury’s CEO and local store management seem supremely unbothered. Well, maybe not quite. The Sainsbury CEO’s office suggested that I go to the New Cross Gate store and ‘shop’ with the store manager so he could see what I and several other shoppers have been complaining about. How about their store manager just looking at the store and the way that customers react to it? Why would I want to bother when they can’t seem to take on board what people are saying to them? Why are the staff so unmotivated to say or do anything? What does that say about the organisation?
