Porchetta is one of those things that holds a very special place in my heart. If done right, you’ll have the best pork you’ve probably ever tasted in your life. To my dismay, Roast Hog did not do it right. For starters, I arrived at around 10:40am thinking I could try the Porchetta for brunch(I never did like traditional breakfast food anyways). However, the gentleman told me the Porchetta would take about another hour to make. Since it was particularly cold and windy that day, I understood that cooking time would have been drawn out, so I took the time to explore the nearby area. After about two hours, I returned to Roast Hog and the Porchetta still wasn’t ready! The guy said it would take another 15 minutes, but I ended up waiting another 30+ minutes for it. All this would have been overlooked if the food was good, but I was disappointed after a few bites. The Porchetta itself was a bit too salty and way too overdressed with herbs. The arugula helped tone it down a bit, and they have a sauce(not sure what it’s made of) that provided a nice acidity to counter the saltiness… But overall it was a let down. Lastly, imo, an essential part of Porchetta is the crackling but they provided none. Huge bummer
