An adorable self-serve café on Portobello Road! A friend and I decided to stop to escape from the cold and boy, am I glad we did. The concept of this café is based on self-service, so you can help yourself to the teas and the delicious pastries on display and pay before you leave. There is a barista manning the coffee bar, so no need to worry about needing to make your own latte haha. I had a green tea by Tea Birds which was lovely with hints of jasmine, and a pistachio croissant that was just divine. It had just the perfect amount of filling and was not too sweet. I recommend resting your feet and grabbing some pastries and drinks here after trekking through the Portobello Road Market!

This is my favourite café on portobello road — Self service and super relaxed. Staff and owner are beyond friendly and make you feel as if it’s your own place. They have a wonderful selection of cakes, sandwiches and salads. A beautiful French experience right on Portobello Road

L’Epicerie is the casual offspring of the more substantial bistro next door and offers a good selection of pastries and sandwiches as well as some deli items. It actually started off a lot more French with the most delicious bread straight from France. It has become a bit more generic but is still very nice and less pretentious than Talkhouse next door. I miss the massive buttermilk chicken ciabattas, though … The décor is simple yet special with seating available on hay bales. The coffee is lovely and they offer a selection of flavoured sugars which is a nice touch. Not so nice that they keep running out of chocolate powder.
