Great little coffee place, fab choices of salads, pastries and eggs. Very clean and family friendly. However, they only get 3 stars because the service is awful!!! But I mean awful not just bad. It is such a shame. I will come back because the lovely food is stronger than the appauling service, but do stop if you are in the area the menu is definately worth it.

Fantastic bread! After too many times waiting too long for coffee at the weekend(lots of people waiting for theirs, the staff rather distracted with no sense that they were busy, lots of chatting and little getting orders out!) I get mine from Brackenburys on Askew Rd(recently renamed but I can’t remember the new name). Still worth visiting for the bread though, as that doesn’t generally take very long to be served with!

Coffee and pastries are awesome, awesome enough to make me return despite some of the staff, who could definitely do with some customer service training!

Generally good sandwiches. I’m a regular customer, but I have one huge gripe, and that is the service. A few days ago, I bought a chocolate brownie to take away. Some yards down the road, having taken a bite, i realized that it was stale. I immediately returned to the shop expecting an apology along with a refund or at least a replacement cake. What I actually got was a 5 minute argument, and no satisfaction whatsoever. The girls behind the counter were rude, aggressive and had no interest whatever in my problem. I left leaving the brownie on the counter with no replacement. Bad, bad service.

I absolutely agree with you guys ;) Just had to mention summer treat — fruit tarts! How can anyone resist them?

Huge fan, great bread, great sandwiches and pastries to die for. Not cheap agreed, but well worth it. Perfect for Sunday brunch with a paper.

Excellent artisanal bread and a beautiful range of pastries and cakes. Love the beautiful meringues as well. I agree with the previous reviewer that the service is a little standoffish but the view from the window is much more glum than the view looking in! The loaves all seem to cost upwards of £2 which will not suit everyone but the price to quality ratio is actually favourable as the ones we have tried so far knock spots off the competition.

I love this place. Used to be the Alban Bakery, which was average but did nice salads. Now is a proper quality French bakery. Does fantastic pastries, bread, cakes and treats. And pretty good coffee. I get one from here every day. Also a great range of sandwiches in baguettes and sliced bread. From classic fillings to deli-style. Their tuna mayonnaise baguette is delicious, for reasons I haven’t yet fathomed. And they had the vision to put tables outside, which has already started to transform the Askew Road wasteland. Have been waiting ages for someone to do this.
