Never been a big fan of this area. Friendly type of service that takes ur credit card just in case u leg it. Anyhow normal beers and fries were OK.

Just terrible in every respect. The food took over an hour to arrive, during which time the staff repeatedly failed to get simple drinks orders right. When it did arrive the food was bland and overpriced. As a vegetarian I had two choices from the menu, one of which was so depressingly awful(spicy beanburger, a la Wimpy) that the remaining salad was a last resort. I could have made a better salad using leftovers from the bins at the back of Tesco. Had it not been a company paid event, I would have walked out far sooner than I did. Absolutely avoid.

I had heard strong recommendations about this place as the ideal location for some homestyle comfort food(being that I recently moved from America), so I decided to check it out and celebrate my birthday with my nearest and dearest. Naturally I went with the Californian burger, which was fairly succulent and juicy. I can’t say that California has some«niche» taste, but I suppose the avocado and bacon pairing comes close. I would however recommend adding spicy pepper jack cheese to the burger to give it a kick as the burger tasted mildly bland. Definitely trying the ribs next time as they appear to be quite the hype. The vibe was buzzing and loud, so I would recommend this place for groups versus dates.

Came here for the wings, and wasn’t disappointed. They were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had wanted to try the fried chicken, but unfortunately they were out of chicken for the day. Oh well. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger which ended up being a great choice. It came cooked just to my liking, and was full of moisture and flavor. Very tasty! Beer selection here is pretty decent. All around a good time at the Red Dog Saloon.

I am obsessed with the real Mexican/American buffalo wings~ lol I cannot tell the orgin anymore. So today me and my mate ordered 16 buffalo wings, I like the original best! anyways, it would be better if they can make the sauce … more in the way, i can lick my finger afterwards. the wings can be a biggerrrr. The pulled pork was quite sweet and savoury, dipped along the barbecue sauce and the sweet and sour sauce. Mac and Cheese is mac and cheese, I want to see more creaminess in it. maybe a few bacon bits on top will help. For drinks, the milkshake is gigantic! I love the milkshake, Their long island ice tea is also refreshing as well.

Three of my closest friends and I have always been on a quest to find the best burgers in London. Of late, we have been side-tracked as this blog has made me want to seek out all sorts of dining experiences out and about in London. Myself and Jacki(fellow burgster), recently hung out and it was only right that we check out a burger place. We headed to Red Dog Saloon in Hoxton Square to seek out their burger offering. Red Dog prides itself on offering authentic southern US fare with an emphasis on bbq meat. They talk about award-winning smokers imported from the US and techniques that include using hickory and mesquite for specific smoked flavours. I don’t know how much the hungry diner takes notice of this, but we were drawn to it because of the buzz of people and I had previously made a late night stop there. Now I have had a couple of good burgers, Patty & Bun and Dirty Burger to name a couple so I know what I like. There is an importance in the consistency of the meat(i.e. no fatty pieces or gristle), the ability to cook it as you order(mine is always medium rare) and how the bun/bread stands up to the filling(i.e. not so soggy that it falls apart). Side orders are more often than not the chorus line to the main star, so can be forgiven for being mediocre. In this case, let me first take you to the side order of mac and cheese. No. It was congealed yellow stuff that lacked taste. I go here first, because I really had high hopes for this, having watched my gran make it over the years. The burgers were okay. Maybe we caught them on a particulary busy night and off day, but it really did not pack the punch that the décor, buzz and perky staff built it up to deliver. We had the Californian burger(guacamole, applewood smoked bacon and mozzarella), Texan burger(hickory smoked brisket, kansas city sauce and american cheese) and blue cheese burger(blue cheese and bacon). We all agreed that whilst they were tasty, the meat seemed a little dry. With Honest Burgers putting in an appearance just of Shoreditch High Street in the coming months, burgers are flooding the Hoxton/Shoreditch area. One needs to step up. I am not giving up on this one though, I know they can do better and I look forward to going there again and being blown away.

I am useless with spicy food so I ordered some ‘normal’ items off the menu. My punisher burger which contained a beef patty with a good chunk of smoked pork and bacon was a real mouthful, so big that I had to use my knife and folk to cut up this beast, the patty was cooked medium but lacked seasoning and was over shadowed by the smoked pork. The smoked brisket on the other hand was very rich and well marinated with a touch of sweetness in the mix.

We had dinner at red dog saloon in May 2015 after stumbling across it walking around. Firstly service was excellent. They were fast, friendly and checked on us regularly(restaurant was also full with a line to get a table). Food was also excellent, the wife had the bbq ribs and chicken combo(£18) which came with 2 sides. She picked fries and the salad with blue cheese dressing as her sides. We shared the fries but she loved the salad. The ribs were also amazing, just peeling off the bone. The chicken also good but not as special as the ribs. In the end she couldn’t finish all the meal. I had the pulled pork chilli sandwich thingie(£13) which came with a side of coleslaw. It was very good especially with some of there Texas BBC smokey sauce added to it. We had 3 cocktails between us and total bill was £60.00 so was very reasonable for the taste, quality and service.

Best burgers in Shoreditch! Sloppy, meaty, juicy and tasty! Will cook rare on request(means it’s real fresh steak). Shakes are good too. The hot chilli sauce challenge is dangerous and best avoided and that’s from someone who happily orders madras or vindaloo in an Indian restaurant! It’s good to watch someone else though…

Went here last night for a friends birthday and to me seemed a strong competitor to Bodeans. I really like the menu, it’s on the smallish side but seems flexible so that you can pair up your favourite items(see various combos, fried chicken by the piece, three sizes of wing portions). The fried chicken with waffles was delicious, I’ve been burnt often by dry tasteless fried chicken in the UK but this was moist and the crust was spicy, a real revelation. Three pieces and the sweet waffles would have been enough but in my greed I chased it with buffalo wings. Again these were great, I prefer mine a bit sloppier but that’s just a taste thing. I tried the ribs, brisket, chilli side, meaty beans and all were great. The only thing I didn’t love was the coleslaw, nothing wrong just a bit bog standard. Drinks: £5 a pint for Camden Pale Ale unfortunately seems the going rate, and at least it wasn’t coots light. Mates had Sam Adams, which people always seem to get excited about. The staff were really nice and patient while we waited for our friend to arrive, generally efficient and smiley, I don’t need any more. They lose a star on a couple of points: the veggie options are extremely limited, granted they’re a meat place but the only real option was a bean burger. They sat the six of us in a booth, which was extremely snug and combined with the vast consumption of meat led to a sweaty affair for those by the wall.

In the heart of Hoxton Sq, salon designed burger joint. Offering selection of burgers, pork and wings, with friendly staff. I’m Only having the burgers there, taste amazing, you should insist on how well the meat is, to well and you might lose the great flavoured paddy.

Delicious offerings at Red Dog Saloon but can it contend with other burger joints in the capital? Not so sure. Service was smiley and attentive. I chose the classic cheeseburger(a great barometer of a good burger place) and while it was a big soggy the flavours were bang on. Would have loved the option to add my own burger toppings — sure they would have acquiesced but no mention of it on the menu and I was already pushing my budget anyway. Fries were distinctively forgetful. A taste of my friend’s milkshake and my gin & ginger definitely were indication they’re drinks are on point.

I have to admit I am a bit of a sucker for a cool burger joint name so Red Dog Saloon sounded promising. While the service was friendly it was quite slow as the informed us they had just had a power cut and they did discourage one of my friends from trying the spicy wing challenge. Even if that was probably for her own sake she does love a good spicy meal so I would have liked to see her try. Anyway, the burger itself was quite tasty, however the bottom bun was so moist from all the cheese and whatever liquids a burger has that is was impossible to pick up. I had to use a knife and fork to eat it and for me that’s not the best sign for a burger. Some of my friends’ burgers were the same so it’s safe to say that was not a one time incident. Anyway, I wouldn’t be totally opposed to going back but it certainly would not be my first choice.

Not impressed. Went there with 2 friends on a Sunday night. Here the details but if you only have a second just take this away: I will not return! First, we got seated by the loo even though we booked a while ago. Second, we ordered a pitcher with a cocktail. Bear in mind this should be better value for money — it is not in this place! We had to send the drink back as it tasted disgusting. Cheap tequila and watery icecubes basically. The second attempt was a little better. Food — First of all my he got my order wrong. Mistakes happen so let’s not dwell on that one. We all ordered the combo dishes — ribs and some other meat with 2 sides. I had mac&cheese. They must have come from a packet! Strange powdery mixture. The clowslaw was edible but not great. The meat itself had no taste at all unless you chuck a litre of their sauce on top. The prices are horrendous. I would accept to pay it if the food and drinks were of good quality but this is not the case so I felt ribbed off. Not coming back thats for sure.

If you’re a big meat lover then this is probably the place for you as pretty much all you can get on the menu is a lot of meat! Hoxton Square is a charming little square in London with restaurants at each corner but Red Dog Saloon is by far the most popular. Not being such a meat fan, I was quite skeptical about going to this restaurant but thought I would give it a go. For starters I went with the deep fried catfish and it was amazing. It was so light and delicate and came with tartar sauce. For the main dish I went with the ribs and pulled pork combo. Main courses usually come with two sides of your choice and I chose the mashed potato and onion rings. I found the ribs a bit too fatty to enjoy and ate most of one but couldn’t manage the other one as fat is what really puts me off eating meat. But my good God, the pulled pork was amazing! I have never had pulled pork before but will be having it again. The mashed potato was lovely and creamy and onion rings were… Onion rings. Don’t be fooled by only getting two ribs when you order a rib combo… They are massive! I have never seen so much meat on a single rib before. The staff were very friendly and tentative, which is great because they bill you a service charge. The restaurant does get quite loud though so you have to kind of shout at the person/people you’re sitting with. I think the dessert let the meal down, there wasn’t a great selection and I think they come up to your table with more quantity than quality. Great selection of drinks on the drinks menu though! See you again, Red Dog Saloon ;)

Don’t miss the spicy sauce! you sign a declaration saying you are bloody fool to even ask for it. But I did it thinking, come on, we Indian origin people love spicy food. But I swear to go, that sauce is a killer. It is the spiciest I have ever tasted. If I had taken more of it, I would have had to call 911. There are food challenges too. You pay to eat as much as can, and you also pay to try to eat the food soaked in that spicy sauce. The conditions of the challenge are pretty harsh. No water/liquids for 15 minutes after having your food with the spicy sauce! I’m sure the person who wins it can bid farewell to their taste buds and would create an upside down volcano when they go to the loo. Will post more details later

Now that I’m looking at all the pictures and comments, I’m not sure I made the most of this. Really nice place to eat, busy but seating outside is great… attentive staff and great food BUT nothing out of the ordinary– to me! I think THINK we had Double trouble and the signature burgers, which were fantastic with cold beers. The dogs b*!locks however are the wings… GETWINGSANDHOTONES! and don’t share! It’s messy, tasty and will burn you another hole… Nice place, quick easy great for a catch up… please see pics :)

I just came back to have dinner here and I have to say that the service we received was different from last ime. There has been a huge improvement. Food is awesome; I have no problem with that. Lately it was just the service; but tonight was different. We were served by a lovely lady; she was so helpful and patient with all the tables. Really efficient and always with a smile on her face(in spite of being Sunday night). The other staff seem fine as well. I’m really pleased because I love their food and I always try to come back for lunch or dinner!

Horrifying. We got take away and I was charged 12.5% service charge?! The food was horrible. And above all, the portion size of the pulled pork was so small that paying 16.50 was such a rip off. This was the most expensive meal that I have had, bevuaee it was totally not worth it. Never coming back here again ! :(

So this time it was #4 on the list of 5 places to get the best pulled pork sandwich in London: I have ventured to Red Dog Saloon with the original idea of the«Hot Wings Challenge» but after carefully reading the menu we have settled on buffalo wings for starters and then some main dish of choice. For me the choice of the main was default: let’s check their BBQ pulled pork sandwich. So far my expectations were set really high after Brixton’s The Joint and Bodeans in Soho, earlier this week. As it happened, the sandwich served in Red Dog was the worst of the trio. It wasn’t very meaty, splices of pork were hidden inside the large bun and you had to dig through the first few bites to actually enjoy the taste. Sauce — what sauce?! I had to poor a pint of some watery mud from the plastic bottles laying on the table(they are labelled with some fancy names, «Kentucky Spice» or something similar, but don’t be fooled, it’s probably ketchup mixed with some more vinegar). Alright, at least the buffalo wings that we had before the mains were kinda tasty, though chicken is not my kind of thing.
