It’s Chinese New Year so it seemed only right to be in China Town indulging in a tonne of Chinese food. Was upset they’d run out of cheong fun — no fun at all! The dim sum pork buns were excellent though. Veggie spring rolls were decent too. Fried veggie rice and sweet and sour chicken also proved tasty. Service was slow and a little scatty(they forgot our Chinese greens) but perhaps it was a particularly busy evening. Desserts are enormous; we shared a huge portion of fried toffee banana to finish off the evening. Prices are quite high — £33 for two, no alcohol. I’d like to try this place again with a larger group and share more dishes, as I feel that our small sample size didn’t really do the place justice.

Unexpectedly good dim sum in the heart of chinatown. There are plenty of options in Chinatown for dim sum, but as a local, I have two favourites that I visit all the time. It was about time to try something new and Loon Fung appeared to have a good reputation. The staff were pleasant and efficient, just what I like. The dim sum came out and was excellent. I use the Yam croquette as my gauge on how good the food is. It was true to the dish. As was the Malaysian fried noodle dish we ordered too. Authentic and tasty. At around £15 per head it was good value for money and I’ll be back again. The only real downside is that their chilli sauce/oil isn’t really any good, but the food tasted good despite this being a little lacking.

Dropped in here as we couldn’t get a a seat at our usual. But we got a seat here for 6 on a Sunday without a booking! Woohoo! Service was good and our orders came out pretty quick. Prices reasonable and food was authentic and delicious. Would come again.

Not bad. Has huge space, was able to accommodate for our 14 person party around one table(ended up only being 8 who turned up). Sizzling beef, ho fun with black bean sauce, crispy noodle were all pretty oily but still tasty. Very efficient service. I think Four Seasons is slightly better, but New Loon Fung is still solid.

Very nice restaurant! Planned to go to New World in China Town found it was closed when I arrived, ended up choosing New Loon Fung. Very pleased with the service, the staff are very polite, the place is very clean, the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back!

Was there with my with my wife and two young children. Staff were very friendly and seemed quite happy working under weird blueish LED lighting. We ordered a mix of Dim Sum and other Cantonese fair. On the whole, food was mediocre and non-steamed dim sum were cold or luke warm. The yam croquettes were cold and we asked for fresh ones. They came back as a soggy oily mess. Also, due to a garlic intolerance I asked for Gailan with ginger and no garlic. The Gailan had small bits of garlic. I asked for the manager and explained. He then got a chopstick and prodded the food and said it looked like ginger and that’s what they’d instructed the chef. Well my intolerance was being felt and was either due to GARLIC in the Gailan or something else wrong with the rest of the food. I said I don’t expect to pay for food I didn’t order nor eat. To which the manager with a diamond stud said he expected me to pay as he thought there was no garlic in it. I paid and will not return. I am also happy to tell all that ask where is good to get Chinese food in London to avoid New Loon Fung. If anyone is reading this: AVOIDNEWLOONFUNG. Out of interest, great authentic Chinese dishes with great staff are to be found at Baoxi Inn round the corner. AVOIDNEWLOONFUNG

Staff are extremely friendly and efficient its as if they are robots, i’ve never seen anywhere clear a setting and re-setup as quickly as the team at New Loon Fung have. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The food is extremely nice and reasonably priced.

I ate here twice and thought this restaurant was pretty tasty but not the best Chinese I’ve had. The waitstaff is polite and efficient. They served Ti Guan Yin tea. The interior is big – there are at least two expansive floors. The restrooms are clean. There were lots of Chinese people eating inside and a handful of white people. It is located in the middle of Chinatown.

I had been in Europe for over two weeks, I was missing some Asian food. So, the mister and I went to Chinatown looking for a good place to eat. New Loon Fung looked promising… there were several Asians eating there. We ordered some fried rice, vegetables and some dim sum. The food was average… boy are we spoiled in LA with all the good ass Chinese food. Oh well.

I have to admit I have a soft spot for this restaurant! If I’m around Soho, or in the centre of London, I will always go there. Is it the friendly service, is it the tasty, authentic food, is it the warm atmoshere? I will not say its the best, for sure there are better, more expensive and pretty ones… but there’s something about it that i just like, and I will always take any friends or colleaugues or family there!
