As I look out my lounge room window, once again flooded with rain droplets violently hitting the windowsill, I am greeted with the familiar view of soggy stall vendors. These guys are troopers, torrential rain or gusting winds, those British strawberries will be awaiting your breakfast table. Prices are competitive with other Queens Crescent fruit tables and the service is always friendly and consistent. The produce is either weighed or determined by number and thus far, I haven’t been disappointed. They must sample their stock before opening up in the a.m. because they seem to know what similar goods are tastiest on certain days.(ie. I bought some clementines the other day after being swayed away from the brightly coloured satsumas that apparently weren’t as juicy.)

Being able to step outside my front door and buy fresh fruit is awesome. There is always an excellent selection of vegetables and fruits, including berries. Everything is weighed apart from the berries that come in a punnet costing anything from £1 to £1.80. So far everything I have bought has been less than what I’d pay in a supermarket. Plus being my local we have built up a banter which really increases that feeling of community.
