Delish! The french green bean meze and broad bean meze are amazing. If you don’t know what to order I recommend one of the set menus as you get a great selection to share. Great place to come if you fancy eating out but don’t want to spend too much.

I had a late breakfast here. I was with my brother and we both were left satisfied with the service and the food. It was nothing special and yet, the place has it’s own appeal and ambiance. I also like it because it’s quiet in the morning.

This café/restaurant is right down the road from me. It’s really cheap between £10 and £12 at inner time for 6 starters and 2 mains. Bring your own wine. There is also a set lunch menu for under a tenner. The restaurant has some of the worst artwork on the walls whic as provided many a conversation starter. Basic tables and chairs but that is why it’s cheap and great. I’m not sure it could be improved with out jacking up the price. There are only two lads working there and they keep the place(including the toilet) really clean. Often the chaps working there bring me baclava after my dinner for free an they are very friendly. (The photo shown is very old. It has been er…‘done up’)

This place is a fantastic array of Lebanese delights. We’ve been here twice, and both times have gotten a superb meal and dining experience for student-budget friendly prices. It’s also BYOB, which is a nice option if you want some beer/vino with your falafel.(with only a 2 quid charge per person for the glass.) Our favorite dishes, so far, include the feta salad, the hommos beirtuy(which is hommos with pine nuts and some delicious extras mixed in), and any of the wraps(falafel, chicken or lamb to name a few) which come with lettuce, tomato, cucumber yogurt sauce all for under 4GBP. We also tried the lamb grill which is insanely good – tender and flavorful, a little pricer than the rest but for under 10GBP it’s well worth it. We received some free pieces of baklava for dessert which was a nice gesture, and I could have easily ordered more. Nice atmosphere too — warm orange painted walls and a cozy space for an intimate dinner or a bigger group — on our last trip we had 8 people and everyone fit comfortably at the table. For students, there is also a 15% discount during lunch… wish my school was closer to take advantage of this, however this place is worth the trek to Mile End anytime…

The Orange Room is a culinary oasis in a desert of cheap tasteless takeaways. Situated opposite Mile End Park it regularly attracts students and staff from Queen Mary University as well as a stream of locals. They come for the reasonably priced food, quiet café atmosphere and the famed mango lassi’s. When the sun is shining I often pop into this place on my way to or from the park. The food is delicious and the menu provides great choice for any vegetarians. I particularly reccomend Jibneh(fired halumi on a bed of salad) or the lovely mixed grill. To make things even better its very reasonably priced. As you’d expect the interior is predominantly orange though not in a garish or overpowering way. They also offer a range of shisha flavours so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the pleasure of smoking indoors again.
