Long Tall Sally

Auf zwei Etagen (Ankleiden im UG) findet man hier einen grossen Teil des Long Tall sally Sortiments — zu Preisen, die in aller Regel 20−30% unter denen der deutschen Filialen liegen. Next und Top Shop haben ihre «tall» Sortimente, LTS ist spezialisiert auf Frauen jenseits der 1,78m.
Die Qualität schwankt, man sollte schon genau hingucken, aber insbesondere Kleider kann man hier sehr gut kaufen.

The quality of clothing isn’t there except with brands you could potentially get other places, specifically Louben and Silver jeans, otherwise the quality of the clothing is really low from the LTS label. I’m saddened because I’m tall and don’t mind paying for the quality and fit, but even most of their dresses I take to a seamstress and get altered, but dresses, sweaters and the like often «pill» and look aged within weeks or months of ownership :(.

Being tall is mostly brilliant, but sometimes it can be a right ball-​ache! One of those times is clothes shopping.
My wife and I are both taller than most, so we need to visit shops that cater to our lofty frames. With this in mind, I popped in to Long Tall Sally in Marylebone last month to buy Laura some new clothes for her birthday. Laura hates shopping and hadn’t tried anything new on for ages, so I was metaphorically fumbling around in the dark trying to get any idea of what might fit/​suit her. With the help of the brilliant staff, (the majority of whom are tall women who can perfectly sympathize with our height-​related struggles) I picked out two leather jackets, a coat and a pair of trousers.
And the weekend after Laura’s birthday I returned them all as they didn’t fit, or she didn’t like them. *sigh*
Returning them was painless, the the lady on the till gave me a sympathetic smile, and I went on my way.
Determined to get Laura some new clothes, I dragged her to LTS yesterday for another helping of great customer service.
The sales assistant Jean Luc was amazing. He energetically ran around getting different sizes, styles for Laura, perfectly guessing her size (a skill I’m jealous of) and we walked out with a tonne of new clothes and a big smile on Laura’s face.
Long Tall Sally isn’t cheap, so it was great to get discount codes emailed through that we could use in store, as well as a promotional price on boots and denim this weekend making it much more reasonable.
The heroes of this company are the staff. The service was so good, that I was happy to spend a few hundred quid on clothes for someone else! And I now have a wife who doesn’t totally hate shopping.
A real masterclass in customer service.

Jetzt kommt mal wieder was für lange Mädels. Ich bin ja immer auf der Suche nach Alternativen zu den wenigen Hamburger Shoppingmöglichkeiten. Eine davon ist nur mal eben über den English Channel, in London. Nicht sehr weit von der Oxford Street befindet sich der Flagship-​Store des Labels Long Tall Sally. Dort bot sich mir erstmal eine irre freundliche Begrüssung von bildhübschen und superschick gekleideten langen Mädels, die auch noch ein bißchen Hüftspeck mit sich trugen. Sehr sympathisch. Der Laden war für mich ein wahres Shoppingparadies — endlich mal eine Auswahl an schicken Jeans, Hosenanzügen, Röcken, Kleidern. Zugegeben, ganz billig sind die nicht. Aber wenn schon denn schon. Schließlich befand ich mich ja auch noch in Urlaubslaune, unter deren Einfluß ich sowieso immer etwas großzügiger bin. Wenn mal eine Klamotte nicht in der passenden Größe zu haben ist, telefonieren die Ladies auch in anderen Stores hinterher und schicken die Sachen auch nach Hause. Leider ist der Versand auch nochmal ziemlich teuer (zwischen 10 und 15 GBP), da überlegt man sich das schon. Aus dem Grund hab ich auch den Online-​Dienst noch nicht genutzt. Denn das eventuelle Zurücksenden, wenns doch nicht paßt, kostet nochmal extra. Und zuhause ist ja auch keine Urlaubslaune.
Trotzdem — wann immer ich in Zukunft nach London komme, werde ich dort Station machen. Dann gehts mit einem leeren Koffer hin und mit einem vollen wieder zurück!
