Are you a human? Yeah? Are you hungry, but not for fish pie or bangers and kale? Do you need to feed your soul? Then look no further! This is what you need. The pappadums are like like crispy, warm, flour tortillas served with a deconstructed salsa. Add as much heat, sweet chutney, and fresh veg as you like. The curries are authentic, cooked with love, deeply flavorful, and served with perfectly cooked not(the injera, as it were). Rice? Go for it if you want, or skip it if you want something real. THISISWHATYOURSOULNEEDS! DOIT! Curry perfection. You will leave smiling and wanting more. No brothel in Amsterdam is better than this.

Food tasted nice, then I found some metal in my curry.

They have wonderful staff and the true taste of Goan food. With fish, kokum(spice like tamarind) and coconut milk… I loved the fish thali and the machli gacchi… I have gone there at least 3 times and would definitely recommend.

SAMESAME, BUTDIFFERENT The food was great, we did not order much so I start with the overall rating on the good we did have Pork Goan Curry: 5⁄5 Lamb Vindaloo: 4⁄5 Bendi: 4.5÷5 This is this first time we had«pork» on the menu in an Indian restaurant in London. There is a little zest of sourness in the sauce, and we both loved it. But next time we have to try the Biryani! The vindaloo was hot and tasty. And the bendi was tasty. I like that they cooked it whole and not chopped up. Looking forward to return to eat here as we live just a hundred steps away.

Not the cleanest place in London. Pretty good Indian though and friendly service.

A good, solid place to go to for a Curry after a few drinks earlier in the evening. I’ve been here plenty of times after visiting the local pubs and have never been disappointed. Chicken Korai here has served me well on most occasions, but the menu is pretty good and varied. It’s small-ish but we’ve never really had a problem getting seated — service is nice and quick. All in all — it’s a good, reliable place to go if it’s a curry you’re after in the area.

I agree with the Unilocaler below who calls this place ‘solid’. Found myself in the area with low blood sugar levels and a craving for curry, and this place was pleasantly fit for purpose. I was impressed by the menu, which offered an enticingly long list of veggie options, and delicious sounding Goan dishes that were new to me. My verdict: tasty grub, nicely spiced(plenty of multi-layered flavour, not overwhelmed by heat). The main internal wall is covered in a HORRIBLE mural of a couple walking along a(Goan?) beach at sunset. Maybe that in itself justifies a visit. Painted in a palette of sick-making seventies colours(brown, mustard, red, yellow) it wouldn’t be out of place on the record cover of a romantic songs compilation made in the aforementioned decade. Curious to see that the restaurant opened in 1994, which begs the question — was the mural there when they moved in, or did they commission it especially?

I ate here a while back when I was taken there by an Indian friend. She regularly dined at the Palms of Goa as it was a home from home for her. She insisted it was good indian food and that the restaurant was ideal for groups. So we went… and she was right. I enjoyed the food, the décor wasn’t that great(I wonder if it has since been refurbished) but the service was good. I confess I haven’t been back since but this was by no means an indictment on the place.

Palms of Goa was solid. Prawn curry was good, but I have to say, I was a bit startled by the size of the shrimp(read: microscopic). At least there were a lot of them, though. The curry leaves were sprinkled generously and added a nice flavor, though it could have stood more spice – something was missing. the portions were decent, price hefty. Had to order my rice a la carte. Staff were incredibly friendly, and in order to diffuse the awkwardness of having to share the same table with a random patron also waiting for their take away, the bartender handed us Evening Standards. Now, that’s customer service? well, no, but it is a nice gesture. they even added a ‘treat’ to my take away; a crispy Indian flatbread that was akin to a giant potato chip. Fast service too. So, sure, I’d return, but I’d try something different.

Another little restaurant on Charlotte Street having to compete with some of the tastiest places in London but Palms of Goa is resilient and has been around for a number of years now. The restaurant serves Indian food in very down to earth surroundings. It’s a cosy little restaurant with friendly accommodating staff. The food tastes homemade and is really traditional. They have an excellent selection of starters. I wouldn’t pick this one out on this street but if everywhere else is full, come to Palms of Goa for a friendly family feel.
