An awesome restaurant! I can’t rate them highly enough. Well an excellent start for any restaurant, I know you’re saying. But they truly were hospitable and enchanting. We got a deal on wowcher and paid a third of the price for a full meal. We only had to pay for any drinks and desert and everything else was free on the night. A wonderful atmosphere and staff. Actually ended up paying almost nothing on the night. Gave them £10 as a tip. The food was wonderful, we started with a selection of meats, cheeses and ciabatta with olive oil which was beautiful, then I had chicken and my had a delicious pasta dish, then for desert we had tiramisu and vanilla and cinnamon ice cream. We paid a total of £15 on the day, and £20 for the voucher. When you see from their menu the main course is £20 — £25, sides are £5 — £10, deserts are £4 — £10 per head and this doesn’t include drinks, you’ll see how much of a saving we made. And it was well worth the full price in my opinion. We are hoping to go back very soon for some more Italian flavours. If you’re in London and close to St Paul’s give it a go. If you’re using a voucher like we did, you will have to be free on the day of their choosing so be aware.

We had been at a bar nearby after visiting St. Paul’s and found this restaurant on Unilocal. So glad we chose it. Three of us chose the two-course set menu. All the food was delicious, as were the cocktails we had before the meal. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere in the upper-level dining area was perfect.

Humble, simple Italian restaurant near St. Paul’s where the servers speak… wait for it… Italian! So comforting to hear that warm, melodic accent while you eat delicious classics with a fine dining twist. Rucoletta is truly a find among the average and tired Italian restaurants around central London. Its décor consists of a subdued and unassuming black and white with a matching storefront. However, inside there is authentic Italian(there will be calves liver and cheese stuffed veal). –The linguine with a half lobster was a crowd pleaser among out crowd of 8. –My cheese stuffed pan friend veal escalope was perfection and made it’s way around a few plates for a slice. –The seafood bisque was a whole Noah’s arc of creatures la mer and a large portion to boot. –My trio of bruschette was nice, though the one with simply cut cherry tomatoes was slightly basic compared to its two fine compatriots. The seating is divided into an area right next to the door, a more whimsical area in the back with a skylight room, and the quieter downstairs. The wine here is gorgeous and we had more than a couple bottles between us. To top it all off, Rucoletta take the TasteCard, making this gourmet meal more than affordable. Look for their two-course dinner and lunch deals which are amazing value. And I hear they now to takeaway and delivery. Modernizing while maintaining traditional roots.

Favourite restaurant in London, hands down! Every time I have company in town, this is where I take them. Delicious, authentic Italian food and wine selection, with an extremely friendly waitstaff. What more could you ask for?(Try the tagliatelle bosco! It is to die for.)

I had the prefix Bruschetta(starter) which was delicious with fresh tasty tomatoes, the Tagliatelle Bolognese(main), which was very good as well with a hearty meat sauce and vanilla dessert which was not to my liking but my partner at his and mine. My partner had the salad to start and it was a bit too salty(maybe too heavy on the dressing), and the Pollo Paesano for his main dish. The chicken was moist and yummy with a spicy kick. We were both happy with the bill and the £31 dinner price.

Delicious mains. I tried three of them(three of us shared!) — slow roasted lamb shank was very tender and flavourful, baked salmon was nice, fresh with crispy skin and my own order of seafood semolina pasta was absolutely amazing. For all seafood lovers — I would definitely recommend it. Mozarella and tomato salad was good. Tiramisu was VERY good(beware — portions of tiramisu are a bit on the large side here!) Service was on the slow side, but that’s only negative(well, non-positive) point. Other than that — atmosphere, ambience were those of a family run restaurant, dimmed lighting, quiet and peace. I was amazed to find such cozy eaterie just off buzzing Cheapside with its power lunches and business dinners. We used 50% off offer which knocked the price off a bit so do use it if you are dining there on a weekday!

Was looking for a place in the city near my office for dinner with visitors. Rucoletta popped up when searching and reviews seemed ok. I made a booking for the 50% off entrees through toptable and had no problem for a table for six people on a weeknight. We were seated upstairs where the roof is glass and although it’s only one floor up with higher buildings around it, really has a nice feel to it with the light and moon streaming into it. In the end, none of us used the 50% off because the £14 set menu for dinner of 3 courses was a steal! My bruschetta to start was good and a large portion. I really enjoyed the carbonara and some friends the orata. Truthfully, portions in the set menu were full size! We also had a bottle of wine and there is a good wine menu. I rarely eat Italian food outside my house but enjoyed this meal. The servers were all very sweet too. Felt comfortable and I think thy were all Italian. The upstairs room is special and the food good and portions large. All a super reasonable price nearly unheard of at dinnertime in the city at St. Pauls(location location!). Really recommend this place and look forward to going back.

I have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed the meals on both occasions. They have typical Italian far. This time I had the scallops which were well done. My friend had the cod as starters, which I tasted, and these cod bites were melt in the mount soft, very yummy. The Gnocchi was tasty, not over cooked and sticky but tasty balls of potato pasta. Even though I had some problems with them honouring the booking in December, the service was good especially given a work xmas party taking place at the same time which provided some pressure for the waiting staff. This is a smallish restaurant with an upstairs and downstairs and situation very close to St Pauls tube station so easy to get to.

Excellent small and authentic Italian restaurant where you will hear Italian spoken among the servers. Happened upon the Christmas prix fixe for 28 quid and it was three courses of goodness — happened upon the sea bream — had not had before and it’s a great white fish. Also had panettone served warm for the first time in my life and now I don’t think I can have it any other way! Also excellent prices for wine!

Quick glance: + friendly staff + 2-course lunch menu at £10 — food from a la carte more expensive, looks better — service a bit slow I came here with a couple of colleagues for lunch. We all ordered from the set menu which is great value for money at only £10 for two courses. The food did take a bit long to arrive but tasted decent. No wow factor but that’s probably not necessary at that price, and it was filling. I was many other dishes flowing out of the kitchen where patrons have ordered from the main menu and the food looks a lot more appetising. Mains from the a la carte menu was more expensive though, ranging from £12−18, so you get what you pay for. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. I would like to give the restaurant another visit, probably for dinner and order from the main.

CHICITALIANFOODFORGROWN-UPSNOPIZZAINSIGHTATAFFORDABLEPRICES Located just a stone’s throw away from St Paul’s tube, Rucola is no ordinary Italian restaurant. This may well have something to do with its chefs the ever charismatic, multi-talented Luca, who was ‘kidnapped’ for the winter from a top seafood restaurant in Sardinia; the other, the brilliant Paolo Cannas(George Clooney lookalike really!!), formerly head chef at top class Knightsbridge restaurant Signor Sassi. The classy, luxurious menu may well resemble that of high-end Italian restaurants but the prices don’t. Three-course set for £16.50(New Year’s menu at Signor Sassi will set you back £88). I wanted everything on the menu. Luckily I was there on opening night(last night) so was able to try many of the dishes: tuna tartare with avocado(sublime), scallops with Italian chorizo(divine), calamari with tomato dip(scrummy), carpaccio with parmesan shavings & rocket(melt-in-the-mouth) finely sliced veal chop with rosemary(exquisite), wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil(luxurious), parpadelle with Cornish crab & asparagus(dreamy)and best of all, duck ravioli with butter & sage, for which there are no wordsjust dribbles I’m going back to treat myself to Paolo’s signature dish Lobster Pasta the finest in London, I have heard, and also surely the cheapest at £19.50. And for dessert I had too many fine Italian reds and prosecco to think of dessert. Paolo’s tiramisu is to die for! With, of course, the obligatory glass of grappa. Go treat yourself and your friends for Christmas! You’d be fools not to!
