Had a nice meal here tonight, I got the FRAFELTET(V) A VEGETARIANSHARINGBOARDWITH A GOATSCHEESE, BEETROOTANDPOMEGRANATESALAD, BROCCOLINI, WILDMUSHROOMSAND A CHARREDAUBERGINEDIP. The pomegranate arils, spinach and beetroot was a tasty blend with the broccolini but I enjoyed the ‘shrooms even more. And even MORE, the aubergine dip with a slight kick and rich smokey flavour. The plate comes with toasted, small bread pieces and a delicious small pot of olive oil. They also recently got take-away boxes so kudos. My husband said his Marrakesh burger was OK. We both dug the sweet potato fries; crispy with a slight kick.

A good selection of craft beers decent food offerings and a nice vibe close to the station. What more could you ask for accomodation nearby? Then perhaps well check out .kip my current favourite London abode a stones throw away. I return to the Oslo as the service is good the beer is awesome and it’s the only place I have found in the Hackney Central area that meets my need, that is not to say that it’s any port in a storm. I have mostly come for the later bar but the food may be on my radar soon. Regular guest ales and local brews such such as beaver town make me keep coming back.

Me and my friend decided to visit Oslo on a Wednesday night to get some grub., ordered salmon, avocado and potato salad and an hour later I was absolutely sick to my stomach . I got food poisoned which left me in absolute rag order for 24 hours ! I was sick, shaking, hot /cold flushes and feeling absolutely terrible ! I Couldn’t get up off my bed and was actually thinking to go to the hospital — that’s how bad it was ! Personally I wouldn’t recommend to eat there !

Fairly quiet for a Wednesday night, after I had heard this place can get quite busy. Oslo has a lovely atmosphere, dim lighting which creates an intimate setting. I had ordered the Oslo burger, which was truly a delicious burger. I rarely order my burger meat medium unless I feel comfortable about the kitchen. Whilst my meat was slightly underdone, it was fresh and tasted delicious. The fries were well cooked, food presented well. With a cider to go along with my meal total cost was £16– a decent price for the food I ordered.

It’s weird — when I told people I’m about to go to Oslo Hackney the reaction was: «Nooo don’t go there, the music is horrible!». So I expected a club with, well horrible music! But it’s so much more than just a club. In fact, if you enter the place there isn’t even a club in sight. The club is on the upper floor and what’s on the ground level is just a very stylish and awesome-looking bar with low/well dimmed lighting and high ceiling. Just a really great and kind of romantic atmosphere all together. Food looked delicious, served on wooden plates, but since it was drink o’clock and not food o’clock I had a descent Gin Tonic(couldn’t choose the Tonic Water and he couldn’t even tell me which one he’s using, which is always a minus point for me personally). But all in all, a great and positive surprise to what people told me, uh and a shout out to the nicest security guy I’ve ever dealt with — you are hilarious!

This review is for the dance club only. I have been to this club three times. I think it is a decent club to go to on the weekend with a group of friends. The music is a mix of electro, 80s, 90s and pop music, depending on the night you go. Some of the nights there are guest DJs. Cover was 5GBP all three times I went. Overall: a lot of young hipster people, quite full on weekend nights, reasonably priced drinks, great for dancing, easily accessed by bus. Dress code: hipster cool Note: this place does not look Norwegian /Scandinavian…

Positives: Good service Nice venue Great for shows Negatives: Food was pretty bad. Overcooked and tepid lamb in my burger. Potato salad had hard undercooked potatoes.

Nice décor… That’s about it. Food order was incorrect and late. Refused to accept card payments at 23:45. Welcome back to the 1990’s Hackney!

Oslo is one of those misleading London spots. What I was expecting was a sleek Nordic space with herring and meatballs and the likes. What I got was a re-developed building(possibly a former part of the station?) with a bit of that Nordic charm, but really just a quality lunch spot. There’s lots of room, lots of natural light, a really comfortable spot to sit and eat. I got the New York Ruben sandwich and it was hot and warm and cheese and came with pickles and I truly enjoyed it. The person I was with got a burger with fries and they came in a little basket and on a board — well presented, and classic. The service was smiley, the food came out fastish and it was well cooked. Really enjoyed it and would come back.

Lucky to have this place as my local. Banging tunes on the weekend and good size space. Good looking crowd there too!

I’m disappointed to have to write this review. Since Oslo opened, I’ve had quite a few friends who have had bad experiences there… most of them stemming from bad service and rude staff. I, however, had always had a decent time(although…had only been there for early evenings and for live music gigs)…and have defended the place. Unfortunately, tonight my opinion has changed. A friend and I were going to meet for one drink before we called it a night… Oslo was on the way home for both of us, so we decided to go there. However on Saturday nights, they charge £5 in after 11pm(which I was unaware of). I arrived at 11:08, and my friend had arrived before 11 and had already gone it. As were only staying for one drink, I didn’t really fancy paying to go in… however, my friend’s phone had died. So, I politely asked the bouncer if I could leave my purse/phone/etc as collateral and run in and get my friend… and he said no. When I asked why not, he became very rude, and said there was no way I could go in without paying. I said I wanted to ask the girl taking the cash, and he got very condescending, told me he made the rules(although he backtracked on that statement later, saying management made the rules and he just took orders)…and it was just too bad if I didn’t want to pay in. I understand that bouncers have to deal with a lot of drunk, idiotic people. however, at this point it was only 11pm, there was hardly a line, no idiots around… and I was being perfectly polite, pleasant, and sober… yet he immediately was«mr big man»(and he was big), and would hardly give me a chance to ask a question. As I said, I’ve had other friends who have had bad experiences, especially with the bouncers… with one going so far as picking up my friend(a small, non-threatening girl) and dropping her on her knees(she reported her treatment to the police). After all that… if I’m honest, I can’t say I’ll never go to Oslo again… as there are often good gigs there. However, I will only ever go there again to see a band. I’ll never again suggest it as a bar to just get a drink at, or as a place to go dancing or just hang out. Plus I’ve always thought the drinks were overpriced and the food not that good.

Had lunch here yesterday — great venue– very stylish! Staff were very attentive and accommodating. Had the Oslo burger with fries which was delicious– but expensive at £11.50. Would go again but probably just for drinks– there are places with better value food out there.

Brilliant selection of beer, staff happy to give you tasters to help you choose. Food looks fantastic and there is a burger challenge if you fancy your chances! Great space, very social, loads of live gigs. Highly recommend!

It’s a bit difficult to review this place as it’s part-bar part-restaurant part-music venue — but I’m focusing on the food here. In short, the food all sounded interesting but it just wasn’t that good. The person I was with got a burger that was overcooked(always so disappointing) and I had a the bream, but it was pretty bland. We also shared a soup starter that sounded awesome but just… wasn’t. The service wasn’t great either. That being said, as a bar and venue, it is a really great space and would definitely go back! Just not to eat.

I don’t get it. When my friend asked me to meet her at Oslo, a new Scandi bar, I was all up for some Nordic delights. Well no. It’s a beautiful location, right under the train station, it has gorgeous brickwork, glass and high ceilings. Very stylish. Not very Scandinavian. Though they apparently claim to ‘draw on a Nordic aesthetic’. Maybe go back to the drawing board, lads. I started to suspect that Oslo was just a nice name when I checked out the menu: sliders, poutine and chicken baskets. All things that sound devlishly tasty but not very Nordic. Even though I was headed to dinner, I wanted to throw down a fiver for some oxtail poutine. You need to go here and try out the food. The service is a bit hit or miss. Mostly miss. When I asked to see a drinks menu, the waitress pointed at the food menu. I said ‘well, no, that’s food, isn’t it?’ She pointed again. What a fun game. Still not drinks. Basically they don’t have one, and they don’t have cocktails. Just wine and beer. Now you know this information, you can go and enjoy yourself with no confusion.

Love this place. It’s a great balance of trendy and historic, exciting night life and cozy and comfy. The lighting designer should get a freaking award for the job they did. Very creative and conducive to the feel of each room. The bar is what’s left of the old train station. It’s a great building and they’ve done a nice job of revitalizing it. I really like how the seating area is all glass along the pathway off the overground. Great place for people watching(and super convenient as it’s there just when you get off the station). Food wise it’s really fun. I loved the the pulled pork sliders. Some of the best I’ve had in London so far. The peanut butter cheesecake was interesting, but needs to be just a tad sweeter, good consistency though. The beer and wine selection is stellar and they have their own«house» brew that’s very affordable and tasty. The overall place is separated into 2.5 zones. The ground floor is that blend of chill bar that can easily be a nice hang out during the day where you get a nice meal with friends or a great drink later on. The upper area is the stage and a side bar. The stage area has its own bar, is decent size for a good band, but by no means too big. Very intimate, and there’s a bar just off the floor. The side area is its own bar separate from the stage and a nice pre area or a oasis from the dance floor. Kind of dive looking which is perfect. Overall Can’t recommend this place enough.
