Dope spot hidden away on Paradise Row, short walk from Bethnal Green station. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, banging food and excellent service. Good wine too. Would come again.

Really nice and attentive staff. Awesome guacamole! Chicken was good. Also so was the onion thing with Camembert. Only one female toilet though, so pleased I was there in the day and not the evening.

For a bloggers brunch, we thought Resident of Paradise Row would be a great choice. An easy location, reasonable pricing and a brunch menu that sounded mega tasty. Unfortunately, the service when we attended definitely didn’t match the quality of Resident’s great food. I ordered the chorizo and poached egg with rocket, served on toasted E5 rye bread with guacamole as an extra. The chorizo sausage was fantastic — the perfect texture and enough spice to give it a kick without being overbearing for brunch. The poached egg was cooked well and even though I’m not a massive egg fan, I enjoyed it a lot — soft and runny in the right places. The guacamole was the star for me though — tasty and vibrant with a great smooth texture, it worked very well with the filling rye bread. Despite the food being excellent, we did have a few issues with service — we were seated upstairs and often felt ignored for long periods. Staff also began to move tables out from storage noisily around us which was rather offputting. There were also a few issues with the food arriving — one of the group recieved the wrong salmon dish and one person’s side dish arrived when she had almost finished the rest of her meal. However — it must be said that when we voiced our issues, the manager seemed genuinely apologetic and took a sizeable discount from the bill. Overall, I’m hoping we caught them on an off day as Resident has excellent food — with service brought up to standard, this could be a lovely little brunch spot!

We were in the area and hungry. We were going to go to a spot down the road, but honestly, weren’t feeling the menu. We kind of wanted just simple but delicious eats, and luckily Resident was there. Resident is excellent, a sport of upper-class feeling pub built into the railroad arches. They’ve got tables inside(both on an upstairs mezzanine and downstairs) and outside. It’s darkly lit by candlelit and it’s nice to just sit there and take in atmosphere. Of course, you also can eat, and eat we did. We started with the arancini balls(recommended by Unilocalers and totally worth it), which were delicious and hot and filled with cheese and peas and came with a tangy tomato sauce. We also did the grilled peppers, which were ok, but could have used a sauce or something stuffed inside, otherwise just a little bland. But the camembert with bread which was amazing, thick and cheesy and hot. We polished off the bread and asked for more, and they were happy to bring it(turning out two original into six perfectly toasted slices.) That is something to point out, the service here was spot on. We were well taken care of, which was great. For our mains, we did the burger with a slice of cheese that’s cooked in bone marrow on onion bread. It created a really unique flavour’s burger, and it was thick and juicy. It didn’t blow me away in the end, but as burgers go, it satisfied a burger craving, which was nice. The only thing I’d point out here that could use some improvement are the cocktails, since they weren’t up to par to even bars in the area. The Bloody Mary was overpowered by the alcohol, killing the taste, and the margarita was kind of weak. Sad too as they seem really proud of their cocktails, but they do need to be taken up a notch. Still, the food and atmopshere and generally livelness of the place is something worth coming back for. I know I will.

Absolutely lovely place! I came here for a few drinks, their barkeeper is amazing! Their house cocktails are a bargain and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful! I havent tried the food yet, but it looked delicious. I love the idea of the sharing dishes and will definitely come back to try some! Great location in a quiet alley just off Bethnal Green station, with outdoor seating!

Ok, sure. More time in the arches! This time, I stopped into Resident, which I think I like in the day more than I would at night as quite frankly, there’s a lack of café/workspace around these parts so anywhere I can sit and have a coffee and do some work is good in my books. They’ve got food as well, including roasts on the weekend which I have yet to try. Nice place to stop in for a quick bite or a cup of coffee, also a perfect meeting spot if you’re going to collect your friends from BG and venture anywhere else in East London.

New bar in the arches. Lovely, lovely staff! Had the Mac and cheese aranchini. I will be dreaming of these scrummy balls of loveliness. Also we had steak marinated in vinegar, garlic, peppercorns and olive oil! Yuuuuuum! House wine is very drinkable. Went for a glass and am still hear!
