Erm right now I don’t know how to say this but… I’ve just spent over an hour with a lady called Jessica beautifying my fanny. Yep, I just got waxed!
Ouch! Well, only a little bit ouch actually The payment wasn’t ouch, only £12.50 for a half leg and bikini wax, the service wasn’t ouch, a complimentary hand massage while I wait and the waxing… well that was only a bit ouch. Apparently it’s all about the wax you use. Aloe Vera in this case.
Rechere’s Hair & Beauty Academy is a gem. For as little as a fiver you can get great quality beauty treatments in a clean and relaxing atmosphere. No, no, don’t expect The Sanctuary, this is Tooting. But do expect clean facilities, polite staff and a friendly atmosphere. From the moment I picked up the phone and was spoken to so nicely I had high hopes for this place. Waxing places make me nervous, I’m not really into beauty treatments and I always feel that the ladies in places like this can smell my fear — or the sweat building on my brow!
It’s a training salon, so for a snip of the price you’d normally pay you get trainees (supervised) performing your treatments. You can get manis, pedis, hair styling, massages, facials, you name it and they can do it. They even cater for all ethnicities, and male customers too.
I was very lucky to have the wonderful Jessica waxing me, her chattiness and friendliness soon made my nerves calm. The Germaine Greer in me had allowed myself to become quite unladylike! Never fear, Jess is here whit a wood stick, wax and some cotton strips. Seriously these guys were great, and I shall be back. For getting the essentials done in preparation for summer this place is a must.
