I visited here on the Sunday evening of a bank holiday weekend a few weeks ago and wasn’t asked for any membership, just a fiver from my friend and I to pay«the band»(as opposed to er complying with licensing laws, which I think was the real reason). No band ever performed though there was a guitar on the«stage»(the raised bit of the floor en route to the toilets). It was all a bit odd as at one point my friend and I felt we had crashed a private party — there were about 12 other punters and they all seemed to know each other. The bar man made us cocktails based on our vague instructions(«we like rum») which to be fair were pretty tasty and reasonable at £8. Don’t think I would rush back but a laugh to have seen it.(I was tipped off about Maneros by )

A work collegue is a member here and took me along once when we’d been out for drinks. I get the feeling that visitors don’t venture in here often and though it was okay it was certainly less welcoming than many of the other member’s bars in the area.
