I was a fan. I usually drove to this place to do our weekly grocery shopping, happily collecting nectar points and filling fuel from the nearby Sainsbury petrol station. But this is now closed. Not exactly sure what the reason is. The store has now moved to I hope that helps if you were planning to go here. By the way, IKEA is coming here so you can still go there to purchase furniture that ships like a puzzle.

I was surprised that for its size this sainsbury’s lacked a lot of items that I was looking for.

It’s ‘a-okay’ for certain things that don’t seem to be readily available at other shops around my part of town. Two of those things are white vinegar and silken tofu. Having said that, I’ve recently discovered that silken tofu can be had in the health food shop in the Greenwich town centre. Anyway, this particular Sainsbury’s outpost is a massive(read: American-style sprawl) store crammed with lots of products from fish sauce to doughnuts to Sauternes. If you’re a car owning, one-stop-shop of a gal/guy living in SELDN, then this might be your jam.

Having this as my primary grocery source for a year of my life was incredibly soul-crushing and depressing. Carrots should not be able to bend into circles. =(

This is by far the best supermarket in Greenwich, Sainsburys is always a good supermarket with a good selection of fresh foods and a large variety of ‘world’ foods being available, I’m also a big fan of their Kids range. But what makes this Sainsburys stand out from the rest is that it has great parking(which you don’t have to pay for) lots of disabled and mother & baby parking. Heaps of trolleys(which you don’t have to find a pound to get hold of one) and even on it’s busiest days it is spacious and easy to get around. Lots of nice staff keep the tills running through quickly and you rarely have to queue behind more than one person.
