One of the cutest shops that serve both of my favourite items — wine and coffee :) I ordered a Gen ma cha quickly but I will definitely spend more time there.

Love this little coffee joint at Canary Wharf. I’d be honest, as an Aussie I find it ridiculously hard to get a half decent coffee in this country. Think it’s not that people can’t make good coffee, but more people just have not been exposed to good coffee culture and assume what you get at those Cosbla, Starbla or Pretbla is ‘coffee’… Well sorry, it’s not! A good coffee, without going into taste, crema, acidity etc, since they are all just too subjective, relies on just a few simple things: — the beans — fresh — the roast — sufficient — the grounds — right fresh & right grind — the water — temp and quality Notes does every one of these list consistently without fail! The grinds/beans are fresh, and the tempering and making is just right. A lovely layer of crema kicks starts a good day!(Sadly it cost!) Certainly worth a try! There’s a few shops around town, if you do care about your coffee, here’s once place worth trying!(I am NOT saying it’s the best in the world, I know a few other great places too — happened to all be owned by Aussies and Kiwis — but this one is one of the best near Canary Whatf) Enjoy a cuppa!

A few days ago I reviewed the small branch hat Notes has inside Canay Wharf station and the other day, I finally had the chance to visit the bigger and newer branch in the Crossrail building. And yes, at Notes they take coffee seriously. Because it is awfully good! This bigger branch offers two of life’s greatest pleasures: coffee and wine, as well as baked goods throughout the day, wine, craft beer, cocktails, sharing plates and tapas in the late afternoon/evening. It is a very nice place, big and airy, with floor to ceiling windows and wooden benches and tables. It feels cosy inside, although a bit cold when I visit(but it was a horribly cold day outside!) The team is really nice and they know what they are doing when preparing your coffee. Excellent temperature(I hate when my coffee is boiling hot and have to wait 20 minutes to drink it!) and excellent taste. And if you are looking for a pretty coffee to Instagram, excellent foam art as well! I didn’t try any of the food, as I was just looking for a hot drink to warm me up(and wake me up!) but I’ll definitely be back in the evening to taste the food and have a try at their cocktails! .
