Avoid coming here. Restaurant was empty when we came in, and for a good reason! We were the only ones in the restaurant, yet they were still slow on service. Food was not bad. But they did not clarify that the starter poppadoms, which they suggested to us, cost extra. They initially charged us for it before we complained and got it removed from our receipt. Then, they told us they wouldn’t split our bill and even then charged us a 15% service fee. Would NOT recommend.

Average. I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It was very sweet. Small portions and rice is a la carte. Needs ac and music. Not worth the trip.

Really enjoyed my meal from here, although the service wasn’t great. The guy seemed a bit grumpy that we were in there(as we were the only customers at the time), but the food made up for it. The Peshwari naan was delicious and so was the rice, and it was a very good size portion. I had the chicken korma, and it was great, very creamy and flavoursome. My friends went for the lunch time meal deal, which was quite cool as it came with Naan, the curry, and a few extras as well like vegetables etc. This was cheap but you didn’t get enough curry as a portion, and a very small amount of rice. So I was glad I went for the proper meal size! The only thing that bothered me was the hidden costs that came with ordering some poppadoms for the table, ended up costing us about £8 extra as it was about a £1 for each poppadom and for the chutneys as well. But I could’ve checked, so really it was out fault. Still though… Would definitely return.

Went with my wife who was craving ‘chicken momo’, but upon ordering a brown chicken curry came out(check photo), which had no resemblance to the Indian/Nepalese dumplings we all know as momo. The owner came out to chat with us, as the place was very empty, and insisted this is what they call momo there. The waiter repeated the same argument. But we were very angry at this trick(I showed them google photos of momo on my phone but they kept on repeating the same line) and returned the dish. The other curries were okay, to be fair.

I was a bit disappointed in the food here. Perhaps it was because I was expecting something amazing from the scallop or from the monkfish dishes that I had. But they were both just«meh». I also found the staff to be quite rude which didn’t help.

Service was really slow, on a night where there were only 3 tables seated at any given point… but they had my favorite fizzy lemonade, and everything was really, really, really tasty. It was worth the wait — just make sure you have time and are not in a rush to head somewhere. My friend said it might have been the best Indian food she’s had, ever.

It’s a small and good Indian restaurant located centrally in Camden. I was happy with my food and also liked the wine, but there’s nothing special I remember. If you’re hungry and in that area or just want to have some Indian dish, it’s a good choice!

Decent Indian. Nothing that blew my mind, but tasty all the same.

I had the unusual craving for Indian food one night after drinking, so the only place that was open in the wee hours of the morning was Maharani. I ordered over the phone and agreed to pick it up since I was on a bus headed that way anyway. First star. The décor was very pretty and modern, I quite liked it. Star #2. The take out service had me standing there for an extra five minutes, despite it already being 5 minutes past the designated time I was supposed to be there. No star. The food was, well, okay. Nothing to write India about. I had the chicken tikka masala(Hey, I was drunk and not in the mood for creativity and adventure. just rice and familiarity) but there was definately a hint of ketchup taste to the dish under the spiciness. One star. So…it’ll do in a pinch but… meh. Just meh.

Have eaten in here and ordered delivery a couple of times — if you live locally the food will most likely be delivered on foot in an insulated bag — the staff have been pretty friendly when I’ve ordered in the past. Food can sometimes be a little cold and need a quick blitz in the oven though. Eating in works out more expensive than you might imagine but obviously the food tastes far nicer.

Maharani is a great Indian restaurant for all you curry lovers out there. Offering a great selection of all your favorite dishes from the mild to the hot(depending on your tastes.). Personal favorites include the Chicken Rogan and Paneer Shashlik, although the lamb dishes are also good. They also have a local delivery service if you are feeling lazier, with free delivery on orders over £15. Maybe not for you if you are ‘detoxing’ in January, but definitely one from Feb 1st on.

I was recommended this place by a friend who used to live above, as being a great curry house. However from my experience I have to vote against it. The food was bland, and luke warm and very expensive. I ate in a long room, which was rather uncharacterful except for the red lights beaming to the ceiling, their was little else to set to scene. From first looking at the menu, I though it looked like a good value for money, however when you read into it you realise you can easily spend £20−30 a head as you have to pay for each tiny dish separetly which are about £6 each. I don’t often write bad reviews, but I wont be coming here again.

I was dragged along to Maharani late one night after one too many, so despite not really liking Indian food, I acquiesced. It was fine. My chicken balti was brought to the table so sizzling hot(literally) that I had to wait about 5 minutes before eating and then it was a touch too spicy hot. A guy across from me(it was a big group) ordered a different dish but kept complaining about the burn as well. Despite this, I basically inhaled a veg dish I didn’t know I liked — I think it was the chana bhajee(chickpeas and masala) — and the naan was superb. The staff were also very attentive and kind. I believe the restaurant has recently been refurbished — it was modern and squeaky clean.
