A teeny tiny pub that attracts some of the nicest people on the planet! Hardly big enough to fit in its patrons but they all squash in anyway, and I’d even have a go swinging a cat or three! Very friendly, great for watching a game of rugby of an afternoon, and I hear there is a legendary pub quiz that is worth popping I’m the diary. Not really much to add other than, I really shouldn’t be telling you anything about it because it’s so small, and really there isn’t enough room for me and my lot as it is, so there defiantly won’t be enough room for you! And besides, ‘wez don’t like foreigner dare, only ourz yocals!’
A very friendly, local feeling pub in the back streets of Clapham. First time there, I arrived a little bit early for the Thursday night quiz and got a feel for the place before it got packed out with the contestants(it’s quite a small pub). There are some comfortable lounges, regular bar stools and tables, as well as a beer garden out the front. I’d imagine it’s a cosy local to relax in on a Sunday. I like being able to converse in a pub, and here it was good enough for me to be able to talk to mum on the phone without shouting. Weirdly the music kept getting louder and softer, and I think that’s because the different songs on their iPod were not volume equalized!(yes, their music system is an iPod… but you can’t hold it against them) Pub quiz was great fun — good variety of general questioning and rounds. I imagine a lot of regulars attend the quiz because they delayed the start to accommodate known latecomers! Highlights were probably when the quizmaster accidentally told everyone the answer to the picture question, and when she forgot to time how long the bartender took to down his Guinness… so he had to do it again. 6.9 seconds, by the way. It all added to the fun of the night. It’s not nearby, but i’ll definitely try to head down there again to check it out on a non-quiz night, and also to have a crack at the cash jackpot. Apparently Wednesday night is curry night.

Short version: cosy and friendly pub, highly entertaining pub quiz, limited beer/cider selection, no food I went to this pub for the Thursday night pub quiz, initially drawn by the 250 quid jackpot promised. Winning the jackpot proves to be a little harder than anticipated as you have to win the pub quiz and get all 5 jackpot questions right. However, the incentive is definitely there! The barstaff and owner are very friendly and welcomed us newcomers in without a second thought. It was quite obvious that a lot of the pub quizzers were regulars at the pub and there was lots of good natured banter. I also liked that it seemed as if everyone in the pub was in on the quiz creating a friendly competitive atmosphere. The lack of food was a bit of a downer but I was told that they didn’t mind if I wanted to bring in any sort of food so I will be doing that next time. I’ll be back on Thursday for another run at the jackpot. The quiz itself is light hearted and fun without being too challenging. Be warned: if you are the last place team you have to wear various hats and you only get rid of them when you leave the pub or fight your way out of last place!

Still 5 bloody stars! They’re now upping the stakes a little — they’ve started a pub quiz every two weeks and it’s brilliant fun. Not too serious and good old fashioned banter. Live music too soon! My local is transforming. For the better.

I use this pub regulary, being a rugby fan. It has a great atmostphere on the game days and I like it when there is a clash with the football and they get confined to a small area. Come on Rugby. The manager/owner knows most of his regulars by first names and he is always happy. The real ale is very good. He doesn’t sell food at all, but the crowds still come in. There is a covered area out the back with a large screen, which can be hired for parties. Update: They now do Sunday roast, usually beef & lamb. Another update: It is under new management, still a rugby pub. Now serves toasted sandwiches.

I think I would have liked this pub a lot better on a different day. It certainly had a great selection of ales available(and the one I had tasted pretty good). It looked really nice too, especially the small outside area. Unfortunately I arrived shortly after the kick off of a big match and although I was able to find a seat in the end it wasn’t the most pleasant experience. There were so many people leaning at the bar it was virtually impossible to get served for a start.

Stopped by for a quick half and a sit-down in the seating area out front. This pub has a good selection of real ale, and seemed nice and calm on a Wednesday afternoon, but I guess that changes when the rugby is on. The seating is all covered by big canopies, so it’s probably a good choice for smokers even in bad weather. We saw an excellent big shaggy dog(who had had his tail shaved because of a wound) — got the vague impression that he belongs to the pub, but that might be wishful thinking.

Stumbled in here last night to watch England destroy France in the 6 nations. Come on England! This is a great rugby pub. When you walk past the front of the pub, a sign proudly states«This is a Rugby Pub. Bugger Off Football Fans» or somethin of that nature! A good choice of real ales on tap and friendly, efficient bar staff. The place was packed last night but i was always served within 3 – 4 minutes. Never tried the food in here, so i will have to come back next weekend for England vs. Scotland and a roast dinner!
