Pennies is a stunning shop and at the new location on Amwell St it is even better than before! The first port of call for beautiful and unique dresses for a special event, they have plenty of stunning wedding dresses too! I also really love the quirky jewellery selection here, all genuine art deco and pre 1960s beautiful things alongside vintage leather gloves, hats and pretty china. The prices are super reasonable too actually with lots of amazing dresses, things under £100 as well as more high end pieces, so you can definitely find a bargain alongside the diamonds and vintage harrods scarves… yum yum yum!

Pennie’s is another lovely store situated just off the vibrant Camden Passage. They have some gorgeous dresses, furs and trinkets to occupy the most fussily fastidious of vintage and antique browsers. Although it is a very pretty and grannies closet-esque space, this shop clearly has a lovingly handpicked collection which is reflected rather too much in the prices. For those who don’t have the time to peruse the markets, thrift stores and charity shops of the world, it might seem like a bargain to get the finer things of life(fur and silk) at the high end prices charged by Pennie’s, but being practically unemployed, I can assure you it is not. It’s well worth a look in if you happen to be in the area because the thing with second hand clothes in London is that there are no second chances. If it is very special, someone else will snap it up, regardless of the price and I am of the general persuasion that I would rather be broke and fabulous than envy green with £50 more to spend on wine.

Pennies aptly named after the quirky and 50’s goods sold here. The jewellery is of an Art Deco mixed with Edwardian design. Sequined dresses in tulle and chiffon, lots of necklaces with beads, nets and sparkles there lots to distract you once your in. Of a cosy size this shop has a first floor stacked with lots of dresses. But she has a good collection of silk scarves and stoles. My attention caught the sight of a feathered fan in a pale pistachio with a hint of sea green colour priced at £50.00 ish she said. If it was in pure wood I would have agreed to the price but upon closer observation the hands were in plastic. No seriously!

This wardrobe of a shop is full of stuff you might find in your granny’s attic, if your granny was particularly cool. Lots of antiques and collectables, and interesting bits of girlish attire — beautiful lace capes, silk gloves, dresses from different periods — it’s like stepping into compact other-worldliness. The shabby interior offsets the pieces on display with charm, and there’s lots to be discovered tucked away in the corners.
