So, I have heard lots of amazing stuff about the Mr Talented Fox. I agree, the cocktails were very clever in the way that they had combinations of ingredients that perked one’s ear and raise the other eyebrow. It was interesting, but as much as it could be the best cocktail, my experience was somewhat poor — no, bad. We picked this place with the intention to celebrate a new start for a foodie friend who was to leave London for a new life in Hong Kong. She is a big time foodie, a cocktail lover and a glamorous chick, what could be more obvious than a night out at Peg + Patriot, or so, we thought. The service was awful, with them forgetting our drinks, looking at us rather sheepishly everytime we ordered extra drinks and constantly reminding us to leave at 10pm sharp even though it was not busy; our bill probably came up to more than the others for that night. Cocktails started at £9.00 and I secretly thought they were rather small helpings. I would love to think that we were just unlucky that night but it is now hard for me to recommend it.

Popped in for an after-dinner drink or two. As others have noted, the cocktail list is innovative and unusual. I tried a drink featuring pistachio-distilled gin and reposado tequila, but was disappointed that the delicate pistachio flavor was lost amidst the stronger tastes in the drink. My drink also came with a comically large ice cube that protruded about an inch from the glass, making it impossible to drink without rubbing ice on my nose at the same time. The cube was eventually successfully relocated to my water glass where it lived a happy life until melting naturally; not the most elegant solution, but it kept my sniffer frostbite-free. As a second drink I tried the house gin and tonic featuring their lemon verbena and tarragon infused gin. This cocktail was more successful for me, although the overwhelming flavor was tarragon and its licorice notes, making it less preferred among others in the group. I’m pleased to report the ice situation in this drink was more typical. The atmosphere was nice – classy and dark without being too noisy to talk. I’d come back and hope the cocktails were less underwhelming next time.

One of the loveliest hotel bars I’ve been in — had a great atmosphere and lovely décor and didn’t feel like a hotel bar in the least. The staff were really friendly — no hipster posturing here — and the cocktails were AMAZING.

So-sexy-without-trying-to-be. My husband booked us for a few cocktails before dinner at Bistrotheque. He took it upon himself to do this(thanks Unilocal for helping him out!) so I was quite impressed with the selection. My preferred drink was Death on the Stairs, a gorgeous sparkling cocktail… divine. My husband got a bit saucy with the«Phở Money Phở Problems» — a take on just that, phở. What? Yes. A savoury little number with a darling garnish clipped to the side. One was enough of that — but went down a treat. My Valentine also indulged in the beer list. The staff is top notch. Brilliant cocktails served my attractive men and women in a sultry space? Sign me up, P&P.

We were so lucky this bar was attached to our hotel! The drinks were so unique and the bartenders were friendly and accommodating. No complaints. What a treat. The ambiance was really nice, too. What else can I say to satisfy Unilocal’s character count? Excellent pickles.

Been wanting to try Peg and Patriot since I read a review of it a few months back. I love trying new cocktails, and the ones on the menu sounded really interesting(and have great names). I tried a few different flavours… all were delicious and beautifully presented… but my favourite was The Brew Testament. It’s a cold-brew coffee based cocktail… I was a bit skeptical, as it has lemon verbena in it, and wasn’t sure how coffee and lemon would go together… but it was awesome. Although the cocktails were great and the bar décor was lovely(take time to read the poem on the stairs to the toilets), my favourite part of the place was the staff. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgable and fun to chat to. Living in London, I sometimes forget what good customer service is like… and I was more than happy to pay the service charge and even put a bit on top! The cocktails aren’t cheap, but they were interesting, different and most importantly tasty… so although it certainly won’t be become my local pub, it’s definitely a place I’ll return to.

If I could give this place more than five stars I would. From the outside it looks like just any old cocktail bar and the décor is lovely but nothing too fancy. That’s because they want to concentrate completely on the drinks and service. This cocktail bar is run by total pros. Every single waiter/waitress is a master in cocktail making. They advise you on what you want, they describe each cocktail as if it were a person and take so much care and pride in their job. They also are so so friendly and it pays off to just sit at the bar and chat to them. The bar offers a whole range of cocktails, wines and beer and they distill their own alcohols so everything is completely unique. The foie gras sliders were life changing, just as the bar tender described. Seriously, one of the most amazing things I’ve ever tasted. My mouth is watering just thinking of it! Also, the seaweed and bacon popcorn is just scrumdelilumptious. Finally, if you’re feeling peckish, apparently the restaurant next door called the typing room is mind blowing but we went to their restaurant upstairs and had the best meal I’ve ever had so you’ve got some great options for food after as well! Just go there right now, you won’t regret it!

Hands down one of the best bars in London. The team craft most of the spirits used in their cocktails on site leading to some truly innovative and unique flavour combinations. Some of my favourites include the Peg Martini and the ‘rye your eyes mate’. The enthusiasm of the staff for their work is infectious and they always take the time to explain how each cocktail is made and the ingredients. Aside from the cocktails the bar snacks are unbeatable. Make sure you try the foie gras sliders… You won’t be disappointed!

A very welcomed addition to this part of Bethnal Green! The space is beautiful and elegant, but clearly, what makes it great are the cocktails. I tried a few with a friend and loved every one of them — interesting and unique flavours that just blend to make an amazing and delicate cocktail. Most interesting drink I had was the Phở Money Phở Problems — tastes just like cold phở. You would think alcoholic phở would be slightly gross, but no, it just has this salty phở taste at the end. Favourite drink was the Vesgroni — love the vodka campari! The menu might not be to everyone’s taste(salt beef beigal, pineapple vermouth, mustard maple, you get the idea), but if you love cocktails, you have to give this place a try. Have to add that staff were great and professional.
