Very good fishmongers– knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff, good quality fish, and not everything is ridiculously expensive. Also have a semi-permanent stall on Northcote Road, just next to Hamish Johnson. Highly recommended.

This review is for Moxon’s fish and chip takeaway bar, not the fresh fish deli. Same company, same place, different services. Why all the rave about Moxon’s? I’ve been a few times on the way home(clearly a slow learner) and have always been underwhelmed. Very expensive for a chippy, not particularly speedy on the preparation, only a few choices each night and the food quality is extremely so-so. Their chips are usually undercooked and a bit hard. The fish not particularly great. Only thing I really like there is the freshly prepared home tartar sauce.

Short and sweet: Love love love… I have only been here a couple of times and more and more I find myself creating little excuses to go back for more fish, mussels and things with pinchers. Small but perfectly formed, Moxon’s may not be the cheapest place to buy seafood, but it is certainly the best around Balham and Clapham. Everything is super fresh and the staff are there to help if you have any questions. They also have a handy little stand outside with a range of fruit, vege and eggs to free you up from having to go across the road to Tescos.(not that I really mind Tescos)
