Masala Wala Cafe

Very Tasty place. Rivals Honor Oak’s Babur in taste and is easier on your pocket although it doesn’t have the massive selection offered at Babur. This was fine with me anyway because I don’t mind having less to choose between as I would prefer to defer to the expertise of the chefs. The staff are very friendly and have a good relationship with other small businesses in Brockley. Its a BYOB place which was lacking in Brockley up until now. Brockley Deli across the street gives Masala Wala customers a 10% discount on beer which again speaks to the great attitudes among the small businesses in the area. If you want to go full out local flavor you might want to wash it down with a brockley brewery summer ale or golden ale.

Little spot around the corner from my house, discovered it by accident one hungover weekend and have frequented it ever since. Yes sometimes the service can be a bit slow but this is a fully family run business and will always be worth the wait.
The menu changes to whatever ‘mum’ has the ingredients to cook and it’s always banging.
Best curry I’ve ever had hands down and I will continue to come here forever!

I went here with a couple of friends. I had heard good stuff about this from some of my friends so I though I should get myself down there and yam on some Indian food. And wow, did it live up to expectations.
The only reason that I didn’t give it 5*s is that the service was a little slow — but it was worth the wait for some authentic, home cooked style food.
I had the chicken which had amazing flavour. Coupled with rice and chapati I was in seventh heaven. I had a mango lassi which completed the meal. Just writing this review is making me hungry again. Damnit!

Gorgeous food, no frills vibe and refreshingly minimal menu of delicious homestyle Pakistani recipes (we had 4 choices of main, 3 sides, 3 pickles & dips). All meals come with options to add more spice or make it milder if you prefer. 2 mains and 2 sides was perfect for two sharing.
BYOB is £2/​cover (Brockley Deli over the road has 10% off for Masala Wala customers — recommend the Brockley Brewery Golden Ale with the lamb!).
Staff were wonderful and clearly passionate about the restaurant, chatted with all customers even though it was a full house, felt very much at home.
Best South Asian restaurant in the area, wish this place the best of luck! Will definitely visit again.
