They have no idea how to work a panini press. My bread was lightly toasted and warm, but not grilled, and the cheese wasn’t melted. Has a couple seats inside and two tables outside. Mainly a take out coffee shop.

I was on the hunt for a decent sandwich bar in Holborn while walking to a meeting. And with this one, I struck gold. Basically, I avoid your Prets and chain stores their sandwiches have been sitting around for hours and I loathe the way they carpetbomb areas. So stick your free wi-fi and insipid coffee, I like non-chain places with a bit of character. Onion is that exactly. Firstly, a clearly family-run concern one of the few remaining places around Holborn that is like that friendly, chatty, cheap and the food was wonderfully flavourful. I opted for the avocado, feta and spinach mix and it was rich, fresh and bursting with flavour. On a huge toasted ciabatta, with a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice this was perfect summertime food and at 3.70, a price nto to be sniffed at. In short good food, friendly family staff, not a soulless faceless chain. Get in.

Came here for a sandwich and it was YUMMY! The man who made my sandwich even made small talks with me which made my visit pleasant. I like it when a restaurant/eatery does that with their guest. He knew I was a visitor of the city and he made me feel welcome. The sandwich was really good too. Great customer service and good people working there.
